My DD, 3.5, had open heart surgery last Thursday. We've planned a trip to DW for the end of the summer to celebrate making it through the surgery. She made it through the surgery fine but was, predictably, pretty drugged-up and in-pain on Thursday night. I got up real early Friday morning and started dialing for a PS at Cindy's. My daughter loves Cinderella.
First try, got through. Table for 8. I told the other two kids (8, 6) and we all sat around the kitchen table and cried. I took them to the hospital to see their baby sister (and my DW who was staying there). They wanted to tell her that she was going to get to meet Cinderella.
When they told their sister, she started to laugh and smile for the first time in a few days and asked if she could put on her Cinderella costume to go to the castle. I really believe the idea of going to DW has helped get her through this rough recovery period.
Sometimes, we all lose sight of how wonderful Disney can be for a young person.
