Check out a site called ITA software to find flights and airfares. It almost always lists fares lower than most of the travel websites and it you can view more options for flight times than most other sites list. I believe this site is often uesd by travel agents to find flights. You can do a month long search if your dates are flexible and save even more money. You don't purchase your tickets from the site. You need to contact the airlines or a travel agent. You need to use the same booking codes and fare codes to get the price you found. I have just called the airlines and told them what flights I wanted and have always gotten the same price listed on ITA.

I always use ITA to check current fares. If I see something I like, I go to the carrier website to book, or I call. I have been using ITA for years.

Used it recently for a trip to Ireland, but found that I could get a bit cheaper booking online at Aer Lingus directly. Still, it gives you a great place to start. My sis in law had to book a really complicated series of overseas flights, and it saved her hundreds of dollars. I highly recommend it!
