A great big pickle...sigh.

I am watching John and Kate plus 8 when they went to WDW... started getting teary-eyed when they drove under the Welcome to Walt Disney World sign. And when they ate at Chef Mickey's. I need a vacation!

I caught that show last night for the first time to see what the fuss was about. Am I missing something??

Are you feeling better?

Kathy - I am so sorry about Frank's mother. Do keep us posted?

Still no word...I tried calling him the last two days and no answer. I'm afraid he might be at the hospital with her. (:

Thanks. That's what I look like now. :) Still too lazy to create a photobucket account. Yes, I always get teary eyed heading down that road too. It's pure magic. I feel bad for those of you who've had to cancel vacation this year. Here I am leaving in a month and couldn't care less. :( I'm just not excited in the least. I am SO depressed, exhausted and overwhelmed. I just realized that I need ADRs to eat breakfast at the Poly! Talk about a resort newbie. I am not used to this. In my mind, when you stay at a hotel you just go to the hotel restaurant to eat your meals... none of this reservation stuff. I must have those macadamian pancakes.!

LOVE the hair in the new picture. It makes you look even prettier! :)

That has happened to me when I was not traveling with munchkins - after all the planning there is a let down...but once I'm on the way, i get excited again. Hope you will too! :thumbsup2

Arrrggghhh - well, okay, not great spelling, but you get my point. It is sooooo aggravating to be at your resort and not be able to just walk up and have breakfast! The free dining has made it near impossible during those times...and even in general, the DDP has made it far more difficult to do a walk up - though we have been able to a few times.

How do I know where, when and what I'll want to eat on any given day? I must decide this 90 days out? We do make several ADR's out of necessity, but it does not stop us from trying a walk up if we'd rather eat elsewhere - sometimes it works, sometimes not. If not, we just do CS b/c we'd already decided we did not want the ADR (we stop by any podium and ask them to cancel it for us, most can, a few are not able).

Maybe try to make an ADR for a morning when you'll not be doing a park? Or do you like to wing those days?

You will have your macadamia pancakes!!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :dance3:

I just made adr's last night for oldest DS who is leaving the day after tomorrow. I did not think we'd be able to get anything and I actually did pretty good for him (we couldn't make them sooner because he just got his baseball schedule down there). I was able to get Sci-Fi's, 1900 Park Fare (this one they will probably cancel), Biergarten, Plaza Restaurant and Fulton's--all lunches.

I can't believe he's already leaving!!! They must be excited - sure hope they get a great room at CBR. :goodvibes Did they make any requests?

Sci Fi, Biergarten and Plaza - a few of our faves!!! I can almost smell WDW as I type!!

Jon and Kate is a love hate thing... kind of like the Pepper Market. LOL :rotfl: Personally, I think the show is in poor taste and even more so now that they are getting divorced and *still* they are continuing with the show. The show must go on $$$$$$$!!! Not a way to bring up those darling children at all. :sad2: That's all I'm going to say about that.

Aw, thank you for the compliment. I'm not feeling pretty these days. I really really hope this vacation will help bring me out of this funk. It's pretty bad when you can't stand yourself.

I will try to make a few reservations, but we are so not people to follow a "schedule" on vacation.

Have you talked to your Dr about a mild anti-depressant? You have classic symptoms of depression. I went through this WAY back... took about 4 months before I realized that my depression was cycling, and figured out it was my birth control pill causing it. I knew I was depressed, but didn't realize just how badly until after I got my meds adjusted and started coming out of it.

I  Biergarten! 1900 Park Fare is another favorite, but I personally don't think I would do a character meal without kids... just too expensive.

I don't like the show. I think the parents are nasty to each other, and Kate gets freaked out over the stupidest stuff. I just saw that it was WDW episode, and wanted to see the World!

I am feeling much better, thanks!

We are a lot alike concerning this topic. I've no clue how my days are going to be spent. We decide that when we get up. We never make plans. Ever.

But, I just caught the clue bus that if I want to eat at certain places on the monorail run, then I can't just walk in and expect to get a table. I just had no idea about reservations. :confused3 We've never eaten anywhere besides a quick bite at the parks as we've always stayed off site.

I feel the same about the show. Of course, we're not privy to behind the scenes, but it sure looks like Kate wants to continues for the $$ and celebrity she's come to enjoy, while Jon has had it with being bossed around and did not want to continue the show. It's sad to see a relationship, with so much at stake, played out so publicly.

I think you are very pretty in both photos, Tracy!! I know its hard when we don't feel that way, but hopefully, the exercise will bring a new energy and you'll begin to feel better.

I like to have a plan, but not the obsessive touring plan telling me what ride to ride at what time! I usually plan my evening park around EMH, because we love those. I then get my ADR for dinner in that park, or at a resort close to it. For breakfast, we bring stuff to eat in the room. Lunch is CS. The exception is when we do a character breakfast. We like to do those as late as possible (the kids love the breakfast foods) and make it a brunch, then grab an early CS for dinner. Other than that, we tend to hop to whatever park the kids want to see during the day. On our last day, we get up early, then hit every park and get a last ride on all our faves! We end up at MK and close the park. We are generally exhausted by the end of the day, but we love to each get in those special rides 1 last time!

Ack! :scared1: I'm exhausted just reading that. Wow. You guys are on a mission when you hit the World!

Not us. We just go with da flow!

I like to have a bit of a plan at WDW too. It's a bit much to go without any kind of plan at all for us - though, as Tracy mentioned, they don't and prefer to go as the wind blows - which we have done without munchkins along. It was great fun! We'd get on whatever bus came along first - still, we had some ADR's and would go if we felt that's where we'd enjoy. It is nice to have a nice dinner to look forward to and relax, have a drink ...no rushing.

We like the early EMH's, so we're up and out bright and early - in the hot months, we're back at the room or touring other fave resorts etc by noon - put of the park anyway. Then we enjoy some R&R (kids used to love this time for the pool) and head back around 6 in the evening. We generally avoid the parks with evening EMH and tend to visit the ones that had it the day before.

If we're there for a week we keep 2 days park free - relaxing breakfast - sometimes we do in room dining. Oh, Tracy!! That's an idea for your Poly breakfast - you could have your macadamia pancakes from in room dining - no adr, no rushing! I think allears may have an in room dining menu....let me go check....
http://allears.net/menu/men_polr.htm
Don't see the pancakes there, but I would call in room dining and ask when you arrive. Ya never know!

Anyway, I enjoy reading how others vacation at WDW - it's fun to see how we all enjoy it the most! ::yes::

Oh boy. I have never heard of any of those places. I am a dorkasaurus. Yup. I best be getting my caboose in gear, huh?

How many times have you been? If you've not been there a lot, you wouldn't know a lot of the restaurants. And if you basically just grab something counter service, you wouldn't know them either. We used to take the kids to Sci Fi a lot--you sit in cars like a drive in movie and watch stupid "horror" film clips while you eat. It's a fun place. DH and I do plan...we know which park we are going to most days, have all of our meals planned out, etc. But we've been over 20 times so we don't have to do the commando thing anymore...and we like to sit and relax at a meal with a drink, etc.

Sci Fi, Biergarten and Plaza - a few of our faves!!! I can almost smell WDW as I type!!

Yep, leaving in two days. He's excited...as is Nicole and the team. They are not requesting any certain room. They figure they really won't be there much. They'll do the parks when not playing ball and they'll probably spend a day at the water parks (the pool at CBR just is not turning them on).

Jon and Kate is a love hate thing... kind of like the Pepper Market. LOL :rotfl:

TOO FUNNY!!!! :lmao:

Yep, I see it as exploiting the kids! There I said it and feel bette rnow.

I think Disney is just what you need to get you out of your funk! You'll be fine...and you've got all of us goofs here to keep you company. :)

I  Biergarten! 1900 Park Fare is another favorite, but I personally don't think I would do a character meal without kids... just too expensive.

We love Biergarten too. I only picked 1900 Park Fare because they have a 13 year old boy staying with them (his parents couldn't afford to go and, if I didn't mention it, Andy is paying for this boy's trip) and it was the ONLY character meal I could get this late. But that might be the time of a playoff game if they get that far and they'll have to cancel.

I don't like the show. I think the parents are nasty to each other, and Kate gets freaked out over the stupidest stuff. I just saw that it was WDW episode, and wanted to see the World!

Glad you are feeling better.

Kari, I sent you a message about this. I'm glad you were able to come out of it. Some aren't so lucky. :guilty:

Thank you, Christine. Fingers and toes crossed.

I've been to WDW about 9 or 10 times. (twice without my parents) All but the last trip were off site hotels. No, I never paid attention to the restaurants when we were doing the parks. And I've only been to DTD once. So yeah, we're definitely newbs and don't know any better. How embarrassing!

It's not embarrassing, it's special!!!!! Oh, to be a newbie again...sigh...it really is a special time, that we often repeats lose along the way...not to say we don't have our moments when it all feels new again...I mean, the first time I see Main Street, still wet from being washed, the new morning smell of the MK...be still my heart..

I enjoyed dtd much more when it was Disney Village Shops and the steamboat was not Fultons Crab House, but Empress Lily (named after Mrs.Walt Disney) holds special memories and it was so nice being named after Walt's special lady.

Yep, you're special!:thumbsup2

What is EMH? Early morning headache? :confused3 I have one of those. I've had a migraine for three days now. :headache: Some of these acronyms still stump me.

I love DTD! I like browsing in all the shops. It's nice to dream.

EMH confuses me too - it used to mean Early Morning Hours, but now that it extended to both morning and evening, I've no idea what it means!!:confused3

I probably have it wrong anyway...they probably changed it to something else and I've not kept up - it's always Early Morning Hours to me.:thumbsup2

One of our friends will know for sure! Oh, wait! Maybe it means Extended Magic Hours????

I have never had the opportunity to take advantage of this. Sounds like a nifty idea to me. We may need to take advantage of it depending on the weather. Please no rain, hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes, snow storms or anything close to that!
