Disney is a vacation why be worried about judging people and calling them pigs? Yes of course if they are hurting the food eww, tell a cm right away. I have much better things to do on my vacation. I hope no one judged my dh as he is a wonderful dh and daddy to help me and make sure I eat.

I agree. With the exception of the few who have no manners or cleanliness, never assume you know the whole story.

For example, I specifically booked CL because my wife is recovering from a gastrectomy and can only eat 6 oz of food at a time. So, we are avoiding the buffet restaurants and having tiny meals six times a day, many of them at the resort lounge. Anyone who sees us will notice that we stop by the CL buffet many times per day and might assume we're taking advantage of CL. Trust me, we'd be much happier if she never had cancer and still had most of her innards!

Everyone should enjoy their vacation and have fun at WDW (assuming their fun doesn't deprive others of having fun)! Unless it's causing you a problem, relax and let the CMs decide if it's a problem.

like i said. I can agree to disagree. Sorry everyone was so offended that I found this behavior piggish. But I did.

This 100 percent and I hope your wife gets better

Thank you very much! Thats exactly what I wanted to know. It looks like from the info on that site and the pictures of the room on Disney's website, the ones right above Gasparilla's (2nd floor) will have a Magic Kingdom view and balcony- I will request to be on 2nd floor and hope it works. Thanks again!

There are two room types in the Main Building Deluxe King rooms. The turret rooms that make up the corners of the buildings, which are REALLY FRIGGIN HUGE, with no balconies and mostly no MK views (a few exceptions), and the regular shaped rooms, down the special hallway, only very slightly bigger than a regular room, with a balcony and MK view. We loved the turret room, but for what you want, I would specifically request "balcony/MK view room".

Hey it's cool, I think everyone sees your point and understands there should be respect and etiquette involved regardless of the cost. However, if I paid for club level I know that I could never physically eat or drink enough to keep disney from making a massive profit off the cost of club level. So I'm not worried about their cost if I were to take a substantial amount of food and drink from the lounge each day. I would, however, be sensitive to other guests and be mindful of the quantities available.

Blizzard warnings with over 2 feet of snow forecast for Connecticut. At this point, I would rather look at construction walls at the GF than be here right now.

Bethclayton - we are going to miss eachother at the GF this summer. We will be there in July.

I bet you can't wait to go! It's always exciting when your trip to the Grand Floridian is getting close.

Can't come soon enough for my trip in July. 30 inches of snow on my driveway and deck

Looking at a September/October trip this coming year. Not sure yet where we are going to stay, but the Grand is in the running. About two years ago (or two come fall), back when the construction was JUST beginning, we stayed in the main building, and that would be what was on our list again. Of course, with the prices you pay there, being in the midst of a war zone would not be ideal. ;)

I've read about the last ten pages here, after not being on this board much since our last go round in 2011, and have some impressions, but wanted to ask the Grand Dis experts directly what they think the resort will look like nine months from now and how it has changed since our last visit?

Do you expect most exterior signs of construction, and the refurbishment of the hotel itself, to be complete by the then?

Any info on when the DVC will officially open? I'd heard late this year (2013) the last time I checked, but it's been a while. Is that still on track?

We are still in the initial planning process, since we haven't even narrowed down a month yet, let alone a week, and we have some other hotel options we are considering, but the Grand's status could have a big impact on what we select. (As could prices the week we actually choose to go, etc.)

Thanks for any info you all can provide!

We will be there the end of June/ beginning if July...23 inches for us in Southern Litchfield county!

Hi! It's my first post on this thread, so I apologize in advance for asking, cause I'm sure it's been asked before. I did read the beginning, great pics. It is making me more excited for our stay, even though I've been at GF many times for dining.

A little history, we have 12 nights at YC booked for August. Then I decided to add on 2 nights and surprise my daughter, and so booked GF for our first couple of nights. :goodvibes. I booked a standard GV room, what should I request :confused3. I want to make the most of our GF stay, so plan on a lot of resort time, with maybe a foray or 2 to MK, since we do have 12 more nights at YC.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi SueM! :wave2: Sounds like a great split stay.

I love the marina so request that when we book garden view. Both Conch Key and Sago Cay have garden view rooms that face that way. A dear friend enjoys a view of the courtyard view from Boca Chica. I've not had that view but trust her judgement. Not much help am I? We've never had a room in Big Pine Key but some rooms there face the pool building so that would be my last request for garden view.

Happy planning, Sue.

Thanks! A marina view would be nice. Especially since I love sitting on the balcony in the mornings with a coffee, and happy hour with a wine :goodvibes
Funny how views and categories differ at each resort. At some even facing a puddle is a different category.

bummer that we will miss each other but glad to hear you have an upcoming trip! we were both there at the same time april 2012, weren't we?

Thanks for the replies! I will put in request for either Sago or Conch with Marina view :thumbsup2
It's going to be a great vacay, with GF & YC, the best of both worlds. Are we there yet?

SueM, we have a GF/ BC split stay in Aug! I know yours is YC but close enough! ;) We will be there towards the end of the month.
