A Goofy Question

What exactly is Goofy? My DH thinks he must be a dog. I told him that he can't be since Pluto is a dog and Pluto does not talk and walks on all 4 legs, while Goofy stands up and walks on two.

So, DH asked me to post this question because he wants to know if Goofy's not a dog, then what is he? Please help because he is bound to drive me crazy until our trip which is 8 months away!

Silly post, I know. I still can't believe that he got me to post this question!

Good answer!! He is definitely a dog..."educated" would be a good explanation for why he walks upright.

Ok...let me get this straight...your husband doesn't believe that Goofy is a dog because he walks upright, yet he's got no questions about a talking Mouse who also walks on two legs - and has a dog (Pluto) for a pet?

Goofy is definitely a dog. Pluto is also a dog, but he's Mickey's pet.

Definately agree with Kelleigh...Pluto walks on all fours (except when he's the parks!) because he's a pet...as opposed to Goofy who's a....well I don't know what to call him, but he's not a pet

Actually, it is me that does not believe Goofy can be a dog. Your points match my husbands!

One of my son's Disney storybooks calls Goofy a "fellow." That same story states that Pluto is a dog. I mean, Goofy does look like a dog and all... If you all say that he's a dog, I guess I'll have to go with that and be defeated All of you on these boards are so knowledgeable about all things Disney so I'll believe that Goofy must be a dog - unless anyone else out there has another theory

YES Goofy is a Dog. When he was first introduced over 60 years ago his name was Dippy Dawg.

I used to have a collection of antique Goofy's and he looked much different than he does now.

He is my absolute favorite character!
