My family (2adl and 3child) and I are going to be in Orlando from 6/25 - 7/2. I have a couple of choices about where I can stay. No suprise, I am trying to stay at the best hotels at the best price. Here are my choices. Please provide any feedback.

Option 1

6/25 - 6/28 Stay at Royal Pacific Resort in Universal (cost approx $660 std rm); 6/28 - 7/2 stay at Dolphin (cost 0.00, using reward points, std rm w/ rollaway)

Option 2

6/25 - 6/30 Stay at POR Riverside (cost approx $630 with no codes); 6/30 - 7/2 stay at Portofino Bay (cost 0.00, using reward points, std rm)

I would use option 2. That way you are at the Universal hotel over the weekend and can use the "go to the head of the line" thingy they have during the busiest times of your trip. Keep your eyes peeled for codes or other specials for your nights at the POR (very nice resort). If you have AAA you can get a little discount just with that.

Sounds like a really super duper trip! I"ve always wanted to try universal but I can't tear myself away from the Mouse!

Let us know what you choose - btw if you are going to use your points, i'd reserve right away.

Option 2. That way you would be in WDW longer. There is more to see and do at WDW, so leaving more time for that makes more sense. Also, as someone else said..those FOTL passes at US are terrific over the week-ends. I think Option 2 sounds like a perfect trip.

Why can't you use points at the Dolphin instead of POR for Option2? The Dolphin is much better IMHO than POR.

The Swan and Dolphin are both sold out from 6/25-6/27, so if I go to Disney first, I would stay at the POR Riverside. I have stayed at POR riverside before and liked it.

Right now I have reservations for POR from 6/24 - 7/2, Dolphin 6/28 - 7/2 and RPR (Universal) 6/25 - 628.

Thanks all for the quick responses, keep them coming if you have more.

The Portofino is the most expensive on site hotel at Universal! Check with your HR dept. and see if your employer is part of the Universal Fan Club. They often have good discounts as well as AAA. Have fun! :sunny:

Thanks to all for the advice. I decided to go with Option 2. Some of the reasons:

more time at Disney, I don't think we'll need as much at Universal/IOA because of FOTL

better chance of getting further discount on POR with codes

no cost for the trundle or fridge at POR

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!
