I think we need to buy new luggage for our Disney trip and I was searching the web for a bit but was wondering about reviews and if anyone can suggest some reasonably priced luggage sets? I checked out the post yesterday about the sale on Disney luggage from Heys but it's still a bit pricey for my budget so I was looking for any other ideas!! TIA!

I have seen the Heys Disney luggage at Marshall's or TJ Maxx at a significant discount. If you have either store near you, check them out. If they don't have them one week, they may have them the following week. You have to keep checking as their stock changes frequently.

Check out Craigslist. I sold a nice set a couple months ago for $50. I bought the Disney Heys luggage ( did NOT need new luggage) :lmao: so I will be again putting my almost new luggage on Craigslist because I couldn't resist the Disney set. :sad2:

Check out places like Marshall's TJ Maxx, and Burlington Coat Factory. Or you can wait until Kohl's or JcPenney has a good sale. A lot of times they have those one day sales and you can get a nice set for pretty cheap!

I live in such a small town, we have nothing except for Walmart. All those stores are like 4 hours away...the joys of this area! I'll have to do some more research online I guess...or maybe I'll have to break down and get the disney ones, lol!

TJ Maxx or Marshalls would be my bet. They have good brands at good prices.

I have a friend who has used the Eddie Bauer at Target for years and SWEARS by it.

Costco's Kirkland brand has a loyal following amoung frequent travelers.

If getting Disney, that "generic" stuff they sell on Disney Store is junke! It's a lot to pay for luggage that poorly made IMHO!

Well first of all you don't need a set of luggage. Look for great pieces at a great price. As long as it is all one color (black) then it is fine. You don't need that gigantor 26 inch rolling luggage because more than likely if you fill it up you will be overweight on most airlines. Look for good 22" rolling luggage for each person in your family. A nice bonus is if the piece has an expandable gussett so you can bring home souvenirs. A backpack or shoulder tote is all you need for a "personal item" to bring on the plane.

I was thinking a set because we are driving, not flying, we never fly anywhere...and we're a family of 6 so there's a lot of clothes that need to be packed for a 2 week vacation. I think I found a few sets I like on ebags and overstock. Thanks for the help!

I disagree on the color black.

I think its better to have color, and lots of it. Easier to identify your bags off a luggage carousel that way.

I bought two suitcases for our last cruise...one purple, one red. Stood out against a sea of black.

Just the other day I snagged a GREAT deal on a piece of discontinued Heys luggage. Ticketed price of $220, got it for $18. Its orange.

Color is a personal preference. I prefer black, but you may choose any color you want. I travel for work and many times I am coming directly from the airport to business meetings, and frankly pink and purple doesn't exactly exude a professional appearance. If you only want luggage to go visit Mickey Mouse then by all means carry purple luggage with pink polka dots if you like it, but I prefer to have more versatile luggage.

Me, too, but I also think that black also gets grubby-looking, because it shows light marks and scuffs. Mine is sort of grey-green; distinctive but still professional-looking, and it hides dirt well.

I do have a couple of larger black pullmans that I only use for family travel; those I mark with removable colored neoprene handle covers that are easy to spot on the carousel.

I had good luck at TJ Maxx a few months ago. I picked up two pieces of some nice Samsonite luggage at a great price (~ 40% of retail price) :thumbsup2.
