We got One Night with the king on Wednesday and watched over and over. It such a good movie. Saw one preview for it last week and had to buy it.

we also like Remember the Titians.

What are some of your fav. family movies?

Toy Story I and II are always riveting and stop us in our tracks. We also like Animusic and the Disney sing-a-longs...we end up having a dance-a-long.

My DD loves to watch some of the OLD Disney classics like the Shaggy Dog, That Darn Cat, The Appledumpling gang Etc. My parents and I get a kick out of seeing all the old stars.

We also love Jumangi !

Angels in the Outfield. Who could not love that? My kids still quote that movie- "It could happen." "God's thumbnail" and "nacho butt" are part of their repetoire.

Beauty and the Beast. Favorite animated Disney movie with a great soundtrack and storyline. Positive role model for girls. At EPCOT I always talk to Belle in France (back in the library) and tell her she's way better than those ditzy princesses.

Hands down, all time favorite: Sound of Music. Sorry, Disney.

and, for the older ones:

2001 a Space Odyssey I love the look on their faces when it's over and they say, "What was THAT?" Make 'em think every now and then, it can't hurt!:thumbsup2

well you gotta know my kids humor, but they loved RV and the Cheaper by the dozen movies, that is their favorite! I thought it was funny too. Any of the "adult humor" just goes over their head.

We also like Remember the Titians.

I also like that movie- but I am such a sucker for Denzel Washington. I loved the new The Preacher's Wife with him in it (in that gray suit:love:), again a lovely film with a wonderful message, and funny. Great music courtesy of Whitney Houston, who also was stunning in a very classy way.

Old Yellar and Dumbo! These are classic!! My ds(8) loves the older Disney movies, too. We drive DH crazy watching oldies on movie night.

We like the Pixar movies and live action Disney like POTC, National Treasure, and HM. Kid friendly, but still keeps adult interest

Hmmmm.... we watch a LOT of movies at my house. Some of our current favorites are
1. Cars (dd5's pick)
2. Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone (dd9's pick.. .she just got to watch it for the first time this weekend) or The Suite Life of Zach and Cody (something about the tipton?) she couldn't decide.
3. Open Season(Hubby's pick)(Can I call you Smelliot? LOL)
4. I don't really have a fav at the moment... I did just discover that I could rent all the old Little House on the Prarie episodes from Blockbuster.com so that's what I've been watching lately! I love that show!

My kids are still little (5 and 1.5) but we like to do "movie night" one Friday a night as a family. Some of our favorites are:

Pete's Dragon
Mary Poppins
Peter Pan
The Muppet Movie (the original one!)
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Toy Story 1 and 2

Even DH likes these! ;)

We just netflixed Swiss Family Robinson I had never seen it and my kids loved ! It was a great way to get ready for our secret trip

The Sound of Music
Mary Poppins
Follow Me Boys (Disney oldie)
The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band (Disney oldie too, first movie where Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn acted together)

Julie

My kids love Teen Titans...I know, not a movie, but we have a couple of seasons on DVD. I think DH likes it as much as they do. They also have a season of Justice League and two of Superfriends (the ones I watched as a kid)

DS will watch Cars as many times as you put it on.

For the whole family, we liked Pirates of the Carribean a lot (my kids don't scare easily) and DD begged Santa for Haunted Mansion, the movie for Christmas and we all liked it.

I too love the old disney movies. The Parent Trap and Swiss Family Robinson and Freaky Friday are our favorites (new or old).

My dd's are 10 and 12 so our repeat favs are:

Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, for entire family films we all enjoyed the POTC and a recent favorite was Akkehla and the Bee - a two time rental!

They have recently been into musicals so we just rented Oklahoma, Annie and this weekend was the The Wiz - and they loved that!

I find it hard to find an acceptable movie that challenges the "tween" set, ie not to trendy or to adult but that we all enjoy together.

TJ

1. The Ghost And Mr. Chicken
2. It's A Mad Mad World :thumbsup2
3. Polyanna :cloud9:
4.The Night At The Museum
5. Shakest Gun In The West :rotfl2:
6. Blackbeards Ghost :woohoo:

The only movies we can all watch together are the new Disney movies that premier on the Disney channel. But I am so happy that my daughter has discovered Hayley Mills movies. My mom introduced me to these movies when I was little and we got our first VCR. Now my DD9 and I can stay up late on the weekends and pop in a DVD of The Parent Trap or an old tape of Summer Magic (this was my all time fav..is it out on DVD yet???)

My DD loves The Parent Trap (the Lindsey Lohan version), Secondhand Lions (one of the best family movies ever), Ella Enchanted, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (starring Donny Osmond), any Disney animated movie, and The Princess Diaries 1 and 2.

My ds9 loves, loves, loves Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is a shame because I prefer the Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) version...we watch both!
