A First timers guide to insanity - May 2012 PTR

Thanks everyone who's joining in for the ride!! It's feels less like I'm talking to myself. Not that I mind talking to myself, but it's nice to get comments!!

Day Two:
Being that my children have been early risers since they were born, I feel it's my duty to wake them up as early as possible on their first day at the World. Heck I might even start the day with blaring M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E to really rile them up...

and head over to breakfast at Chef Mickey's!
a 7am ADR what a better way to spend our first morning than with the Fab 5?!?!?!

DH has no idea what he's in for...no clue about the celebration and napkin waving. Not that I have ever been, but I have watched enough random youtube videos to know what the deal is.

After breakfast we will walk our happy butts right over the Magic Kingdom!!

I am hoping we get there to enjoy SOME of the EMH for the park. I have no idea what our touring plan is. Wait, I take that back, I DO have the Lines App and have made a touring plan, but if we follow that I do not know. Since this is our first trip I have no idea what to expect.

Buzz Lightyear, definitly. Haunted Mansion, heck yeah it's my fave ride! Dumbo? meh not sure. I need to remember this is my kids dream vacation and let them lead. Is it possible to check the OCD at the hotel and not pick it up?? I need to learn to smell the roses more often. And stop off at every Photopass Photog I see since I just threw down 149 for the CD.book last week!

I do know that I fully plan on getting a chicken waffle, I don't care if it's not on the Dining Plan! :woohoo:

I have my Counter Service restaurants listed on a planning page (again you see my OCD kicking in) so we can pick from there. I do not have a dinner plan since we are using our TS for breakfast that day. I hate not having a plan for dinner.

The randomness of this post is making me nervous...shouldn't I have a minute by minute schedule? ;)

Joining in. Sounds like you are an overplanner just like me. Great minds think alike :flower3:

Oh my goodness, you sound just like me! :lmao: Even though this will be our 2nd trip, it is still the same OCD planning. In fact, we had such a great trip last time, how can this be as good?? :rotfl:

We are doing the photopass this time too! We didn't last time, so I am determined to get some good shots this time.

You should do Dumbo at night. They have some you-tube videos of the new one and it looks really neat. They have water under the ride, with a cool light show!

I also have a page that list Counter Service places, but that is because I have some limitations about what I can eat. When I read about people talking about their planning pages and spreadsheets and notebooks full of research, I always think...who DOESN'T have that? :confused3 :lmao::lmao:

I love your surprise bags! How fun. Last year, I did a bag for the kids to take in the car and a surprise bag/gifts that I set up in the room before the kids got inside (I always go in first to check a room for bedbugs anyways, so they didn't suspect.) I will have to post pictures on my PTR about the things I did last year and what I am doing this year.

So here's how I make my TOC (I'm still cracking up that I didn't figure out what TOC was) :lmao:

This is assuming that you want to add it to an existing post near the beginning:
1. Go to the page that has the post that you want to put the table of contents on.
2. Scroll down to the post you want to put it on.
3. At the bottom right corner of the post click on "edit"
4. Once in the edit window, type whatever you want for your table of contents.
5. In a new window or tab open your trip report again.
6. In the new window/tab, scroll down to the first post you want to link to in your table of contents.
7. At the top right corner is a post number. Click on it and a window with only that post will pop up.
8. Copy the URL from that post.
9. Go back to the window where you're editing your post.
10. Click your cursor in the post where you want the link for the individual post.
11. At the top of the edit screen is an icon that looks like a world with a link in front of it. Click on it.
12. Backspace the "http:" stuff and then paste the link you copied in the space.
13. Click "Okay"
14. Repeat the process for all the posts you want to link to your table of contents: open individual post, copy URL, paste it into the table of contents by using the link icon.
15. When completely done editing the post, click "Save"

Did you get all that? Did it make sense because I don't know if it all made sense to me. :lmao: Hope this helps you!:thumbsup2

Joining in!! We will be at VWL May 31 - June 8! I'm like you--I keep calling it the May trip! If you can figure out the "check the OCD at the door" thing, let me know. . .i need to do the same with mine! :rotfl2:

Joining in from our May facebook page (did you know there is a June page, too??)

How exciting to be staying at the Contemporary - it's on my bucket list! And I love that you are surprising the kids. I surprised my girls last year with a quick trip over Spring break. But they are teens and rather fickle. And actually cried because we weren't going to Six Flags like I originally said. They did manage to get over it quickly - but not before lying accusations came flying my way!!:lmao: Needless to say when we go for Spring break this year - they know about it!

Can't wait to hear more about your plans!!

Breakfast at Chef Mickey's sounds like the perfect way to start the day! We love this breakfast!

Joining in from the June boards :) You're family is too sweet! The kids are going to be thrilled when they find out the surprise! We suprised ours last year for our first trip and then we missed the moment to tell them LOL so we ended up ON the DME and the video started before my daughter even realized we were going to Disney.

Cant wait to hear more about your planning and trip details!

So here's how I make my TOC (I'm still cracking up that I didn't figure out what TOC was) :lmao:

Made Perfect Sense! Thanks!!

Kat in GA - I did not! Thanks for letting me know!

StitchIsOurHero - lol glad I'm in good company with the OCD

Carriehalty78 - OMG that's hilarious...my kids have never been on an airplane so I think the airport would be a huge hint that this was not a normal vacation...all they know of a vacation is Galveston Island!

Following along :) I popped over from the May DIS'ers on Facebook.

Looks good so far :) Cant wait to see more :thumbsup2

We cannot wait to ride the new Dumbo ride! Of course we can't wait to just get back and ride ALL of the rides!

Day 3...
250px-1_epcot_spaceship_earth_2010a.JPG

Epcot!! I don't know why, but Epcot stands out more than any other park from when I was a kid. I think it was the world showcase that really left an impression. I need to see if I can find any pictures from when I was a kid, maybe my dad has some stashed away!

I don't remember much of the rides at Epcot, but I remember Morocco and Italy! Of course when I went there was no Soaring or Test Track...man I'm aging myself!

I will buy passports for the kids to do the KidCot adventures so DH and I can enjoy the World Showcase. Maybe have a few drinks around the world as well. Is it bad that my husband and I both are looking forward to drinking on vacation? :rotfl:

We also have dinner reservations at La Hacienda de San Angel

I will be the first to admit, I love love love Mexican food. Being from Texas it's a staple in our house, but it's not just Tex-Mex, I love California Baja fresh Mex and authentic dishes from the yucatan. So this is one meal I am going to really look forward to, maybe get a fancy margarita too! I also love the fact they have a different kids menu that doesn't have mac n cheese or pizza!

An entire day at Epcot I cannot wait! I don't have plans to see Illuminations, we will see how the kids feel at the end of the day. I'm worried about there only being two exits at the end of the day and getting stuck in a mad rush of people with two tired kids.

Joining in too! Looks like fun so far. Epcot World Showcase stood out the most to me as a kid and I know what you mean about aging yourself that Soarin' and Test Track weren't there when you were a kid! Can't wait to hear more.

Epcot day sounds good!! I LOOOVe world showcase too. Who needs to travel around the world when you can get your fill in one day?? ;) lol

Epcot is one of my favorites, too (only after Magic Kingdom)!

DH and I love Mexican, too -- real Mexican -- but Via Napoli won out for this trip. I can't wait to hear how La Hacienda is!

When I was a kid and would visit Disney World, there were only two parks-Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Talk about aging yourself! :)

well MGM Studios was BRAND NEW when I went as a kid. I think it just opened when we went actually.
