OK, I've been back a week so it's about time I did a trip report. This is my 1st time so be gentle with me.
(ps I've no idea how to put photo's on)
Who went?
Me - thirty something worried about the journey.
Ex OH - (it's complicated)
DD1 - Age 10
DD2 - Age 6
Well after a sleepless night being a worry wort we all got up at 5am. Had to be at the airport for check-in at 7am. After allowing far too much time as I was stressing about finding the long stay carpark we arrived at Southampton airport at 6.30 so had a long wait till our flight at 9.10am.
I had my first shock of the day when I saw how small the aeroplane was. Bear in mind I haven't flown in over 15 years and that was on a boing 747 not some noddy aeroplane!!! (OK i exaggerate
) Went to board the plane and realised apart from one other family the place was fully of businessmen with suits!! Luckily we all sat together. My children have never flown but they were fine, unlike me who spent most of the flight with her head in her hands as the whole journey felt like I was on some scary rollercoaster. Why the Pilot felt the need to keep tilting the wing up so one minute I could see sea and the next sky I will not know!!!
CDG was a doddle after all my worrying, apart from the miserable French police that wouldn't even acknowledge our presense at passport control (miserable gits!) I had arranged transfers with RS Transports and they said they'd wait with a sign by arrivals. This was when I had minor palpitations as I rounded the corner and saw about 30 signs!!!
It took me a good 5 minutes to walk around frantically hunting for mine!!
Anyway after an easy 40 minute journey we arrived at Sequoia lodge. We got all our tickets with ease and dumped our suitcases. I negotiated us to the back of the hotel so we could walk round Lake Disney and what a lovely walk it was, real easy and the sun was shining
After taking the obligatory photos of the kids in front of the castle etc we decided to go look for the dragon and look at the stained glass windows.
We then headed straight to the POTC ride as I thought that would be a nice gentle introduction to disney. There was a ten minute queue (cool!) and the kids loved it. It was their favourite ride along with Buzz. We then grabbed a disgusting hotdog and drink and ended up by the Peter Pan ride which had a 30 minute queue!!! As we were eating we thought we may as well join the queue. We then went on Small world, snow white and the tea-cups. We then realised the parade was about to start and ended up stood at the back not seeing anything!!! God we are so organised - not!!!!!
After getting pushed and shoved around for the parade and having a wander we decided to have an early tea so we went to the village and into Annettes Diner. It was dead quiet. By then I was tired and grumpy so I just ordered the meal deal thing of a Be-bop burger, brownie and drink. I must say I was a bit under-whelmed by it all. The kids had the usual kids junk, one had hot dog and one had burger. Ex OH had same as me. I must admit I don't really do junk/fast food so I was well prepared for the lack of decent grub so I shouldn't really complain, at least it was well cooked and the service was good.
After dinner we headed back for the Candleabration but didn't know where to stand. We ended up in front of the castle but didn't realise Mickey went on the stage which was behind us so we sort of got a back view. I decided not to bother with it for the rest of the week as it was so sunny you couldn't see the castle lit up anyway.
Anyway back to the hotel to get our keys and we bumped into tigger in reception which was exciting for the girls as this was their first ever character meet. We then found our Montana room in the north passage really easily. I was pleasantly surprised by the room. It was clean, the bathroom was nice, and the beds were comfy. We had a mini-bar and a hairdryer by the sink. I found the shower to be excellent and very powerful, so much so that I managed to have a mini-flood in the bathroom!!! (oops)
Anyway bed-time and I had a plan of attack in my head for the next day along with a ridiculously early breakfast (7.30am) so we could miss the crowds and do EMH. My family are gonig to be shocked by how organised I can be!!!!!
