A few weird things we saw people do on our trip

suppose so......

Yes, the CM's have their own message board - a place that allows them to vent. This board is filled with stories of rude guests that do stuff everyday at WDW and the CM's can't say a word about it at work or risk their jobs.. sadly, it's their job to take the insults and the rude behavior. They have a place where they can be, after work, which allows them to vent their frustrations.

If I’m coming off as defensive, it’s because I am. About a year ago there was a lady on this board who found out about that website and the proceeded to throw a fit on this board about that message board. She was crying that since they are Disney employees they shouldn’t be allowed to say a bad word about guests and therefore that message board shouldn’t be allowed.

Honestly, I was beginning to wonder if the lady throwing such a big fit was one of the horrible guests at WDW that get complained about so much and she was worried that she’d find a story about herself on the other message board or maybe she did find a story about herself over there.

I bet you are right!!! :rotfl2:

Very useful! I just need to find a pronounciation guide; I don't think all of those words are pronounced the same in Portugese as they are in Spanish.

Print them out ALL IN CAPS on index cards, English on the front, Portugese on the back. Flash as needed. ;)

Not sure what I wrote to provoke that, however....I dont' care if they vent or not, it is a job to them and with all jobs there come frustrations, especially when dealing with the public. I don't think they need anyone to defend or criticize them, and that's not what I was doing. I just made the statement that it didn't seem they liked guests very much since pretty much every post called guests "morons" or the like. My posts weren't meant to be sarcastic or flame anyone just my thoughts that the cm's posting were fed up and not liking guests so much.

now, back to your regularly scheduled Disney Magic!:wizard:

Then on Sunday, we were entering MK and a family ahead of us went in and was complaining that the castmembers should wipe down the finger sensor for germs. Doesn't this person realize all the germs she will be touching inside the park or let alone in the bus. I know some people are germophics. If she was so worried about germs, we thought she would have carried around wipes or gloves herself.

Credit the fine folks at Purell for all of this hysteria over germs. Those guys have really pulled a doozy! Germs are a part of life! LOL!

Indeed they are. My Grandma always used to say that 'you have to eat a bit of dirt before you die'

A recent report in the UK medical press has linked obsesive cleanliness in childhood with the development of auto-immune conditions. (ones where the bodies own natural immune system turns against part of itself)

Reports have suggested that children with pet dogs and therefore greater exposure to germs are less likley to develop these types of disorders.

in other words 'a bit of muck will do you good' :thumbsup2

I suppose that really we should be making the distinction with 'safe germs' helping the devolpment of normal healthy bodies and 'pathogenic germs' which could cause nasty illness

:lmao: :rotfl:
Thanks for the visual! We ran into a tour group the one and only time we went in July and they are the main reason that we avoid summer break months. :cheer2:

One thing that bothers me the most while I am at Disney is how rude people are. When your walking in a park and bump into someone say excuse me it is a common courtesy. That upsets me so

I actually get bothered when I say I am sorry for accidently bumping someone and they look at me and then away. I have had ONE person at Disney say something when I apologized and he commented on how polite we both were since usually people say nothing. I am not sure why this bothers me so much but I just wish someone would acknowledge my apologies. :rotfl:

Just curious why the cast members allowed that group of people to sit in the fountain...

I can't believe I just read through this whole thing today...I guess that says something about the state of affairs in my life!:rolleyes1

Also, I can't believe no one has mentioned how people seem to think that "Please move to the end of the row" DOES NOT apply to them personally.

In January, we were in the loading area for Soarin', and the CM had placed us in the appropriate rows, and my family had to be split up. OK, no biggie, at least we were in the same section. Well, there was a french couple with two children (at least they were speaking French) who ran over the woman in a wheel chair to get to the front, and then proceeded to buckle up in the middle of the row. My MIL, DD3, and DS5 were with me, and there weren't enough seats left on the row, so I asked them to move down, and they actually said NO, they got there first!!! I said that we were placed in line, and told to go to the end of the row, and then they looked at each other, and said "I didn't hear that, did you?", like I was just making up things?? What's up with selfish people?? At this point, the CM finally came over and did make them move. Why cause all of this hassle?

The thing is that everyone has paid to get in, and deserves consideration. Something is really wrong when we can't even observe common courtesy!

Working in retail, we make this generalization all the time. It's hard to "like" you guests or customers when more are rude to you then nice, and I am not exaggerating. It comes down to the decreasing value of the dollar, and people feel they are entitled to VIP service because it's their money. The amount of people I have seen taking up smoking since ive been working in this industry is sickening, just because everyone is over stressed from the constant negative attitude.

I feel ya...I'm in banking, and it's not going real well for our customers ( we're very behind and not being fair to them ) I think out of every 10 I talk to, 9 of them are ticked at us, and rightly so. It does seem like the worse the economy gets the more they feel "entitled" to special things, even the rare times when it's their fault!

TOP COMPAINTS MADE TO CM's at WDW

# 1. Guest - "I was at the restaurant and while I was eating, a rodent passed right by my table!"

CM - "Thats no rodent, that was Mickey Mouse, you were at a character meal, next time take his picture."

#2. Guest - "I was just in the pool and the water was soo cold..."

CM - "Yes ma'am, its July, and our pools are meant to be refreshing, the hot tubs you are looking for are over to the left"

#3. Guest - "I told CRO that I was celebrating my birthday on my trip and I didn't get anything for free or special treatment"

CM - "Sir, you are 47 years old, people stopped making a big deal about your birthday decades ago, perhaps you shouldn't either"

#4. Guest - "Do you know how much I spent on this vacation?!"

CM - "No sir, I do not, but I would imagine it is more than what I am paid to stand here and take complaints from people like you."

#5. Guest - "I waited a whole 30 minutes in line for that attraction and then the ride went down"

CM - "Well, I am sure if your car breaks down on your way home, everyone in your car will simply blame you too as the cause"

#6. Guest - "I was here the whole week and I didn't get any dreams, its not fair"

CM - "Don't feel bad, at least my dream came true, you're leaving".

Now obviously the CM's don't talk like this, but you know, if the circumstance called for it, I'd love to see just a little sarcasm, at the all the guests in ear-shot would get a big kick out of it.

I'd pay a buck to see any or all of these....!

I loved reading these, it must be soooooo tempting to want to say these answers

This isn't Disney, but still a great amusment park story.

I used to work at an amusment park (not disney) and part of my job was to stand at the entrance of a ride to make sure that a child was tall enough to ride. Everyonce in a while a child would come up with 3 inch platforms and the parents would be upset when we would ask them to take off their shoes.

The worst one that sticks out in my mind though is a young girl came up to the ride in shorts and tennis shoes. Her ankle was un-naturally high, so I asked if she would take off her shoes. Dad got very upset and started cursing at me. I explained to him that I would not be able to let her on the ride until she took off her shoes. He grabbed her hand and yanked her away to a bench 10 ft from me and took off her shoes. He then pulled 12 matchbooks out of her shoes. He had put them in there to give her the little extra she needed to pass the height requirement.

These stories have cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh this morning.

Just last week in the FP line at Big Thunder at MK a man raced up the line past the CM with his 2 kids- midway a CM stopped him because one of his children was way too small (inches below 40") to go on the ride. This is printed on the fastpass and on the entrance sign. Man goes nutso (I walked ALL this WAY!!!) and would not give up while CM insists "Sir, I cannot let you go on this ride. I thought he would call security but the CM finally just snarled "Fine! Have a magical day!" (sarcastically).

We were behind nutsy man and I gave a sympathetic smile to the CM who was really on the edge at this point. I wish I had thought to loudly say to the man "It's a safety thing, idiot! How many rides have you pulled this on today because you are bitter you are missing your favorite rides because of your adorable little blessing who is too small to safely ride them?". DH and I agree we would not last long as a CM due to the rude guests- Disney would be forced to fire us!:rotfl:

My DH and I were at Epcot last weekend waiting for the boat to take us to Future World. Behind us a lady was talking loudly in her phone and using pretty nasty obscenities. On her last trip to WDW she had bought a bottle of perfume from Italy and did not like it. She and her family went to MK that morning and she said that she asked a CM if they would take the perfume back and the CM said sure they would give her a refund. So she is complaining on the phone that she left her family at MK, took a taxi over to Epcot only to be told they would not take the perfume back because it was discontinued. So she was dropping the F bomb about how mad she was and how she would have to pay for another taxi back to the MK and how she wasted time with her family and was seriously mad and annoyed! There were kids in the line and she was still talking the way she was, not to mention that she paid for a taxi for no reason! :lmao:

I swear, I could NEVER be a CM, because the moment a rude guest got in my face, I would give it right back to them. Unfortunately, I know a lot of them get worse then rude comments. I talked to a CM at WoD who told me she was trying to help a gentleman (and I use the term loosely!) one day who was getting agitated about not being able to find something in the store. At one point, he got so upset that he reached OVER THE COUNTER, grabbed this CM by her shirt, and pulled her across the counter and started screaming in her face! She admitted to being very badly shaken up by the whole incident, but when I asked why security wasn't called (after all, that's an assault and battery) she said she was certain had she complained to a manager or requested that, they would have sided with the guest and she could have lost her job, so she let it go.

It could be just the managers in that store though -I shop there a lot, and I've heard numerous rumblings from CM's who work there about the managers.
