A few weird things we saw people do on our trip

Here's an example of one of the great stories on the topic of- "I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BAD SOME PEOPLE CAN ACT"

Exit runners are an issue at Dumbo, that is one of the reasons we have "boarding passes", it allows us to see who waited in and who tried to sneak in. I will never forget this one night when a lady and her son came up the exit and parked themselves in a Dumbo. As I was coming around I asked them for their boarding pass, and they calimed that I had failed to give them one. Meanwhile, a woman and her son who do have a boarding pass were without a Dumbo. I told her that I was sorry if I had missed her, but she needed to step out of the Dumbo and we would get her on in a couple of rides. She kept swearing up and down that I had not given her a pass, that it was their last ride of the night and they were going home, that they didn't have time etc. I told her that we would not run the ride until she stepped out of the Dumbo, and that it would take longer to sit here than it would if she stepped out and we let her on in a couple of rides. I finally told her that if she didn't step out I would call security. This has always worked before but she called my bluff. She kept repeating her story and saying that she was embarassed, I told her, "Ma'am, you are going to be more embarassed when security escorts you off the ride in front of everybody."

After she still refused to budge, I talked to my partner and he said, "I'm sick and tired of them doing this, call security." By this point, we knew she had come up the exit instead of waiting in line, for several reasons:

1.) I stand at the turnstile handing out the tickets, there was no way for her to get by me without at least seeing her and recognizing her later.

2.) If I had missed her, she would have said something when long walk did the boarding pass spiel or when she noticed me handing those to everybody else.

3.) No guest told us that she was in line with them, and believe me, they are very quick to point out our mistakes.

4.) Several guests told us that they had seen her come up the exit.

We called a coordinator, a manager, and security. Security came and escorted her off of the ride, and everybody was applauding. We did not get her on in a couple of rides since Security escorted her off, and everybody on the ride and in the line was clapping. I felt bad making the other guests wait, but if you give in to them, they will pull the same stunt on other rides, and you are condoning their behavior.

Cool! I am so happy you stuck to your guns! I hate when the scammers get their way! An awesome lesson for that kid to learn

This isn't Disney, but still a great amusment park story.

I used to work at an amusment park (not disney) and part of my job was to stand at the entrance of a ride to make sure that a child was tall enough to ride. Everyonce in a while a child would come up with 3 inch platforms and the parents would be upset when we would ask them to take off their shoes.

The worst one that sticks out in my mind though is a young girl came up to the ride in shorts and tennis shoes. Her ankle was un-naturally high, so I asked if she would take off her shoes. Dad got very upset and started cursing at me. I explained to him that I would not be able to let her on the ride until she took off her shoes. He grabbed her hand and yanked her away to a bench 10 ft from me and took off her shoes. He then pulled 12 matchbooks out of her shoes. He had put them in there to give her the little extra she needed to pass the height requirement.

These stories have cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh this morning.

You know, I just don't get parents who go to such lengths to get their kids on rides that they are obviously too short for. Don't they get it that they are endangering their kids LIVES?? You know who'd be the first person the parent would blame if something happened to their kids...YOU, the person who allowed them in line in the first place! Kudos to you for doing your job right.

Honestly, people that are determined to take their kids on rides will go to some amazing extremes. We had people try and switch kids as well, when they would come back on a parent swap. People either don't understand or think that they know better. The height requirements are there for a reason.

I could never be a CM either...to have to deal with all of these people and still be polite!?! Overall, the CMs are what set Disney apart from other amusement parks. For example, we have a small local water park/amusement park in the area that used to be nice for day trips in the summer. Unfortunately, it is staffed by power-hungry teens. The last time I took my son there, I watched a lifeguard LITERALLY push an unaccompanied child who, it seemed, didn't realize he was supposed to wait there. After that, I decided to put the money I would have spent on these day trips into the Disney fund. There's no place like home!

I can see it now:

Teacher: Sally, what did you do for summer vacation?

Sally: I went to Disney World.

Teacher: Oh wow! Did you have a good time?

Sally: It was great! Right up to the point my parents cussed out a cm because I couldn't go on a ride.:(

I haven't read the whole thread but only noticed one weird thing on our last disney trip. I was coming out of the bathroom after illuminations and nearly got run over by an ecv. Not so weird, except there was 3 adults on ecvs actually chasing each other round and round in circles. I'm guessing they were drunk as what sober adult would think that was a good idea? World showcase was packed with people trying to exit and everyone was having to avoid these 3 idiots. Just strange.

Sadly, as a teacher, I've had this conversation:( ...not about a Disney trip though.

Here's an example of one of the great stories on the topic of- "I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BAD SOME PEOPLE CAN ACT"

Similar thing happened to us on May 14th in AK. We stuck around for EMH that night (AK at night is a whole new world). As we hadn’t ridden EE that day (though we did have a fast pass), we headed over that way to get a ride. There weren’t many people there and we zipped through the queue in no time. When we got to the ride platform, we asked to be put in the line for the first car (the best way to ride EE). Shortly after we got in line, a guy and a woman (maybe his daughter) crawled UNDER the metal bars (not ropes) that separate the line from the queue. My wife said something to him like “I don’t think they want you doing that”. He rather curtly said to the effect of mind your own business to her. He also claimed he had 6 kids and one of those “Child pass” things. We passed it off until a bunch of kids came in and also asked to be put in the “Front Car” line.

So, when it was our turn to be put on the train, my wife mentioned to the CM that the guy had crawled under the bars. He didn’t deny doing this, he just started verbally abusing my wife. The CM told the guy he needed to step aside as he had gotten in the wrong lane. As she was the one putting people into the line, she didn’t remember putting him in either. He just kept up the abuse and the CM finally got him out of the line, but, he started dropping the ‘F’ bomb and moving way to close to my wife. I had to ‘persuade’ him to move away from her. He then started saying that I had hit him and wanted the CM to call the police. She didn’t give in to him and pushed him back into a waiting area totally out of the queue. Meanwhile, the CM loading the train loaded my wife and me onto a train and we had a great ride (as per normal). When the ride was over, there was a ‘shirt’ waiting at the landing. We also noted that the guy and his daughter were still standing in the neutral area and didn’t look like they were ever going to get on a ride.

The CM took us into a side room and asked for our side of what happened. I explained to him what happened and we offered to leave the park if necessary. He became extremely apologetic and basically begged us not to leave, giving us fast-passes for Primeval Whirl and Dinosaur. He didn’t even ask our names! When I expressed concern that the guy might try coming after my wife again, all he would say is that he would head the guy to another part of the park (I don’t know where that could be as Africa was closed). We didn’t see him again and are very glad of it.

And that is why she calls me ‘the Dragonslayer’ now.

the only wierd story I have is from our Disney trip 4 years ago (yes it stuck with me this long!!) We had just gotten to All Star Movies, checked in and hit the food court for lunch. The place was fairly empty, only two or three other tables were occupied on our side of the court. It was myself, DH and DD (8 at the time) enjoying lunch and relaxing. A woman, man and two small kids were a table or two behind us talking back and forth with the little boy, probably about 3 or 4. The dad handed the mom a diaper and the mom walked the little boy over to a booth :scared1: and proceeded to change his diaper...you could actually see the public restroom sign from where we were sitting in the food court...... When she came back to their table I guess her Dh told her we were watching (plus I think our mouths were still hanging open in shock) and she walked over to our table and said that we didn't know what it was like to have kids........DUH! DD was sitting right there! They are not born fully grown ya know! End of rant, I will never forget that! It was DH and DD's first trip to Disney and that was our first "magical" encounter!

Mine wasn't weird but rude. We were having dinner at Tony's, and just as we got there to check in for our ADR their computers went down so there ended up being a whole pile of us waiting to be seated. Then this woman came in with her husband and her three kids. You couldn't miss her, she was really loud about how she would have to wait for her seating reservation. (Mind you, there were about thirty of us already waiting at that point, and my group had been there for 15 minutes.) After a few minutes, she gets even louder and demands to speak to the manager. The manager calmed her down, and about five minutes later she's demanding to see the manager again. She did this three times in about ten minutes. The whole time she's going on and on about how she shouldn't have to wait, and about how her group should get seated immediately.

Finally my group got seated, and sure enough, her group was seated right behind ours. Then she got loud again about how she deserved to sit on the porch for dinner since she was inconvenienced. The CM pointed out to her that a lot of other people were inconvenienced too, and that she could go back out to the waiting area until a table on the porch was available. My kids and I couldn't believe how she was acting! She was really rude, but she served as a good lesson for my boys in how to act properly in public, and how to treat other people!

I'm surprised she didn't use the handy baby bidets they have all WDW!!!

A few weeks ago, my parents and I were in EPCOT for Illuminations. We were happily standing near the railing in Canada and to my Dad's right there was a couple with a little girl (and maybe another kid or two). The little girl crawls in between my mom and I and I hear the mother say, "right there near the lady's foot." Well, I look down and lo and behold, right near my right foot is a frog. The little girl reaches through the bars and touches the frog, who (smartly) jumps a little bit away. The mom then yells at the little girl saying she'll get warts and busts out the hand sanitizer. No big deal.

Well a few minutes later the little girl is crouching near my left side, trying to reach the frog again. Well, she can't reach it, so she sticks her leg through the rail and STOMPS on the poor frog. My mom and I just gaped at each other and we really thought the poor frog was a goner. Little kid scampers away and mom is now with dad smoking against the wall (I don't think she saw it). The kid was trying to get back to where she was, when I made my legs as wide as possible and hung my arm (with a shopping bag) over the rail so she couldn't kick the poor thing again.... she then starts throwing dirt at the poor frog. The frog is still not moving. She looks at me and says "Why isn't he moving." I put on my most sickeningly sweet voice and say "It's not moving because you kicked it and hurt it. That was not a nice thing to do. I think you should go find your mommy and not come back over here." (If I was smart I would have scared the living daylights out of the kid, but I was so stunned I was amazed I got that much out). Fortunately, after a last handful of dirt, the frog takes 3 BIG hops away.

So the kid goes to her original place on the other side of my dad. In the meantime, a duck had hurt it's right leg and was hopping up the grass near the railing (clearly, May 15 was a bad night to be an animal in EPCOT). My mom hears the little girl say "Come here duck, I'll pull your leg off."

This kid was a clearly a sociopath in the making. I am rarely speechless but there aren't many DIS-approved words for this one.

Saw a father turn his 4-yo looking boy towards the rock wall in the loading area of Splash Mountain, and guess what he did-yep! Let him go to the bathroom instead of getting out of line! Urinated right there in front of everyone; CM's included! No one said a word!

Now we know who put the 'p' in Splash Mountain.

I keep seeing references to people of certain cultural heritages being known for pushing 50 people through a line. I go to Disney at least once a year and have never experienced that.

What I did experience happened in the line at All-Star Music while my husband, 2 year old, infant, and myself were waiting for the bus to the Magic Kingdom. The hotel was crawling with teenaged girls who were there for the US High School Cheerleaders Competition. As we waited for the bus, we overheard the two middle aged women in front of us complaining because their girls' hair "wouldn't do" in the humidity. They were from Utah and not used to such sticky weather. Just as the bus pulled up, they called out, "Come on girls!" and at least 30 Utah Cheerleaders pushed in front of us to get on! They were sitting near the building and not in line at all. The two women were at the front and we were the next in line, but we didn't make it onto the bus!

They were American, so I don't think that we can claim that only people from other cultures are horribly rude. What was these women's excuse? Is the culture in Utah that different from Florida or was it because they were cheerleaders?

I have another bathroom one...luckily I didn't see it happen as I was sitting in the back of the bus, but my dad told me about it. We were on our way to the Pirate and Princess Party on 5/16 and the bus was going kind of slowly. I wasn't really paying attention so it didn't phase me. Well, when we get to the MK my dad said that the reason we were going so slowly was because this little boy had to go to the bathroom so bad that his mom pulled out a bottle and had him go in the bottle. :scared1: :confused3

In line for Tower of Terror, we were just getting ready to board the elevator. This guy in front of us is eating his popsicle. I was wondering if he was planning on finishing it before we got on. Well, the CM has us all lined up and we get on the elevator. The guy STILL has his popsicle. The CM tells him he needs to finish and the guy says something like "I was wondering when you were going to make me get rid of it" and proceeds to just hand it to the CM. It was just ridiculous. The wait time said 10 minutes but we literally walked right on, so maybe he thought he'd have time to finish before the ride actually started.

I tell you, I don't know what it is with Kids and the "wildlife" at the parks. They think its "fun" to abuse animals, chase squirrels in trees, and try and catch Ducks!:headache: Many a time I have had to yell at kids for trying to abuse animals, and I yell pretty loud: "Hey!! Leave the animals ALONE they belong here YOU don't!":furious:
