A few tips after my recent trip!

WOW! I am frieked :scared: !! If I am reading this correctly, you actually drink from the tub? You stop it up, fill with ice, and then send your children on countless trips to the food court for refills... Your kidding right? Maybe we all just misinterpeted this post :bitelip: . All I know is I wouldn't drink out of anything my 17 year old DS's feet were in :rotfl2: .

How do you bathe while there? Now that's a puzzler :listen:

I was thinking the same thing about bathing. EEEEWWWWWW :crazy2: !!!
Imagine walking around the parks all day, then not being able to bathe or shower cuz your tub is full of lemonade :scared1: !!! I certainly hope they were kidding. I think I would opt for drinking Beverly the whole trip rather than drinking out of the bathtub!!!!

Ok, time to end this. Some people are really starting to question whether or not my wife and I would let ourselves and our children drink out of a bathtub. I showed my wife and 12 year old daughter this thread last night. They died laughing and told me I had a really sick sense of humor. They also told me I better submit another post before someone they know in St. Louis read this and figured out it was us. For the record, we do not plug the tub and force our kids to make endless trips to the food court and drink out of the tub at Carribean Beach or any other hotel for that matter all to save $25 on soda. But, it is an idea that might work. I will try to think of more money saving gems like this one and pass them on. :rotfl2:

The drinks you described were from which park?

I am staying at POR and I understand that the drinks options are different at each park.

Those are the drink options at the resort food court at POFQ. For the most part, those are the drinks you'll find everywhere around Disney, although the refillable mugs are for your resort only. (Except POFQ and POR share cups as they are sister resorts so you could fill up at either food court.)

And as a side note...Blizzard Beach had a refillable mug for around $10. We didn't think that was a great deal simply because we weren't going to be spending enough time there to make it worthwhile.

:rotfl2: Well people actually believed ya... I have to admit- after what I've seen in the streets of NY- I was too afraid to comment....

:cheer2: :rotfl2: Ok you had me wondering! I am glad it was a joke...which is hard to convey in a message board or email. Glad for your family you were joking! :cheer2:

I have a vague (and icky) memory of reading about someone who asked for a lower thermostat for their room so they could keep meat without a frig. :confused3 You know - the whole bring a crock pot and save a few dollars theory. It was last year when I first joined. My husband declaired I was hanging out with a bunch of crazies, but I read on! I guess at this point I've learned a lot, but I'll still beleieve almost anything! Thanks for the laugh! :rotfl:

The solution is quite simple. :teacher: Upon arrival, stop at Costco or something and get a case of bottled water. Dump the water but keep the bottles/lids to store your soda/lemonade in. Fill the tub with ice and some cold water and voila...one very large ice cooler for your bottled beverages. When you need to shower in the morning, simply remove the bottles and replace them after everyone has showered.

I've used this technique on many road trips with the boys. Unfortunately, we didn't have the benefit of free refills, so the tub was just a convenient way to keep a couple of cases of beer ice cold.

I live in Canada, so at $35 for a case of 24...it better be ice cold!!! :drinking1

Since POFQ rooms include a fridge, keeping things cold isn't a problem now. And they have double sinks, so if the fridge isn't enough - just use one of those as the oversized ice bucket instead of the tub.

C'mon, no one really believed that, did they? It was a joke. Can you imagine how many trips it would take to fill your bathtub up with pink lemonade? My wife is at work and doesn't have internet access. I called and read her all your posts. She is ready to kill me. Please, someone post and tell her everyone knew no one would really do that. Especially not someone from St. Lo..... uhhh, I mean Sacramento, California, like us. You guys are cracking me up. Next thing you know, you guys are going to be telling me it was wrong to have my right first and middle finger surgically altered to identically match my wife's so that we only had to purchase one annual pass. Like everyone doesn't already do this. :hippie:

You had me weak laughing so hard. Good one.

I knew this would never work for my family. My DD puts towles down when she takes a shower. Someone on her cheerleading team told her once you could "catch something" and she has been doing that in hotels every since. It is kinda annoying, lol because I feel compelled to bag them up when she is done and personally take them to housekeeping so we don't cause too much trouble.

As for our drinks, we prefer the toilet. Much cleaner, and the top keeps the ice nice and cold...JUST KIDDING. :rotfl:

Thank-you...Thank-you....Thank-you for the great tips....
We'll be using them during our trip!!!

A few other things based on other posts I've read around the boards recently.

Even though they state a check-in time of 3:00pm, don't worry if you get there early. We were there before 11:00am and thought we'd have to wait for our room to be ready, but we didn't. It was ready for us. We had a car, so we were planning on just leaving everything in the car while we headed off to Epcot for lunch at World Showcase, but we were able to unpack.

Don't forget to sign up for Ghiradelli g-mail within 30 days of your trip to get your Buy 1, get 1 free sundae coupon. Since the sundaes are $6.95 each, it's well worth getting the coupon for that special treat.

For our grocery shopping, we headed off to Super Target. It was pretty easy to get to. What we'd done was go out by Downtown Disney (Buena Vista Drive) then take a right to go down by the hotels. This takes you right out to S.R. 535. Right across was Goodings supermarket which was close, but pricey. If you take a right and follow that all the way to 192, then take a left onto 192, Target is right up the street on the left. Worth the trip for us.

Also, right outside the resort on SR 535 were a bunch of restaurants. McDonald's, TGIFriday's and Uno's were right across from the street when you come out of Disney. Take a left and you've got Subway, Dunkin Donuts, IHOP, Chili's, Macaroni Grill (we ate here twice - used Chili's gift card - same company owns both), Joe's Crab shack (ate there too, using one of our Rainforest gift cards since they are owned by the same company). If you take a right onto 535, there's Golden Corral, Bennigans and a bunch of others. (I wrote some down, but I have the list at home.) So for anyone looking to save some $$ on food, going off-site is a great option especially since it's so close.

I love your sense of humor, unfortunately as outlandish as it may have seemed, some people were ready to believe you!!!!!!!

That's what I did wrong I signed up and got the online coupon. Since it doesn't let you update your preference, I had to sign in again with my work email.
I hope the coupon is sent before I leave.

So if i understand it well, you can buy a refillebel mug for each Parc ?
For MK, MGM, Animal Kingdom and Epcot ?
And you can re-fill it in the parc you buy it ?

The mugs are only available and refilleable at the WDW resort you are staying at and only for the duration of your stay.
No mugs for the parks.

Denise

Thank you for your answer.
We are staying off site. Springhill Suites at Lake Buana Vista.
So no re-fill mug for us.

Well, I personally like the idea of filling up the toilet with ice and letting the lid keep it cold. Just add some koolaid and you're all set! Just make sure your koolaid is some color other than yellow or you could get mixed up............. :rotfl2:

Actually I got the idea of using the toilet for drinking from my cat. Now he knows a good thing! :woohoo: However, for those of you who have a cat and want to use the toilet as an "endless" water bowl, a little tip--don't let the water level go too far down in the toilet. One day I caught my dc (dear cat), half way down the drain hole. The water level was almost empty (guess he was thirsty), then he got curious about what was in the hole. He was a half-grown kitten at the time and small enough to fit. I caught his hind legs just as he was about to disappear into another dimension. :lmao: So, for all those of you with cats and toilets (we all have at least one of those, don't we?) don't let the water level in the toilet go too low. and always check for cats before you flush! :rolleyes2 :listen:
