Hi everyone!

After a decade of Disney hotel trips we're planning on returning to Ft. Wilderness next month. I don't know if anyone remembers us but we're the couple with the ancient Airstream and the Grateful Dead stickers :) It's been a while since we've camped at Disney and I was wondering about a few things.

-If I bring my electric skillet would it be considered rude to prepare things like bacon outside? There's not a lot of room in our trailer and hubby likes to sleep in. I just don't want to upset anyone with our early morning cooking smells!

-We're bringing our small dog along and have reserved a pet site. Would he be allowed outside with us if he's on a tie down (It's a lightweight cable on a swivel stake thingy) or do we need a pen of some sort? We wouldn't leave him outside unless we're there too.

-I was hoping to have a BBQ with some friends who are staying elsewhere on Disney property before we all go to the Halloween Party, maybe five or six people. We're a pretty sedate bunch, just planning on grilling and visiting but we'd need to be outside. Is it okay for us to have non-FW guest friends over?

-We have a screen house and one of those EZ Up shade covers. Which would work out best? I'm leaning toward the screen house thinking we could leave a few things like the lanterns and tablecloth out if we did that. Is there a downside to a screen house that I'm not thinking of?

Sorry if these have been already asked. I did try a search but couldn't find answers for these. I'm not very computer savvy I'm afraid!

I also wanted to say how much I enjoyed all of the picture threads! I spent most of the afternoon looking at all of the set-ups and planning ours!

Thanks so much,

Jennifer

Only if you don't cook enough to share. ;)

That's fine.

yep, just let the front desk know, they need to check in at the gate.

A screen house is awesome. :thumbsup2

Have a great time.

:welcome: to the camping forum.

I don't see any problems with your cooking bacon outside in a skillet. You are camping after all.
I just love waking up to the the smell of bacon cooking in the campground in the morning.:lovestruc

Mmmm, bacon.

There ain't much better than sitting outside in the morning when camping, enjoying a cup of coffee and smelling the aroma of bacon cooking. Go for it. In fact, most everything you questioned would be perfectly fine.

Only one potential problem. You mentioned Grateful Dead stickers. You don't by any chance play an accordian, do you? We have a member here who camps at the Fort quite often that is extremely afraid of accordians.

Sounds like you are good to go.

Nothing beats the smell of bacon cooking in the morning.

FW is made for friends & family.

Make sure you tie down your EZ up canopy. They tend to fly around at times.

Thank all of you very much! We do want to be good neighbors.

The Grateful Dead stickers are purely sentimental. Our camper is over 40 years old and she's collected an interesting decorative scheme along the years.

If our BBQ guests are at the Boardwalk they can take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the boat right? Is there a better way? We'll be having margaritas and sangria and no one needs to drive ;)

Thanks again,

Jennifer

Welcome back to the most magical place on earth! The Fort! :yay:

Come on down and be yourself! We love to cook outside as well when we are there. Sometimes we even do breakfast at night!! :thumbsup2

I think one of the great things about the Fort is that you can feel at home. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Hope you have an amazing trip!!!

Were you there last Halloween? And yes you can do all of this

And remember everyone will want to see the Airstream and taste the bacon.

Now, that is what I was thinking....

This is ok as long as they leave before MK closes.
If MK is closed, bus to whatever park has EMH then bus or boat to BW ,
or bus to DTD then bus to BW.

:thumbsup2 I'm with everyone on the bacon outside. In fact, I believe it's mandatory. Have a great trip!

Thanks again everyone!

No, we weren't there for Halloween :rotfl: I put up a post earlier in the year wondering if our camper was going to be the local eyesore in the preferred/premium loopss. It's really, really, really old. Everyone gave me much reassurance that we would be fine.

I will pack extra bacon. If any of you happen to be at Ft. Wilderness October 9-16 and see a 1964 (I think, it could be 1966) Airstream stop on by!

Thanks for the transportation tips. They'll be coming in the early afternoon. We're going to hang out at the trailer and then take the boat over to the Magic Kingdom for the party. They'll take the Disney bus back to the Boardwalk when it's over.

Thanks again, I'm sure I'll be back with more questions before we leave!

LOVE the smell of bacon in the morning! The best! And as a PP said, I've even smelled it looping @ 2:00 am in the past after extended hours at Epcot!

We'll be there at the same time next month and I'll stop by on one of our looping adventures!

Sadly we weren't at the Fort, but there was bacon cooking outside our TT this a.m. A camping staple to be sure!! :thumbsup2

We will be there the week of the Oct 9 - 16 too. (76 Airstream, 96 Buick woody wagon, 3 overly excite boys, 4 bicycles, 2 Mickey lamps, green ears, zoned out dad!). We will add the smell of bacon, toast, eggs, hash (and general smells 3 excited kids can create). Is it wrong to have a beer in the morning? pirate:
