A few questions!

Hello all! Me and my boyfriend are not, or can not get married for a long time, due to I just graduated and am in the process of finding a job. But we def. know we want to get married within the next 1 or 2 years! Anyways, I have just a few questions about disney weddings. I have been reading over the DIS board and think that it would be amazing to have our wedding there. He has never been, but we are going this year. My question is, how much do you think the most simple wedding would cost? We both want simple, and the cheaper the better. But, we would def. have more than 18 guests. Maybe like +/- 30. Which of all the diff. types of ceremonies would you think is best? Is it cheaper to do your own floral arrangments? I love doing crafts and working with flowers. Is that possible to do your own? If you dont get the photographer is it cheaper or is that just something you cant take out? Once we fget back from this trip we are gonna take I am going to go ahead and start my savings account o possibly save enough money for a disney wedding Also, when you do a disney wedding, is it the bride and groom's responsibility to provide transportation to Disney World for all of the guests?? I have no clue about weddings!!! I need as much help as I can get!!! I really appreciate any help!

If you're having more then 18 you'll have to have a Wishes wedding. for 2010 it's a minium of 12,000(Monday-Thursday) This is doable. I'm hoping to do it, and I know lurkyloo did it. We're planning on about 30 guests as well. there are lots of rules with a Disney wedding. If you have a wedding that is outside Disney Floral has to do all your floral, but that counts towards the min. No, your guests pay for their own transportation to Disney and their own rooms. (we did put our parents rooms in our budget, since they're paying for the wedding) You'll pay and arrange transporation to your wedding and reception if it's in the parks.

You can also hold a wedding at the Swan and Dolphin, but I don't know how much those cost.

I think I read that new pricing recently came out - so double check this. But it used to be that it is much cheaper, the minimums are much lower, to get married during the week. If you get married on a Sat then I think the min is $20,000 compared to like $10,000 in the low season during the week. Double check to make sure my quotes are close to accurate. But I think its something like that.

If you are trying to do something less expensive than that then I would go with a Disney Cruise. I think it ranges from like 1800-3500. We are doing it and I am not even sure what it costs. The nice thing is that you can invite as many people as you want. You just have to pay for some extra champage, I think they only give you 8 glasses worth in the package.

Also we are choosing to pay for our guests staterooms and first hotel night at disney - because we want a lot of our friends and family who couldn't otherwise afford it to come to join us. Usually each guest is responsible for their own air, hotel and park tickets. Disney offers special group packages and rates.
I think what Characterfan is talking about is that disney requires charter bus transportation from the hotels to certain venues depending on the locations.

Also something to keep in mind with the wishes weddings is that there is a minimum number of hotel rooms you have to have booked. So you have to encourage your guests to stay at disney in your room block. Again I really don't know what the exact number is but I think you have to guarantee at least 25(?) room nights, I could be wrong it might only be 15. Hopefully someone can tell us exactly what it is and clarify.

The 2010 mins are: for January, February, September, December
12,000 Monday-Thursday
15,000-Friday & Sunday
20,000-Saturday

Yes, if you are having it in the parks, Disney requires you to rent a bus to transport everyone to your ceremony and/or reception.

You do have to book 25 nights between all your guests, and if you're planning to honeymoon at Disney you can fill 25 nights in no time.

Thanks guys! I think if the saving starts as soon as we get back it could work! I think it would def. be in the off/slow season b/c its cheaper and less people! You guys are so much help! Now I def. know that it can be done. I just gotta start setting aside as much money as possible!

We just met with a Disney wedding consultant on our trip to Disney and they changed their minimums. There are no longer different seasons for weddings. The minimum on any Mon-Thurs is $12,000, for Sun and Fri it's $15,000 and for Saturday it's $15,00. They also raised the cost of the wedding pavilion from $2,000 to $3,000.
