A few questions

Hello,

First, thank you for all the warm welcomes to the board. I feel like I fit right in here. My best friend, her 11 year old son, my 6 year old girl and my 3 year old girl are headed there March 17th-March 20th.

I know I'll be in France but are all the rides in French and how about the shows and short movies? I speak very little French and even less German. I do think it'll be wonderful seeing people from all over in one place though!

Also, what time does the park open in the morning for "Extra Magic Hours"?

Is the drive from the Davie Crokett Ranch to the park long?

Has anyone been to DLP for the St. Patrick's Day celebration? How is that?

Any suggestions for us, we are staying for 3 days, 2 nights. I have been to WDW probably 10 times so I'm REALLY looking foward to DLP!

The shows, with Honey I Shrunk The Audience for Example, it has around 6 different doors - around half are for French speakers. You will need to get into the 'Translation' line.

I think it's the same as the one in WDW (not sure as we didn't go in WDW).

Then you'll have headsets and you pick the language. The funny thing is, the show is in English as it has the proper HISTK Characters, but dubbed in French - so you'll be listening to the 'proper' version of it through your headset. IMHO I don't think it detracts from the show.

The Moteurs Show is both in French and English. Both times I've been to see it there is an English guy on set who seems to be in charge of the show. He'll repeat everything that's said in French in English.

Beauty and the Beast - someone else will have to clarify that, as I haven't seen it yet. DBF refuses to watch!

I'm fluent in French, DBF doesn't speak a word, yet I didn't have to explain anything to him once. I found that often I address someone in French but would get a reply in English - don't worry about the language barrier

Sorry I can't answer the other questions!

But I will say it's a dog eat dog world out there when it comes to Characters in DLRP - unless they have changed for the better in the last year, there is no organisation if the character happens to appear randomly in the park. At first I was afraid of pushing to the front (as the twenty others were doing) but I soon learned I would never get to see them if I was too polite. Don't be afraid to just jump in there!

the drive from DCR to the park is about 10 mins at the most if i remember rightly and has the handy advantadge of being able to visit the Auchen supermarket near Val D`europe shopping centre and stock up on goodies for the park!!

Welcome.

The park opens for EMH 2 hours before normal opening time- so this means you can usually get in at 8.00. The EMH are really worth the early mornings.

We are going to DCR this Christmas for the first time and am really excited - that is first time at DCR not first at DLP tho.

You may also find that some of the characters that don't wear masks are English CMs and as these characters are allowed to speak, unlike Mickey, Donald etc, they will revert to speaking in English.

We were in the queue for Peter Pan when it broke down and we all had to leave. However, Peter Pan and Wendy suddenly appeared to cheer up those that had been waiting for the ride and both CMs were English and spoke mostly English to everyone around them. The Mary Poppins we met was also an English CM, so again there was no language problem.

It really isn't to big an issue as the second language appears to be English, so most things are translated. When meeting the characters, as in WDW, most of them wear masks or full head gear, so can't speak anyway, so all communication is done with a comic sort of sign language which is universal.
