A few questions regarding trip payment

Hello! I searched for some answers but couldn't seem to find anything that seemed to help.

Once package rates come out for next year (we're planning a January 2015 trip) I plan to book. However, I'm a bit confused as to how exactly to navigate the payment process. I'm pretty sure that with a package booking, a $200 deposit is required. Is this per person or per room? Also, if I wanted to split the trip in half and pay separately am I able to do that (for example, there are two of us going - can we have the trip cost halved and then each pay for our "portion" with our own payment method)?

I hope this makes sense and any help is GREATLY appreciated as I am so confused!

You would probably be able to split it if you call and have both cards. Then when you make payments just call separately and pay on the reservation number.

A $200 deposit is required per reservation, so if it's just one package, just $200. It would probably be easiest if one person paid that deposit in full, then the other person could make a $200 payment online or by phone after the reservation is made. As long as you have the reservation number, you can apply a payment to it. It won't be a problem that it's two different people.

I have the same questions too. When is the last day to finish paying off the package? 60 days before your arrival?

I am in this boat, so I can only tell you what my friend and I are doing :) I made the reservation over the phone, so I paid the $200 deposit myself (half with cash, the other half with Disney GCs). I deducted the $200 from my half of the trip because it was just easier that way. I gave my friend the same information that the CM told me while I was on the phone -- you can call the WDW reservation line at any time to make payments over the phone, and you can pay however much you want (until the day the balance is due, anyway) with any form of accepted payment. So, if you want to pay your half with multiple Disney GCs, the CM will definitely allow you to do so! If your friend wants to pay her half with credit card, that's fine, too. The CM will always ask you how much you want to pay.

Obviously, your friend can also just give you his/her portion of the trip as well (this is what my friend chose to do since I'm the planner of our trip), and you would be able to call and make the payment yourself. I think WDW will snail mail you an updated statement/balance every time a payment is made -- I just received an invoice with the remaining balance myself. However, I've only made one payment, so I'm not sure if this is true or not!

I have the same questions too. When is the last day to finish paying off the package? 60 days before your arrival?

Package: 45 days prior to arrival. If you're reserving the package within 45 days before your arrival, it is due at time of booking. If it is a room-only reservation, balance is due at check-in.

Thanks. I'm doing a package. Can i do online check-in before i pay off everything. Or do i have to finish first?

I actually don't know! I've never done online check-in. I googled it, and I can't find an official answer. However, I did find a reader comment on a blog who said you do need to pay the full balance before you can check-in online. I would call WDW Reservation office to make sure, though.

I'm 54 days out & can do my online check in now if I want. The link button went live (clickable) on my 60 day date. I've gotten right to the hit submit point & haven't completed the check in yet...

I have a 3 resort split, so I'm going to do all my online check in's at the same time - when the 3rd reservation link goes live. (Trip is not yet paid for 100%)

You can do it without the package being completely paid for, but there's no real advantage to doing it so early.
