A Few Questions (Package & WL)

Hello all! I have a few questions that have been on my mind for a while.

1. My fiance and I will be going on our "Disneymoon" May 2009. We plan on booking through AAA, but I know that a lot of times, codes come out for discounts on packages for May. If we book through AAA and a discount comes out, do you know if out TA will be able to change the package to take off the AAA discount and add on the code, or will we have to cancel our AAA booking and rebook through Disney?

2. Will 12 nights be plenty or too much time for 2 people who have never been to WDW (we go to DL about 1 time per year)? We are also wanting to take a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center, and we don't care about going to the water parks.

3. We are getting married on Saturday May 2, so I was thinking of flying to Orlando on Monday the 4th and back on Saturday May 16. Is a Monday a good day for check-in? In other words, will I be dealing with tons of people checking in that day?

4. We plan on staying at the Wilderness Lodge (love the GCH here) as it seems to offer what we want at a good price for a deluxe: Proximity to a theme park, quiet, and a quick service counter for food. We want to try to save some money, so are looking at booking a Woods view (don't want to get stuck with a standard view... I have heard what most of those are like). Are the Woods views generally quiet? What about the bugs... are they problematic at the WL especially being near lots of trees?

Hello!

Here's my take on your questions. Hope it helps!

1. I believe AAA could do that for you, but I am not sure. You could always rebook from scratch when the code is released. It's not that difficult to cancel a reservation and make a new deposit.

2. Twelve nights will be perfect. There is so much to do. You do not need to leave Disney property to stay busy either. If you do visit the Kennedy Space Center, you may want to visit the Atlantic Ocean, too. It's been about 15 years, but I remember a beautiful trip to Cocoa Beach.

3. From my experience, Sunday is the busy check-in day. So Monday should be fine.

4. The Woods View rooms are quiet. However, Disney may give you a complimentary upgrade since you are on your honeymoon, and I found the Courtyard rooms to be quiet, too. AND BEAUTIFUL.

I was there in August 2006 (during free-dining no less), and my room was super quiet. The only time we heard noise was when we stepped out into the hall and could hear Whispering Canyon's waitstaff causing their usual uproar and I LOVED THAT. It was so cool.

If it was my honeymoon, I would go ahead and book a Courtyard room. And I would try to be right over top of the lobby. That's what we did and I never regretted it. When you open your door to go to the parks and the first thing you see is that breathtaking lobby, you feel like you are in Disney World (which for me, is another way of saying Mecca). And when you open your door in a Woods View room, all you see is walls and carpet and ceiling. For me, the Courtyard View adjacent to the lobby was MAGIC.

AAA can absolutely add a code if it comes out! We were at WL this past May. What a great time of year! The weather was awesome, pool was great. THere were some love bugs, but not too bad. 12 days sounds so nice. Take plenty of time to enjoy the surrounding resorts. Take a walk to Fort Wilderness- you could book a buggy ride for two or watch outside movies and roast marshmallows with Chip and Dale. Take a night to go to the Poly and watch the MK fireworks from the beach with the music piped in. Just walk around the beautiful Grand Floridian- I have read you can book a private photo shoot there.

Thanks for the help! I think as it gets closer to booking, I may ask my fiance about a courtyard view. I just remembered that he said if we get to stay at the Grand Californian again, he would love to have a room over the lobby, so I may pose this idea to him (I personally would love to have the courtyard view!).

Also, have any of you done the new deluxe dining package? It seems to cost a lot more, but we think that we may use a lot of the counter service meals. When we go to DL, we generally eat a few table service as well as many counter service meals during our trip. Would Roaring Forks count as a counter service?
Do you think the deluxe dining is worth the extra cost over the regular dining package? (My fiance can eat quite a bit, but I have a small apetite).

The Deluxe Dining plan is only worth it if you want to eat at a lot of table service meals or are planning a lot of Signature Dining Meals. Personally it seems like you would have to spend loads of time eating to make it worth it, as the average table service meal takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours. However, it is your honeymoon and taking it slow and enjoying some really good meals may be nice!
I envision using the Deluxe plan for a character breakfast and Signature Dining at night!
