DH and I have been debating on whether or not we should do the DDP again on our upcoming trip.

I know that the 2011 rates aren't out yet but was hoping to get a idea of the least amount that this will cost me if we go with DDP.

How much per day is an adult on DDP? How much is a child per day?

Also, what is the difference between premium dining, platinum dining, and deluxe dining? Not that I could ever afford that route, I'm just curious because I can't see a difference when reading the info on Disney's site.

For 2010, the rates are:

QSDP: $31.99/adult/night, child $9.99/night
DDP: $41.99/adult/night, $11.99/child/night (plus $6/adult/night, $1/child/night in "peak" season)
DxDP: $71.99/adult/night, $20.99/child/night

Note that it is priced, and the number of credits allocated are based on the number of nights of your stay, not days.

Premium and Platinum include:

  • Meal credits can be used for any meal as a single credit; there are no "2 credit meals" on Premium and Platinum
  • Additional restaurants are added: Portobello, Fulton's, Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex (I believe), and Victoria & Albert's (Platinum only)
  • Unlimited resort activities (water sports, tennins. golf, fishing, jet ski, horseback rides, mini golf, etc.) are included
  • Tickets to La Nouba; once per stay
  • Unlimited use of the children's activity centers (for an adult's night out, don't you know)
  • Unlimited use of tours (park admission typically required)

Platinum further adds:

  • Unlimited use of in-room child care
  • Reserved Fantasmic! seating; once per stay
  • Fireworks cruise (Wishes or Illuminations); once per stay
  • Spa treatment once per stay (10 and up, 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult)
  • 1 free Photopass CD per party
  • Richard Petty ride-along (14 and up only)

Wow! Those pricier packages do offer a lot! Maybe something we'd look into in the future :)

Thanks so much for the info on the pricing. We're going Easter Week so I'm assuming that'd be where the additional $6 would come into play? I'm trying to now figure out if we would be eating on less than $109 a day. Probably not because we're going to be adding in a few character meals. I'm going to do the math now!

Thanks for the info. I know that the prices will at least be the same as last year if not more so I now have an idea as to what the cost will be for us.

:thumbsup2

I'd personally love to do Platinum for a short (maybe 2 nights) adults-only stay at some point in the future. Requires the time, budget, and snookering the folks into looking after the kids, though. The last one is probably the hardest. :lmao:

Yes, that would be "peak". Note that many of the meals (especially the buffets) have a peak season surcharge as well.

If economizing is the goal, it's hard to say that DDP is the best way to do that. Packing lunches and snacks, ordering off the low ends of menus, etc., will likely come out to less in the long run. The question should be is the overall vacation experience worth what you're going to pay for dining?

It should work for planning purposes. If plan costs go up, so too will the OOP, most likely.

Do you know if the QSDP rates increase during peak season?

No idea what will happen in 2011, but in 2010 only the rates for the basic (regular) dining plan increased in peak season. There was no increase for the QSDP or the DXDP.

Thank you! I'm not sure that QSDP is the way to go because frankly, for $10 more I'd rather sit down for a meal. We will most likely end up going OOP and then just paying for the few meals we want to eat. We'll see! I suppose it will also depend on what the rest of our family thinks they want to do.

Just saw a post about 2011 Dining Prices..had QS at 49.99 a person and DDp at 69.99..I didnt look last that. Those prices at now out of my league!!!

You know, I saw those prices too on a post but I thought the OP was joking. I would NEVER do either plan at those prices! We would eat for much less than that per day OOP.

That was a joke post. If you read further, they said those prices were for a drink only (or a cup of ice if you're on QS). 2011 dining plan prices are due out sometime next month if Disney follows its usual procedure in releasing prices for package add-ons.
