I just wanted to ask a few people in the know about planning a Disney wedding. A few random questions..

What do you guys think is the best place for the wedding? How is the Wedding Pavilion? In your opinion is it the best of the 3 options for the Intimate wedding?

How far in advance should one book their time and date? Is it too late for December or January?

Any money-saving tips for planning the wedding?

Thanks to all and great forum!! :)

Hi and welcome and congrats! :goodvibes Well, first you need to consider how many guests you're going to have at the wedding...big or small? Then, you need to decide what time of year you want to get marriend and kinda what theme you're going for to decide between the wedding locations. I wanted a low-key intimate beach theme wedding, so Sea Breeze Point was perfect for me! Sunset Point is perfect for a beach theme too! I guess you really need to figure out what you want exactly first. Each location offers something different. I booked my wedding for early June last September...so I booked 9 months in advance. Wow...and for money saving tips...I wish I had done more that...haha! You can't forget how much it costs for all the little things and details...plus, don't forget money for all the Honeymoon spending! Congrats again! :mickeyjum

So you did 9 months in advance... is that typically the cut off or can you still book it say 4 or 6 months in advance?

We'd like to save money on the wedding part as much as possible and still have a nice small wedding, and then splurge on the honeymoon and stay 10 or 12 days...

Thanks for the reply!

I am not sure about the booking time, but I would guess around 6 months. Your best bet is to just call and ask. Plus, it all depends on where you want to get married and if there are any spots open for around that time. I know when I called 9 months in advance they didn't have the day available I wanted, so I had to back it up a few days and I was not able to get the time I wanted. It all works out, but that was calling 9 months in advance. That's what I chose to do as well. I saved on the money the best I could and still had a beautiful, classy wedding! It was perfect! We splurged on the honeymoon, but only stayed a week and we saved money, where we stayed by not blowing all the money on your hotel room. You're never there any way and that's an easy way to save! We switched resorts after 4 nights and saved big bucks!

they recommend that you call a year in advance usually, to make sure that you get the date and time and venue that you want.

I am sure I read somwhere that Disney can plan a wedding with about 4 weeks notice, though I wouldn't advise it.
I booked mine 6 months before. I had plenty of time to do everything I needed to do.
The only thing is I should have given my guests moe time to save up for it, as we live in England it costs a lot to go to Florida, even for a week.
We had our wedding at the Yacht Club Gazebo. We stayed in the Yacht Club resort so it was nice to just step out of the hotel and we were there.
Plus you have the Boardwalk right next to the Yacht & Beach resorts and Epcot & MGM within 5 minutes walk too. It was perfect for us and our guests.

If you are flexible with your location, date and time, you can book as little as 30 days in advance. That is Disney's minimum for planning an intimate wedding. As far as saving money, it is cheaper going with a location other than the wedding pavilion which adds about $1,000 to your cost. That being said, the wedding pavilion is absolutely beautiful and that is where we had our 4:00 pm vow renewal because I was so afraid of an afternoon thunderstorm. Sunset Pointe only allowed 10 guests, so keep that in mind with your planning.
