A few questions for past Disney brides

Hi everyone!
Just had a couple of questions Im hoping you girls can help me with.
Has anyone who hasnt had a dj had characters come to their reception and did this work? I have seen lots of videos where the dj has introduced Mickey and Minnie and the Mickey Mouse march has been played and am a little concerned how their entrance will be without this? Did anyone not take a bouquet to their MK shoot? Would this look ok?
Is it possible to return to your reception venue if you leave? We are having our reception at the Sonoma room at the Contempory and are hoping to book a Wishes cruise. Could we go out for the cruise then come back?
And finally hair and make up reccommendations. I am really concerned about my hair and make up. I hardly ever wear make up and if I do it is bare minerals because I have really sensitive skin, I dont want to look fantastic on the day and then suffer with spots for the rest of my honeymoon. I am also worried about my hair and make up staying put all day with the humidity. I have very fine, wavey, frizzy, uncooperative hair and just the mention of humidity makes it go crazy. I know all these people are professionals and must know how to cope with the weather conditions but for my peace of mind and to pick the person that is right for me any reccommendations from people that had the same worries would be fantastic.

I don't have answers to a lot of your questions, but for the makeup and hair I can suggest Anna from Makeover Majic. I have only had my trial so far, but she did a fantastic job and was easy to work with on all my ideas. Will you be there a few days before your wedding? Maybe you could schedule a trial run through a couple of days in advance; that could help calm your worries.

I can't answer the question about Mickey and Minnie without a DJ. I know that you will want to coordinate with your WP for their ideas.

For the flowers at the MK photoshoot. I paid Disney an additional fee for a refresh. The florist brought the flowers to us inside the MK at 5 am.

You pay for x numbers of hours for your reception. So you can't pause your hours and then pick it back up if that makes sense. Talk to your WP about what you have in place. I am not sure what all of your plans are.

As for hair and makeup...I totally understand. I have really sensitive skin and I have naturally curly/frizzy hair. I used Lisa Pena and was thrilled. Her web address is lisasmagicalweddings.com I have used her for several events at Disney and never had one ounce of problem.

We haven't had our wedding day yet but we are thinking of having Mickey and Minnie and are not having a DJ or party of any sort as our guest number is so small, only ten of us so far.

We are having a reception meal but we have discussed having something like the cake cutting reception that the Escape brides have before our meal and having Mickey and Minnie turn up at that time so that we can also have professional photos with them in our time constants.

We haven't contracted in yet so I haven't talked to our planner yet but my contact at Disney says there should be no problem doing this as they have had other girls that have done it.

We had the jazz trio and we did have Mickey & Minnie. I believe the person who announced them was just one of the CM's at the LS. It's not just the characters that get announced though, it's also things like, time to eat, time to cut the cake, etc. I'm sure there is someone designated to do things like that at any reception without a DJ.

Hi! Regarding hair and makeup, I did a trial run with Patricia LeJeune (http://www.lejeune-pca.com), and she was great! My hair is also fine, wavy and usually frizzy in humidity. However, a weird thing happened - for the first time ever, my naturally curly hair wouldn't curl!

She was great about working around this, and she spent almost four hours with me working on getting exactly the look I want. Patricia is also a big believer in natural-looking wedding makeup. She said, "If you don't generally wear makeup, I refuse to make you up like Pamela Anderson on your wedding day!"

I would have to second Anna. She was fantastic to work with, even with the difficult group that I had. She kept me very calm and was wonderful with my unruly hair and very sensitive skin. I did not do a trial run with her but brought her some pictures of how I wanted my hair and she got it on the first try. HTH.

We didn't have a DJ and did have Donald Duck. I really didn't want "announcements" at my wedding (a request that was unfortunately, partially ignored.) For Donald, an annoucement really wasn't necessary. Our pianist played something upbeat as he arrived, and all the kids rushed over to Donald as he made his way into the main area. Also, I overheard some of the CMs talking about Donald's arrival when I was walking to the bathroom at one point, so perhaps some of our other guests also found out about the "surprise guest" ahead of time.

We had a band so we had them announce that the bride and groom had invited special guests to the wedding - they then played the intro to Fantasmic and Mickey and Minnie walked in the room. It was great!!

Also about the hair and makeup - My hair is always frizzy and terrible when I'm in the florida humidity but I used Anna from Makeover Majic and my hair was perfect the whole time!! (we were even outside for part of the wedding and no frizz!) She's great!
