I'm in the process of putting together what we will keep in our Owner's Locker. We are getting out box at the start of our WDW/DCL trip in October. I have a few questions for those that use the OL's.

1 - Do you put any of the liquids you keep in plastic bags in case they spill - or has that even been an issue? I know its not like the boxes are tossed around like luggage but I was curious if anyone has ever had something spill in the owners locker while kept in storage?

2 - How often do you find yourself having to resupply - or is there anything in particular you find you have to replinsh each trip (if anything)?

3 - Do you have a template for your inventory and if so would you mind sharing? I have a good idea of what I need but I guarantee I wouldn't think of something that many of you have.

4 - Do you use the organizer tray - have you found it useful? How thick is the organizer tray? I know its 9x12 inches but I wasn't sure how thick.

Thanks in advance - you guys are ALWAYS helpful!!!

The only thing I have in plastic ziploc type bags are my smelly things..dryer sheets & a Renuzit solid deoderizer. We have full size products so I don't need to replace them too often, had OL for about 2 years and just last trip I had to replace our shower gel. We don't use the organizer tray, found it took up too much room for us and we don't have much small stuff to put in it. I just have a list of things we have in it and when we repack, if I need something for next trip, I make a list for next trip. Enjoy it, it sure is worth it.

We've found that zipper bags really don't contain the smelly things. We had some of those laundry sheets that you toss in the wash and then into the dryer. They seemed like a good idea, but even triple bagged, they contaminated the bottled water in the locker--it all tasted like perfume. We're bringing a bottle of unscented liquid detergent next time. I keep a list of what's in the locker on my iPhone, as well as a list of things we need.

We use the organizer tray for first aid supplies - you can't fit anything big in it, but it holds quite a bit of small items - band-aids, Neosporin, a sewing kit, etc.

I think we only have some really smelly dryer sheets in a Ziplok bag. I've never put our liquids in bags - we have contact lens solution, shampoos, maybe a bottle of Tide (we've switched to Purex 3-in-1 sheets for laundry).

I just keep track of expiration dates on my inventory for anything that has one, and then while we are there, I also mark on a printed inventory list anything that is running low or almost expired, so I know to bring some next time. We've had ours for 2 years now, and our next trip will be the first time we will have anything that we have to throw out due to expiration dates.

If you go infrequently, it might not make sense to keep many expiring items. Our first 2 years we were there 5 times, so we were able to use up most of the day-to-day stuff with expiration dates.

I don't know of any inventory template - I just print out the one on the OL site with all my items listed on it.

Hmm....do you mind pointing me to where on the site this at? I looked around and didn't see anything that popped out at me.

Go to the My Account tab - sign in to your account - then you click on your locker - there's a link @ the bottom that says "Edit Locker". That takes you to a screen where you add the items you have in your locker - that's the inventory.

I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for, but that's what I was referring to.

I use the larger ziplock bags to organize a few things, not so much for spills just organizing. I have all of our first-aid / med type stuff in one of those with the expanding bottoms (assorted band-aids, blister block, moleskin, OTC meds in small bottles which include Benadryl, Immodium, Advil, Tylenol, Aleve). I also have one with lotions & stuff. I have another one for lanyards & FP holders, another for small fans, another for batteries etc. Personally I removed the plastic bin box & dividers & brought it home - most of my stuff wouldn't fit into the little cubbies & I can "mold" stuff to stuff it all into the locker with the ziplocks. They're just more flexible. Our locker is soooo stuffed that I have to sit on the lid while DH anchors it shut!! I do not worry about spills as I ensure everything is closed right as I repack it. (Now if there was something with a pump dispenser like maybe a liquid handsoap I might stick that into a sandwich size ziplock just to be sure the pump doesn't get depressed.)

I have my own inventory list that I made to suit my anal retentive nature & as someone else noted, I keep track of any expiration dates for meds, sunscreens & batteries. When I'm packing it back up I just go thru & note how many are left of everything too so I know what I need to replace on our next trip. For example I know I need more Q-tips & Advil Cold & Sinus next time we go...

I LOVE our Owners Locker. Downside is we don't have any other trips planned to FL until I don't know when. It might be 18 months b4 we go again so almost everything will need to be updated / replaced when we do go. I can tell you that when we went to HH this summer I REALLY hated having to pack EVERYTHING!! Next summer we're going to DLP and then doing a Med DCL & I will have to again pack EVERYTHING! I really dread it. I wish we could have our OL put on the Magic before she sails to Europe!!:rolleyes1

I love our OL. We went to the beach instead of WDW and I really disliked having to pack everything for that trip.

THANK YOU!!!

Also - thank you to everyone else for your responses. I am definetly excited to start using our OL. I tried to get my husband to do it a couple of years ago but he wasn't 100% on it - this time I pretty much sold him on the idea and he bought (it could have something to do with the fact we will be there 3 times in the next 18 months).

I get cautious when it comes to liquid. Depending on the way the bottles seal or capped. We pack our locker in a way that holds the bottles upright. If I think there is a chance of spillage we put them in a ziplock. The bell services guys seem to treat the lockers just fine. Most lockers are too heavy to toss around. They could get dropped. I understand the folks who handle them in port for DCL cruises seem to treat them the worse. We have not had anything spill in our lockers, even in the ziplocks. For inventory we use the OL site's function. Make one needed items and list the items in the notes area. We keep small items in the tray. Some of the things we keep in it are tweezers, nail clippers and such. I do not remember how thick it is sorry.

When we come home and there is something we need more of or to replace - I update my inventory list on the OL site by changing the name of that item to "NEEDED _____". So that way, since it's sorted by alphabetical order (or can be sorted that way) - all the things we need are grouped together on the list, so we don't miss any.

AnalAnnie - I feel your pain. We were there in January and we have no more WDW trips planned right now - it might be late 2011 before we go back this time. Makes it a *bit* of a waste in some ways, but we went 5 times in the first 18 months we had it, so I guess it's a wash. We went to Rehoboth this summer and DH said - "man, I really wish we had our OL"! LOL.

Ahhh, Rehobeth...we did a quickie trip to Bethany earlier this summer...our neighbors have a place there... We just went to the HHI resort (drove) & I FELT like I was packing SOOO much!!! With the OL we're able to go to FL in just carry-ons!! We got 3 trips on ours in the first year. It really was refreshing to pack so little!

:)Do you guys leave any clothes, like PJs or undergarments, or socks to make it easier to pack? I have my box started to take on our first OL trip. I think I am goin gto try to pack it in a carryon instead of mail it. Our arrival date to Pop is 11/30-Tues after Thanksgiving, then on 12/01 we go to AKV. I was afraid to mail a box to the resort during the holidays. What do you guys think. Would you mail it and when?? TIA. :thumbsup2

I don't leave clothes for 2 reasons. First, our locker is too full.:rotfl: Second, I don't do laundry on vaca unless some emergency creates a need. I wouldn't want to bother washing up PJ's on our last morning so I could know I was leaving clean stuff. If we had an early flight I'd be stressed about getting the laundry done that morning. We leave flip flops & I have a pair of slippers...hats & visors. That's it for personal articles.

When we filled our locker I shipped a box via UPS. It weighed 45 Lbs!! I checked their est. delivery schedule online first. We were going on Fri. evening so I shipped it on Monday & it arrived on Wed. I had delivery tracking so I knew it was there 2 days b4 us. I knew it was an estimated 3 day delivery ahead of time but I wanted the extra wiggle room on the delivery date so I just sent it early and noted our arrival date on the outside of the box along with our ressie confirmation no.

Then once you get to the mouse and use your OL, be sure to meet John at the French section of EPCOT Tuesday evenings around 7ish. Really nice guy and really good conversation! :thumbsup2

I typed up an inventory on word. I separated items by category such as Kitchen/Laundry/Bathroom/Bedroom/Miscellaneous. I take a copy with us and make notes on items that are low or used up, then update the list when I return home.
