in March we may be taking my mother and aunt along with us to WDW. I am sure they would be able to enjoy themselves taking regular breaks to sit and rest.

Knowing what a meat market the parades can be (especially spectro) could i bring folding chairs (the type that fold up long and skinny and go in a bag) for them and put them in a locker until we need them? (when we stop and stake our claim on a viewing spot?)

Would we get in the front gate with them?

if so, are the lockers big enough for them?

If you're talking about camp chairs or something similar, you can probably bring them in, but you may be stopped. It will truly depend on the size and bulk of the chairs. Same with lockers -- they may or may not fit. If you explain why you need them, you'll likely be told that wheelchairs are available to rent or that you should simply stake out a bench or table early for your mom and aunt. But I've seen folks in the little camp chairs or beach chairs at Epcot.

First, the lockers arent big enough for chairs. Second, Im not even sure you allowed to do that. In the past 8 trips, I have NEVER seen ANYone in a folding chair. There are curbs, walls & benches to sit on. If you look around, you can find great spots where your Mother and Aunt can sit during the parade. Just get them there at least an hour early!

I noticed when we were there in May that they took all of the benches out of Town Square and around the hub in front of the castle.

I've never seen anyone with folding chairs along the parade route.

When we were watching the parade during MNSSHP on Main Street USA (MK) there were some rocking chairs on a porch, up near the Hall of Presidents. I'd imagine you'd have to claim them pretty early, but that was about the only seating I saw.

Somebody just asked a similar question on the disAbilities board and was told that folding chairs of any kind are not allowed. This even includes the canes that have seats built into them.

Here is a copy of what SyracuseWolverine posted on that other thread:

"In the past 2-3 weeks, everyone that works in my area (DAK Main Entrance) had to go to a meeting with some "refresher" material on what is and is not allowed into the parks. (both in terms of physical objects, writing on clothing, clothing styles, etc) During the meeting, we were reminded that folding chairs are not allowed. Someone specifically asked about the type of cane/seat combination, and we were told that they were NOT allowed. I don't know if people at other parks are having these meetings as well, but I would assume that they would, and that the policies will be enforced."

I was the one asking about the cane/seat thing. My father is going with us in December. He broke his hip a few years ago and could not possibly sit on the curb. I thought the cane/seat would be good for him. He doesn't want an ECV and would probably not need one. My only concerns are for Illuminations and Spectro.

That seems rediculous. I can't imagine the harm with a small camping stool with no back or a cane seat.

The rocking chairs over in Frontierland would be great for your father!! Just get there early . There are also wooden square platform things over there too. Get one of those to sit on. There are also benches along the parade route for spectro. There are benches up on the Train station too. Oh and the circle in front of the castle is a big round cement bench!! AS for Illuminations, over in the mexican counter service area are tables which also provide a great view of the show. Of course, you will need to get one there early as well. You could always get something to eat/drink there while you wait. As long as you are willing to get there early and wait, you can find something.

I think the reason they say no to chairs is because at some point you have to put a limit on what people can bring in. The crowds can get very large and there has to be some control and limit to the amount of outside items coming in. I would definetly stake out the "sitting" spots early as there are only a handful and they go very very early.
