A few questions about Annual Passes...

We will be new Annual Pass holders this year. My inlaws are buying them in July & we are buying them in December.

If I order them online, I know we would receive vouchers in the mail.
- Are the passes inactive until we "activate" them at WDW?
- Is there a time limit between when we order them & when we have them activated?
- Can we activate them at any park and DTD?

I'm aware of AP discounts for Disney resorts.
- How far in advance are the discounts published?
- Can I book a room and then apply the discount after it's been published?
- If my inlaws have 2 annual passes, does that mean they can book 2 rooms with the discounts?
- If I have my vouchers, but haven't activated the AP's - can I get the discount?

What other discounts are available to non-Florida resident AP holders?

Thank you for any information you can provide!

no

The general AP discounts come out around January 1 each year. The room discounts are announced throughout the year, sometimes only a short time before a season starts. For example, April 17 to July 4 was released on 3/9/05.

Yes, if there is availability for AP discounts for your resort and dates. Having a room already reserved does not give you an advantage when the discounts come out.

You can book up to 3 rooms with 1 annual pass

You can make a room reservation without buying the AP but you must have it at check-in. They will usually accept just the voucher at check-in but if they don't you will have to get it activated and return later.

Thank you very much, DebbieB!

Quick question, can you activate an AP at a Disney hotel or just the parks?

Thanks

Just at the parks and Downtown Disney.
And I'm not sure that I'd recommend DTD. That's where we activated ours while at our first stay at SSR, and it is a tiny little location with only 1 or 2 staffers. We were lucky that there was only one person ahead of us, but when we left, a line had formed behind us. Also, the CM didn't seem that up-to-speed on AP activation; she had to go in the back to get a Supervisor to assist; even then, DW ended up with a "Mickey" pass, and I got - yep, you guessed it - Minney. The CM was all worried that the gender swap would bother us, but we just laughed....
