A few questions about annual passes

I am considering buying an annual pass for our trip next year but I have a few questions.

1. If I buy it online beforehand - can I still access the AP section on Disneyland's webpage or do I need to wait for it to be activated?

2. Does the AP get activated when I first use at the park, or when I actually purchase it?

3. We plan to arrive on a Saturday and I will be purchasing the Deluxe AP. Can I actually enter the park on that day or is still considered a block out day?

Some people have been able to use the numbers of their voucher to get into the AP section; others have not. I have not. I don't know where those that can are buying their vouchers.

It starts when you use it at the parks.

Is the saturday you're arriving blocked out? (you can check blockout calendars even without being an AP holder...just go to the AP info section) Either way, if you first buy/activate an AP on a blockout day, as a courtesy they let you stay and hop. If it worries you, you could buy a regular ticket and upgrade from that later that day.

Actually, unless you're staying onsite, you might want to do that anyway, to take advantage of the Magic Morning on 3+ day hoppers. (if you're staying onsite you get MM each day it's offered during your stay, even if you have an AP, as long as, of course, you have valid admission those days)

If you buy the deluxe you will be allowed to enter on a blackout day if its the 1st day you activate and use it.

Look into buying the deluxe from southern California Costco's as it will include a $50 disney gift card which can be used for food and merchandise or to upgrade your deluxe towards a premium or just add parking. Current Costco AP's must be activated by Oct 2009.
