We are a party of 7 (4 adults, 3 kids) my parents are paying for us all to go and therefore DH and I assumed that we would be paying for meals. I was thinking of doing the regular ddp as my mom thought all the others were just too much food(I agree). Would we be better off paying out of pocket or doing the ddp? I cant go through a guess at what we may order to see the price difference.

Also is there anywhere that says exactly how much each plan is?
I mean I was fiddling around with prices and for the 7 of us the ddp would add an extra $2000(10 nights) In my head it was a good deal but my DH isnt so sure. So is it?

Do you have to get the ddp for each member of your party or can I leave my youngest son off?(he mostly shares with his brother or us)

TIA!

Counter service only plan is $29.99 a night for adults and $8.99 a night for kids 3-9.
Regular plan is $39.99 a night for adults and $10.99 a night for kids 3-9.
Deluxe is $71.99 a night for adults and $20.99 for kids 3-9.

Sorry - you can't leave people off the plan if you get it. Everyone on your reservation has to get the same plan for the full length of the stay.

My experience has been it's a good deal if you have kids in the 3-9 age range and are planning to do character meals. The cost of the plan for a child is $10.99. I think the least expensive character meal for children is the Crystal Palace breakfast which is $10.99. On top of the TS meal, you also get a CS meal and a snack. Most kids' meals at CS restaurants are around $4.99. Kid's meals at non-character restaurants seem to run around $7.50. Even if you did a non-character TS restaurant, one CS meal, and a snack, you are coming out ahead for the child's plan.

The adult plan isn't quite as good a deal, especially if you don't order dessert with every meal. But you can easily break even on the adult meals.

Everyone in the same room must be on the same plan. So if your youngest son is 3 or older, you must buy the plan for him if everyone else is getting it. If he is under 3, then he can share off someone else's plate and is free at buffet/family style meals.

I like the DDP because it's paid for ahead of time and I don't think about the cost of the meals while I'm there. Once DD turns 10, I'll probably stop getting the DDP and pay OOP. By that time, I figure we won't be doing as many character meals.

My youngest will be 3, my oldest will be 6 and my niece will be 12. Im just worried about my YDS not eating his moneys worth, I guess we could always get it wrapped up for him to eat later on.

Do they ask for ID when you eat at a ddp place? Like say my mom and dad wanted a dinner alone but dont have the credits on their cards, can they use my Dhs and mine if we're not going to use them? Im sure its a no no but if we're not going to use them....

Thanks for answering so quickly, I agree about the character dining, which we will be doing.

I have seen/heard many people sharing. Many people use one key until it's used to keep easier track. When I was at Ohana' I saw one key being handed over for two families.

They will have the credits on their cards. All dining credits are accessible from all cards assigned to the same reservation, even the children's cards.

However, if your parents have a separate reservation and are not on the dining plan, you are not supposed to use your dining plan to pay for their meals.
