I am still working on the full blown trip report, but thought I would post our Resort experiences:
We stayed at the FW Cabins from January 18th to the 26th
We arrived at FW around 10:30 am on Sunday to check in, not exepecting a cabin to be ready, and as such had planned a couple of offsite errands. Lo and behold, a cabin was available, but not in either of our requested loops. The CMs checking us in, said we had been assigned a *great* location, but if wanted a cabin now, they could place us elsewhere. We decided to wait. In hindsight, I am so glad we did.
Went to an offsite Walgreens and Publix, called FW around 1 and our cabin was ready. Okey Dokey, off we go!!!!!!!
We were assigned cabin 2502, and it was a perfect location, steps to the pool, the bus, and the laundry. And close to the entrance of FW as well, as we took WDW transportation to MK and EPCOT, but drove our rental everywhere else.
The cabin was SPOTLESS when we arrived, no dust, no mold, no cobwebs, nothing. Just clean and sparkly. Lots (and I mean LOTS of towels), fully stocked kitchen, the fridge had been turned down, so it was nice a cold when we got back with our groceries.
We got the Cabin through an AP discount. I had had PO-R booked and paid in full at rack rate, and when the AP rates finally hit, there was no availability at PO-R. CRO suggested the cabins, and since it was the same amount of money we had already paid, we went for it. We ate breakfast in every morning except for one (PS at Donald's at AK) and had cold cuts, snacks, burgers and dogs, water, juice and soda. I figure the money we saved by eating breakfast in, and a couple of lunches/dinners and the snacks and drinks we probably ended up saving money in the long run.
We had Mousekeeping only come in every other day, and could have gone every 3 or 4 days with no problems. Even when we put out the "No Service Required Today" magnet, they would leave us MORE TOWELS! And a few surprises too:
These were our first 'guests'
They also made us a place for our toothbrushes
We had such a great time at FW. You could literally vacation there and never leave the campsite, and still have a great time. DS had a great time going on Armadillo hunts. We don't have any Armadillo's here in Mass. There were peacocks all over the area, some white ones, and some colorful ones. The petting zoo is cute. They now have carriage rides, and the wagon rides have been there for a while. The nightly campfire/sing a long/movie is a lot of fun. Trail's End Buffet is a hidden jewel. Great food, nice prices, very relaxing.
Boat transportation to WL, CR, and MK is just so much fun. We did this too, when we were going to EPCOT. Boat to CR, CR to TTC on the monorail, monorail to EPCOT.
The Electric Water Pageant from the beach was fun too. We caught it only once, but DS and I really liked it. DH just
at us. (He is a *tad* Disney challenged, but we're working on it).
So, if there are any other questions I can answer, please let me know.
