We`ve managed to now decide on our dates to stay at a Universal Hotel.

Now to throw a spanner in the works are thinking about HRH instead of RPR
any pros / cons appreciated.

I have read that RPR are doing renovations and HRH have compled them.
Does anyone please know what renovations they are doing, is it the rooms, what might the chances be of getting a renovated one - has anyone stayed in one at RPR?

HRH is nearer to the parks and has a slide in the pool which DD will love, does anyone know what time the pool is open until in the evenings?

Anyone done the B & B package at the HRH, its only $20 more for 2 and we would have to pay for DD, whats the breakfast like? as good as or better than RPR?

nearly finished.... finally.... do the rates for the hotels tend to come down nearer to the time you want them (subject to them having any available?)
If we booked thru Lowes or Universal and they come down do you get the benefit or do you have to pay the price you have booked?

(Don`t think its worth applying for AA card as by the time we have purchased it the cost of the AAA rate plus joining would be similar to the rack rate.

All advice as always will be very gratefully appreciated.

Thanks.

I can help with some of your questions....

RPR was supposed to begin reno's the last week of June, they are doing the rooms, HRH's are completed.

I believe the slide at the HRH pool is open till 9, the pool a bit later because the movie starts at 9ish.

HRH IS closer to the parks...a pro there.

i've never eaten at either hotel, so can't help you there.

if rooms are available, they will drop the price.... there is a supersaver rate out right now, does it apply to your dates?? (you didn't indicate your dates of stay)

Thanks bubba`s mom,

We are only looking for 1 night, hopefully 16th Aug. so don`t think supersaver applies isn`t it for 4 + nights?

Decisions, decisions - we are staying at Cypress Pointe, just decided to do this as an after thought. But am so undecided about which hotel. Think the B & B rate would be good though then don`t have to worry about breakfast or rushing to beat the queues.

In August, it will most likely be crowded. You can stay onsite (at any rate it's worth it) and get your 2 days of FOTL ....OR...stay offsite, go EARLY in the day, and buy Express Passes to use (good 1 time each ride tho) You don't HAVE to purchase the EP before you go, you can wait till you are at the parks to see how the crowd level is.
