A few Beach Club questions

This will be our first stay at BC: me, DH, DD2, DD2. I have a standard view booked during May. I'm currently studying the room/floor layouts and also a map of the grounds. It would be helpful, though, to hear from people who have stayed there before and what your recommendations and opinions are. Here are some specific questions, but I welcome any and all additional comments:

> We need a room close to an elevator because of our 2 little ones. We'd also like to be fairly close to the restaurants, but wonder if it would be too noisy for our little ones. Any insight on that?

> I've been reading a lot on the standard views. Is our best bet to ask at check-in for a room on the "back" side of the resort (assuming the parking lot entrance area is the "front" side)?

> Are there any standard view rooms with a normal king bed? If not, what are the murphy beds like? We want as much room as possible because we will need to set up 2 cribs.

> At the Poly last November, we received real cribs. Any chance of this at BC? Or are they all pack'n plays?

Thanks in advance. :sunny:

We've stayed there several years starting with our son and now our daughter being little (she was only 3 months old last year). We were not extremely close to the elevators, but it didn't really seem to be a problem, the walk was cool, lighting shaded for the most part and it never seems very noisy on the floors with the rooms. As for the restaurants, we don't usually go to Beaches n Cream anymore because seating is terribly difficult and it's just way too crowded, that said, we go to Yachtsman's and Cape May several nights each trip and although it is a more relaxed atmosphere (i.e. noisy) at Cape May, we are usually much more comfortable there with babies/small children than at Yachtsman.

By all means, feel free to ask about a specific area of the resort, if you are going to go to Epcot quite often, you can ask about that end of the resort and use the elevators on that end and it's only a quick 5-8 minute walk in or out of the park. Likewise, if you go to MGM more often, it's closer nearer the center hub, same with the buses. We've often asked for specific ends of the resorts for those very reasons and they really try to accomodate.

Until our son got older, we always got a King bed so that we'd have more floor space. It just depends on what is available at time of check-in, but you can always request it with the reservation line and they will have it ready if available.

Sorry I can't help on this one. We've never used the cribs. Now that we get the 2 beds, I put her on the side nearest the nightstand and use the padded bench thing beside that. Between the nightstand and the bench, almost that entire side of the bed is safe for her to sleep on (except at the very end of the bed and that hasn't been an issue). I also worked with someone who turned the sofa/bed around so that it faced the wall and her 3-4 year old slept on that without fear of falling. I hope the cribs work out for you!

Hope that some of this helps.

The BC does have metal cribs just call houskeeping. I think they are the same as the Poly.

You may want to call for sure if the crib matters to you. We were there in January and were told metal cribs were discontinued and no longer available at ANY resort, only pack n' plays. We have a DS-2 who we needed one for. We used the pack n' play. In calling for our next reservation this June, CRO told me the same thing.

Thanks so far for the replies. Our girls normally do fine in a pack'n play, so we should be okay in that regard. However, we will still ask housekeeping for real cribs. I think we will lean towards asking for a room in the "back" of the resort (for a hopefully decent view!) and near the restaurants and pool. Keep the comments and advice coming! It's very helpful!

If being close to the main pool is important then make sure that you request that. Most of the rooms are not that close to the main pool area entrance, as it is pretty much in the middle of the BC/YC complex. So, I would ask for a room closer to the lobby for easier access to SAB pool. As for noise, the only problem I had was with our neighbors one night. They were not especially loud but for some reason I could hear every word they were saying! I know we had a connecting door in our room, so in the future I think I might ask for a room without a connecting door. But it was not a major issue, to me it was more important to be closer to the pool/lobby. There did not seem to be a lot of noise from the lobby and most of the eating areas except for Cape May are not really "in" the BC near rooms. Beaches and Cream is accessed from outside by the pool so I can't see any rooms being effected by noise from there. (I'm not sure if there are rooms directly above there, but they would be water view.)
