A Dumb Question About Pre-Printing Boarding Passes

What is the advantage to pre-printing boarding passes? I had our boarding passes all printed for our trip in November, but when we checked our baggage, they printed boarding passes for us.

Since we'll have luggage to check in July, too, I'm wondering why I should bother with doing boarding passes at home. Am I missing something here? Could someone please explain what it is?

Thanks!

You hit the nail on the head. There really is not much of an advantage to printing them IF you have baggage to check. The skycaps/attendants will print them for you as they check your bags/ID.

If, however, you don't have any bags to check then pre-printing boarding passes is GREAT! You just head to the security check point and then to your gate!

I don't bother printing them because I always have luggage to check.

Oh yes, I always forget about that because I never fly SW. That is certainly a beneft then to printing the boarding pass at home.

Sometimes Delta provides extra Skymiles for printing your boarding passes at home or through their kiosks. That's why I preprint mine, even when I have baggage to check.

Also if you want to change your seat the earlier you check in the better the seat selection. Some airlines don't assign seats until the 24 hour mark so you can get a good seat instead of getting what is left at the airport. Also airlines give ff miles for checking in online.
