I posted a little while back about the K1000. I wound up not getting anything due to lack of time to really learn how to use it.

Instead, my amazing (and trusting) boyfriend let me borrow his Nikon D70 with 2 lenses for my trip to St. Martin. I had a blast with the camera which was my first experience using anything other than a PAS. I can't wait to have my own.

I figured you guys would want to see some (I think) pretty good shots that I was somehow able to capture. It gives novices out there some hope that it really is the camera and not the user :goodvibes

Oooohhhh that looks soo nice. Especially when I am sitting here listening to the weather guy on TV talk about the "arctic blast" that will be here by the end of the week.

i love the surf crashing one! nice color and interesting forground...nice job but i think you might "need " to get that dslr now so bf can have his camera back.

btw jen, i thought the same think since our forecast for today is 6-12+ inches of more snow:sad:

Yea, the dslr is almost definitely on hold though. I'm a grad student with no time to really learn the camera and go out and have fun with it. I might as well wait until graduation (May '08) because technology and prices will certainly change by then. I'm just being smart- I guess I have to keep the BF around :rotfl:

ETA: It has snowed EVERY day here for the past 10 days or so- thankfully there are less than 2 inches of snow on the ground. Cold and snowy living in a valley.

Very nice. Thanks for the boost of confidence (I am a novice too). I especially like the surf and sand photo. Like Jann, I like the interesting markings in the sandy foreground. Thanks for sharing!

The low-light ones like the sunset ones are where the DSLR will give you an immediate improvement over a PnS... bright sunny shots like the waves crashing will still generally turn out pretty good on a PnS (assuming that the shutter lag lets you capture the shot when you want to.)

Good luck with your quest to move to the DSLR world, and you're right, they'll only be better in another year and a half! (Though I doubt that prices will get much cheaper than what Pentax is selling them for now, but the competition might get cheaper.) There's no going back once you get one...

I love the first and last ones. Very nice.

Very nice shots. I like the surf and sand pic as well. Got any more. I love St Maarten/St Martin. Went there a few times when I working in travel.

What beautiful shots! I just got my first DSLR - and it gives me hope that I'll be able to take some good pics :)

Really nice shots:thumbsup2 Sailboat sunset is my fav. Ahh St Martin is sooo beautiful and warm. Now that you know you'll like shooting (and you're good) with a DSLR it may be harder to wait. Nice BF for sharing. Me thinks he's a keeper:cutie:
