Hi Shelly! I was way behind with the holidays but have found a nice chunk of DIS time this week so I'm all caught up!

Sounds like you were having an amazing time & taking full advantage of the amenities at the Poly! I showed DH the pictures & he asked if we'd ever be staying there.

Yep, we sure did enjoy every single thing the Poly had to offer!

The "Big" Announcement was not so big after all I thought it might include a free day but I also thought it would be for longer than 2 weeks. I did the math and my 30% is better by $201. I guess bookings must be down for those two weeks, no crowds will be fine with me.

Next it was back to future world for one more flight on Soarin before we headed back to the Poly for the night. We thought about staying for IllumiNations since the rain had finally stopped, but we decided that since we had seen IllumiNations so many times on the last trip (having stayed at BWI) that we would rather spend our evening at the Poly. (And in dry shoes!!)

We went out and had just missed the monorail. We waited just a short time for another one and we were back to the Poly in no time!

We went to the lounge and got some snacks and the boys wanted to play their video games & read their new books in the room so we took them back there and DH & I went back to the lounge and stayed to watch the Electric Water Pageant.

DH and I enjoyed our time in the lounge and it ended up to be a very nice evening!

I am falling in love with the Poly! How great was it to have a view like that from the lounge, have a pool view from your room and snacks too!!! I bet you were feeling a bit spoiled!

Wise choice to go back and relax and enjoy that resort more! That's what DH would do!!

For the drinks choices - was there a big selection of beer/wine?

You would absolutely love it there!! Yes, I was feeling very spoiled!

I'm so glad we decided to go back the resort that night. We only had 4 nights at the Poly, so we wanted to take full advantage of our time there!

I think there were about 3-4 beer choices, not sure about the wine. Probably at least that many.

We always seem to see IlluminNations more since we love WS and end up spending more time there in the evenings but a night relaxing at the resort is always good. I loved the Poly at night when we went to the Aloha Dinner Show, the lights the music, I just wish DH had fallen in love with it too like me.
Staying CL is perfect for the evening and watching EWP and Wishes

I'm loving reading about the Poly. It looks wonderful! We were booked to stay there once and ended up canceling our trip - what a mistake! I wasn't sure if I wanted to try it again, but your posts are so convincing!

I love that you're showing another side of Disney, how relaxing it can be. Love this TR!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Shelly - Yes, I saw One Republic perform there - three weeks ago - it was taped for the NYE special. I was on the TL side of the hub near the castle in the middle of the screaming girls. LOL.

We did have a blast a NYE at DL. 19 hours! Got there at 8 a.m. Long lines and lots of people everywhere. I counted one women's bathroom line that had over 75 ladies waiting. Even some men's bathroom had lines. The secret bathrooms had no lines!

As for Disney's 24 hour, leap day announcement - I hope they have special entertainment or fireworks - not a lot of info when they made the announcement. We will have to see what they do.

Yeah, we were all just feeling kind of damp and yucky. An evening at the resort was a much better choice.

I think there is so much more to Disney than a lot of people realize, especially if you take the time to stop and smell the roses.

Club level definitely spoils you! My DH said he'd never go back. In August we couldn't get CL at the poly b/c there weren't any rooms left for the discount. What a bummer.
The CL at BC and GF were phenomenal.

Shelly, I thought I'd let you know that I bit the bullet and booked the Disney cruise yesterday. I booked it on a whim after playing around on the site for quite a while. Every time I tried to price out the cheapest room, it would let me get all the way to the credit card information and I'd get an error message. I didn't give up though and when it came up available, I booked it. We had to shorten the WDW portion of the trip though and I'm a little worried about that.
