A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

Are you missing me yet???

:rotfl2:

Can I just say that this has been one of those Christmases that never ends and it hasn't gotten any better yet?? :headache:

Oh well... life continues.

I'm sorry I've missed so much here--- your updates are wonderful.

Loved the Christmas pics- I'm so glad that the boys had a great time. Including your excessively hairy son. Those are adorable pics--- you should frame the one of Jack in the paper.

Great update from Epcot too!! I hate WDW in the rain-- I know people say just put your poncho on and deal with it-- but I'm such a brat that I think it should never ever ever rain on my parade. :rolleyes1
It's ok I guess if it's just sprinkling- but the downpours-- uh-uh. Miserable. And then you're wet and feel gross.

The pic of DS10 on Soarin is so precious-- loved it. What a smile.:cloud9:

I hope all is well with you---
Happy New Year to you if I don't get back on here before then!!

Of course we miss you!!

Sorry things aren't going as planned on your Christmas vacation. You'll be home soon! :)

My excessively hairy son!! :rotfl2: Do you mean Jack or DS12??? :rotfl:

Yeah, put your ponchos on and go. Right. That was the plan. And that's what we did, I guess. But it sure was gross. :scared:

Happy New Year to you too! :cool1:

Love the Soarin' pics ! Although the person in the background that is leaning over the front really weirds me out. :scared1: I'm too scared to MOVE on that ride .. never mind lean over.

Yeah rain really stinks .. we had a week of it when we went there one October and it was miserable. :sad2: I'm sort of thinking it could go either way for our April trip .. hopefully we'll have a DRY week. :goodvibes

Thanks! :goodvibes I noticed that guy in the pic too...I wonder what he was doing?

I hope you have a dry week in April too! :wizard: All in all we could have had much more rain than we did on this trip. It was calling for storms all day everyday and we didn't get near that much rain!

Anyone have any big plans for NYE??? I guess we don't really. Probably just some shopping and out to dinner, just like any other Saturday night. :rotfl:

----

After our flight on Soarin we were getting hungry and headed to Mexico for dinner. We didn't have any ADR's and wanted to try the new CS restaurant in Mexico – La Cantina de San Angel.

On the way we spotted Duffy. DS12 wanted a pic with him!

The rain unfortunately had not stopped. It was a pretty miserable walk and our feet were soaked. La Cantina wasn't too busy when we got there so we got to order right away. The food was just okay and the whole experience was pretty unpleasant – eating outside with our wet ponchos on.

Sorry, that's all I have for pictures. :confused3 DH and I got the Beef Nachos to share. The kids got Chicken Tenders & tortillas to share. And we got some Churros with caramel sauce. You don't get too many churros and the caramel sauce was runny. The total price was around $26. I'm not really sure how to rate it. None of us cared for it, but I'm guessing that was mostly because of the circumstances. Maybe we'll try it again sometime on a nicer day.

After we ate we headed on into World Showcase.

Stopped into Stave Church for Jodi. (Who was due to arrive at WDW that night and I was texting her telling her to bring her ponchos & umbrellas!!)

The rain was coming and going now. It had lightened up some at least.

Nothing like some treats from the caramel shop in Germany to brighten up a crappy evening!

Then back to Japan to look at more Pokemon stuff of course.

Up Next: More Epcot and back to the Polynesian

Oh wow, yummy food pics Shelly! I could almost eat my computer screen!

My wife loves the Germany pavilion, that candy looks so good.

We are going to Disneyland for NYE. First time ever. Heard that DL has been at capacity several times this week already. That means around 52,000 people in the park. We are going in at 8 a.m., opening just to make sure we can get back in. Staying at the HoJo. Happy about that. Meeting up with Katiebelle for breakfast at River Belle Terrace - that should be fun, they have been there for the past 3 days. You can follow me on twitter @TommyPix to see if we survive and still have our sanity!

Hey Sea!

Wow you are a brave sole!! :cool1:  Have fun and tell Katiebelle I said hello!

Great update shelly!
Nice Christmas pics! Love the pic of ds10 on soarin.
We've only seen the Canada movie and I'm sure it's only because the boys thought they'd see some hockey in it. They were right. We'll have to see the France
One this time :)
Happy new year!

Ok, I am really excited because I think I just learned something new about WS! Yes, that makes me a WS nerd... Can you go into that Viking building??? I never thought you could but I didn't recognize that picture. Is that the church you were talking about? I must know! I can't believe there is an inch of WS that I don't know about!

The caramel shop can definitely brighten a day up. That chocolate covered strawberry is calling for me right now! YUM!

Sorry to hear your food at La Cantina wasn't great. We ate at the one that used to be there once and it was just ok too. We have MUCH better Mexican food here at home. I'd put our local place up against any swanky Mexican place on the planet. But I bet you are right... sitting in wet ponchos doesn't make for good dining ambiance. :(

Somehow I have missed the Caramel shop everytime I've gone to Epcot. :confused3 So everytime I see pictures in a trip report I drool all over myself. DF is wondering why I'm drooling on my laptop. Yummmmm

Thanks! :)

I had just read an article about the France film in my Celebrations magazine before we went on vacation, so I guess that's why I picked that one. I'll have to do my research and decide which one I am going to drag the family to next time. :rotfl:

Well WS nerd (:rotfl2:) - yes, you can go in that Viking building!! Don't feel bad, I didn't know that either on my first 6 trips. :upsidedow It was Jodi who brought it to my attention. She always says how she loves stopping into Stave Church in WS and one day it dawned on me that I didn't even know what she was talking about. So, I finally got to the bottom of that mystery. :rotfl:

A chocolate (and caramel) covered strawberry is exactly what I got in the caramel shop that evening! :goodvibes

Yeah, we sure weren't impressed with the Mexican food at La Cantina. :confused3 We still have yet to find a CS restaurant in Epcot that we love....Which is kind of ridiculous considering the amount of choices there. :upsidedow

It really hasn't been there that long. Maybe less than 2 years....But next time you better put it at the top of your list!! :thumbsup2 It is so good! Very pricey of course, but so good. :cloud9:

Thanks! :)

I'll have to find my Celebrations magazine and look for it- guess I missed that :) thanks! I'm getting so excited about our trip now that it's just about 2012. Only 3 1/2 months left :woohoo:

It must have been in a spring or summer 2011 issue.

3 1/2 months!! :cool1: That's so exciting!!!!!!!

:cool1:party: HAPPY NEW YEAR!! party::cool1:

I hope everyone had a safe and fun evening last night and has a healthy & happy new year!!!!!!! (Oh - and with a Disney trip in it! :thumbsup2)

So what did everyone think about the Disney announcements last night? popcorn::

Sea - I looked for you guys when I watched One Republic sing at Disneyland, but I couldn't find you in the crowd. Were you there?:yay:

Happy New Year to you too !!

I guess the announcement is great for people who live close by or happen to be there that day .. but really doesn't affect me and my family. :confused3
So .. in all I'm not overly impressed.

BUT I DO have a Disney trip coming ... so I won't complain !!

I agree. I was sorta like...big whoop. Doesn't really mean much to people who can't get there for that day. Who comes up with these ideas anyway? I was sort of hoping for something like extended park hours(beyond EMH) Ah well.

Happy New Year to you as well!

Yeah, I was kinda hoping for something special for all year, not just that one day....but thats okay. Still can't wait for our trip!

Happy New Year to you too!
It was just another Saturday night here at my house. We don't really do anything special. We were gonna have a New Year's party this year but my DH turned 40 so his party is next Sat. night so we didn't want 2 parties in a row.
As for the so called "big announcement", my DH said "They need better people in there marketing dept. who comes up with this stuff?"
Not really a big announcement. who cares about being open 24 hrs.
How about giving the buy 3days get 3 days. Didn't they use to do something like that?
Well off to DS10's hockey game and dinner at grandparents- yum! :)

So the "big announcement" is just one 24 hour day? SO WHAT? That's not a campaign for the year, that's just dumb.
I was hoping for an extra day for everyone - like buy a 3 day park ticket or package and get the 4th free. I especially wanted a ticket deal (since we have DVC we don't do the packages).

Anyway - Soarin - LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! So jealous that you could get Fps twice in one day! Sorry you got all wet though. I've never been in Stave Church either, although I have heard of it.
Saw the French movie EONs ago - want to go back. I like the Canada one - it's cute, but it is a 360 standing movie. So is China, but the scenes with the Great Wall are really awesome. It's been a while since we've seen any other than Canada. Not sure the kids remember ever seeing France or China's movies. Good things to do in the rain, or when you need to cool off though!

Ah, the Caramel shop! Excuse me, let me wipe off my keyboard. Little bit of drool there.

Cute pics of Christmas! Love that one of Jack in the wrapping paper. My kids still enjoy a good box now, but it has to be big - I got some Pampered Chef stuff delivered the week before Christmas and I had a huge box - they turned it into a space ship or something. Made me question all the money I had spent on gifts...

Yeah, I wasn't really impressed with the big announcement either. On top of the 24hrs on Leap Day, they are offering 'one more day' free to a 3 night package too, but it's only for a very short time span like Feb 26 to March 10, I think. http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....tionCode=fy12onemoreday&market=fy12onemoreday I was thinking it was going to be for half the year or something, not only a few weeks. Oh well, maybe something better will come along!! :wizard:

It sure was awesome being able to get fastpasses 2X in a row for Soarin! :cloud9:

We need to make it a point to try to see a film or two each trip. You are right -- they are a good thing to do in the heat and/or rain. ::yes::

I suppose my kids would still enjoy a huge box too!! :upsidedow

Hi Shelly! I was way behind with the holidays but have found a nice chunk of DIS time this week so I'm all caught up! :goodvibes

Sounds like you were having an amazing time & taking full advantage of the amenities at the Poly! :thumbsup2 I showed DH the pictures & he asked if we'd ever be staying there. ;)

Happy New Year Shelly!

The "Big" Announcement was not so big after all :rotfl: I thought it might include a free day but I also thought it would be for longer than 2 weeks. I did the math and my 30% is better by $201. I guess bookings must be down for those two weeks, no crowds will be fine with me.

9 weeks from today I will be at BWI
