A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

I couldn't remember what the % off deluxe resorts was. Since Hunter is considered an adult, the free dining would save us more than the Spring offer I am currently booked with. I am going to try calling and see if they will let me apply the free dining code(s). I'd love to save the extra almost $300.00.

Both my kids are considered adults now, but neither of them eat like adults. So the DDP is just not worth it for us. We can eat way cheaper paying OOP.

Good luck calling!! :wizard: Let me know what happens.

WOW Shelly!! That song was so perfect it just went along with the pics so well!!
I was at a scrapbooking workshop all weekend- I thought my album came out good, but that video is AWESOME!! I would  to make a video like that with all my pics. Does it take a long time? How can I learn how to do that?
Great job!:thumbsup2
Thanks for sharing all your family's magical memories.

Shelly, Great job on the video! Youir DS picked out a really good song for it :thumbsup2

Thank you!! :goodvibes

Do you have Windows Movie Maker on your computer? It's on my laptop in my Windows Photo Gallery. You just kind of have to go on it and mess around to figure it out. There are probably instructions out there somewhere on how to use it, YouTube maybe. It took me probably about 4-5 hours to make it. I started on a Friday night and finished it up on a Saturday morning.

Thanks Sheila! :cool1: DS loves that song!!

Thanks I'll look into it. It's true about having things on your computer you didn't even know you have .

I love your video!! I think it's my favorite you've made so far. Just really neat and such a great way to remember the fun vacation!:goodvibes

I just looked--- I know we have the same laptop and I never pulled up the Windows Photo gallery before. I somehow always bypass that and go right to My Pictures--
anyway--- much to my surprise I found all of MC's pics from her camera from the trip as well as the Movie Maker!

:rolleyes1

Who Knew???:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing the video!:thumbsup2

Great video Shelly!!

Did you know you were going to use that song before you went? It seems like some of the pictures and video were designed to go with it!

Have you ever seen those videos that one family does? They sing and dance around the parks and it's just awesome! very inspiring!

Wonderful video Shelly! Your DS 12 is quite the ham isn't he? ;) I really enoyed it! I may be PMing you for help once I get going with mine! :rolleyes1

I've been quite busy this week so I missed a couple of updates. One of the thing keeping me busy was my 20 weeks ultrasound. :cloud9: Hop on over to my TR if you want to find out if we're expecting a boy or a girl... :rolleyes1

I'm definitely a Spectro girl all the way. I like the floats a bit more, and I canNOT stand MSEP music. Way too annoying.

Wow, that was a lot of ducks! I counted about 12 in the pool, then another 12 just under your balcony! Cute!

It's nice that you got to see Jodi's family again. But so sad that you had to leave Disney.

Love the video! Random thought, but the song is the one my students sang a year ago at the Christmas concert. I even choreographed a little dance for them. :dance3:

Thanks!! :cool1: Hmm....what do you think it was that made it my best video yet??? Could it be the extra peeps in it?!! :thumbsup2

You've never used your Windows Photo Gallery before? :scared1: Where do your pics go then when you load them? Did MC takes lots of pics? :yay:

Well now you have to make a video since you found your movie maker!! :goodvibes

I love your video! The music is just perfect. You did a great job with it!:goodvibes

Thanks Lauren! :)

Yep, we knew we were going to use that song ahead of time!! :yay:

I have seen a couple of videos from that family, I can't remember their name right now but I know who you are talking about. They make very good vacation videos! ::yes::

Oh the suspense!!! I will be right over! :yay:

There were A LOT of ducks that morning. :faint: The CM's kept chasing them out of the pool, but they would come right back. :rotfl:

Glad you enjoyed the video. :cool1: I bet your students performance was very cool!

Shelly!

Despite it being the last day, you got some great pictures of the your families! I liked the one of them tossing coins at the fountain. Did they all make the same wish?

Your video was SUPER AWESOME! You did a great job editing it and syncing the pictures with the song. It came out fabulous!

Thank you for sharing that!

Thanks Sea! :goodvibes Yeah, I'm pretty sure all the kids wished to do it all over again! :wizard:

Glad you enjoyed the video! It's nothing like your work, but I'm getting there!! :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone. :goodvibes I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed another unseasonably warm one. :cloud9: I could get used to this! But unfortunately I'm pretty sure we are going to have to pay for this snowless winter pretty soon. :scared1:

Okay, I'm off to finish writing my Final Thoughts and get this TR wrapped up! :)

Final thoughts...... Where do I begin?

If you read my 'Final Thoughts' in my November 2010 trip report (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39900093&postcount=1062) you know that I always tell it just like it is and do not sugar-coat anything. So when I sit here and tell you just how wonderful this trip was – I really mean it! :cloud9:

So I guess I will start it out with the same question as I did last year – Was this our best vacation ever? But the answer is quite different this time – YES!!! :cool1: Was it absolutely perfect? Well of course not, but it was dang close!!

The weather was fabulous for the most part. Having to fret about a possible hurricane the days before we left for vacation was not fun, but we ended up being pretty lucky! We did get our fair share if rain, but it could have been much worse. And somehow the rain is much easier to take when it is so very warm out! And speaking of it being warm – that is was. :faint: But it wasn't anything terrible like I had it in my mind that it was going to be. Yes, it was HOT most days. Very hot. But the mornings were very pleasant and so were the evenings. And it's not like it was our first trip and we had to do and see everything. So we were able to take it at our own pace and I don't think anyone really even complained about the heat. And here I was expecting the worse from the boys (all 3 of them!), I figured there would be whining all day everyday about the heat! So I went into this thinking it just might be the most boring trip ever with the heat holding us back from everything we wanted to do, but that wasn't the case at all! The rain kind of put a damper on our one evening at Epcot and gave us a later start to DTD one other day, but that was it. So all in all I was very happy with the weather. ::yes::

The crowds – or lack thereof I should say – were awesome!! :woohoo: This was seriously the least crowded I have ever seen WDW. And we have even been in January! So we were thrilled with the short lines, and even sometimes no lines! A definite plus to going this time of year. Which brings me to the parks. Of course they were all great because of the lack of people in them!! MK is of course all torn up, which is less than magical, but hopefully it will all pay off in the end and it will be bigger & better than ever! Epcot was great, considering when we went in 2010 the F&WF was going on and it was super crowded and filled with lots of peeps who had too much to drink. :scared: So we enjoyed Epcot back to it's normal state very much! :thumbsup2 Well, except when we got poured on that one evening!! :scared1: We enjoyed 2 wonderful trips to DHS and got to do just about everything we wanted to there. DS12 & I had a very fun morning at AK and got to do all that we wanted to there and more. And of course we all enjoyed 3 fun trips to DTD!! So we had lots of fun at the parks and encountered lots of happy & friendly CM's!

Both resorts we stayed at were wonderful. We already knew we loved CBR, so no surprise there. I went into this wondering if the Poly was 'all that', like everyone says it is....Well, IT IS all that and more!! :lovestruc We enjoyed every single second of our time there and consider ourselves very lucky to have stayed there. Staying CL was an extra little treat for us as well. And while we did enjoy the conveniences of it, we weren't overly impressed with the lounge offerings and didn't think it justified the cost. But the snacks were nice & convenient to have and it was nice to know what building we would be in before we got there. And staying in the Hawaii building is great! Excellent location. Speaking of excellent locations – we loved staying so close to MK!! It was awesome to be able to see MK while you are swimming! And to just be a short monorail ride away is great. We loved the atmosphere and the way everyone greeted us with “Aloha”, and all (except for that one snobby front desk CL CM) the CM's were super friendly, mousekeeping was the best I've ever seen, the pools were fantastic, and the food & shopping were great too. So like I said, we loved everything about the Poly. And yes, we do have a new favorite resort!!!!! ::yes:: And to answer the million dollar question – yes it will now be hard to go back to a moderate.

Transportation was great at both resorts. We had that one long wait at DHS for a bus back to CBR and we had the incident on the monorail when the door wouldn't open at the Poly for several minutes, but other than that everything went smoothly and I have no complaints.

Let's see, what else.....

Dining! We had lots of good meals and lots of great snacks. The meals we really enjoyed: Crystal Palace, Pollo Capmero, Ohana, Kona, CBR food court, Chef Mickey's, Casey's....This time we thought Sci-Fri was just okay, it usually tops our list. Cosmic Ray's was okay too. The meals we could have done without: La Cantina, Via Napoli, Starring Rolls, & Earl of Sandwich. We had very yummy snacks from the caramel shop in Germany, Dole Whips at the Poly, and many other places! :mickeybar

In 2010 we went without the DDP and we really enjoyed the freedom! But since we did a split stay this time we did the DDP (free dining) for the CBR half of the trip and we went without the DDP during the Poly portion of the trip (since we were on a 'room only' discount). For us, when staying moderate it is cheaper to take free dining over a room only discount. But when staying deluxe it is better to take the room discount. So we can go either way, but we really do prefer not having the DDP.

The kids were very well behaved on this trip and it was so freeing to go in the summer and not have to worry about make-up work from school! They are to the age now where we can leave them in the room for a short time and enjoy a nice walk or a quiet dinner at the resort. They enjoy this time as much as us!! And they even humored me by getting plenty of character pics this trip!

So overall I would have to say this was our best trip yet! And I would highly recommend going this time of year!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Looking forward to a 2012 trip.....

As you already know I have our 2012 trip booked – April 28 – May 6 at the Beach Club. (with a 30% off room only discount) I had our ADR's booked months ago when I first thought the trip might be a possibility. But then it looked as if the trip wasn't going to happen, but I held onto the ADR's anyway. So then later when I was able to book, the ADR's were already set. So there hasn't been a lot of planning going on for this trip. Since we were there late last summer & I bought a lot of clothes for that trip and it will likely be pretty warm in May, I don't really have a ton of shopping to do for the trip. But of course that is subject to change the closer we get!! :rotfl:

We have talked about moving the trip to the end of August... We are pretty bummed that Test Track and BTMRR will be closed in May. But I think TT will still be closed in August...although BTMRR would be open...So IDK. We'll see. Right now DS is doing fantastic in Middle School, but we just started the second semester and his teachers have made it very clear that things are going to ge harder from here. So if things start to get harder for him that would be another reason to postpone until August. Just being able to go without having to deal with school & make-up work in pretty inviting!! So, we'll see what happens....

We are planning a little side trip this time. Something we've never done before! We've never ventured off WDW property. So this will be very new to us! We are renting a car for one day of our trip, and if you want all the details you will have to read the PTR!! (Although I think you've probably figured out most of it by now!:upsidedow)

I have no airfare for the trip yet, so that is scary. It is terribly high (compared to what I usually pay) right now, so I am waiting it out......:wizard:

So I guess that's about it! I hope you have all enjoyed the TR, I have sure enjoyed sharing the journey with all of you!

See ya real soon
