A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

Those are wonderful pictures Shelly! They came out very nice!

I liked how you put it the guys - let them know who is in charge. :lmao:

Momma gets what momma wants! :rotfl:

Sea :cool1:

Thanks Sea! :goodvibes

Yep, momma did get what momma wanted that day. ::yes:: :lmao:

Your Poly photo shoot pictures came out wonderful!:goodvibes You got some great shots.
What a nice night it looks like you all had! My DD20 is already talking about her wedding- she definitely wants it to be at WDW. Can't say I wouldn't like that!:rotfl:

Thanks Lauren! :)

That is my dream -- for the boys to meet a nice girl who loves WDW and they get married there. :lovestruc And I get to do all the planning of course. :rotfl:

Golly Shel,...your Trip will be here before you know it!! Do your boys do baseball? I know they like soccer, but jsut curious if they are doing a spring sport to pass the time for Disney?! LOL

Is Jo gonna do a TR now that you are nearing the end of your half?

Getting married not only in Disney, but at the Poly. What a dream that would be. :cloud9: Ron and I have made it clear that should we win the jackpot at the lottery, we are renewing our vows in Disney.

It's nice that you got to go back to the MK and get a little more park time.

Great pics Shelly!
I think you did a fine job with your timer!! My favorites are you and DH on the hammock and on the bench, the boys facing the waterfall and the boys in the hammock by themselves.

I try to get to MK the last night before we leave - I like having the vision of Wishes in my mind before heading home!

I was at a party this weekend at a friend's house. I helped her plan and book her upcoming WDW trip for the week before Easter (). But another family there is planning to go then too and hadn't booked anything yet!! I strongly encouraged them to book soon - especially since they were considering the Poly! Plus they have kids who love Lilo and Stitch, so I told them to go to Ohana for breakfast with them. And to book it right away! I nearly passed out when they said they hadn't booked anything yet! That's two months away!

So I told you I had been keeping up, just not posting much. Well, I guess I hadn't been doing such a good job of keeping up. :guilty: Today I've been seeing where everyone is saying how great your photo shoot pics are, and I'm like "What pics?" :confused3 So I go back a page or two to see what I missed. And I missed a lot!

So I agree with everyone that you did a great job! I assume you had the timer set for the family pic on the balcony, but did you also do that with the family pic outside on the sidewalk? Or did you ask someone to take it for you? OK, never mind all that. I just saw the answers to those questions.

My favoritest favorite ;) is the close-up one of you and your DH on the bench. That should already be framed in your house - if not, get with it, girl! My second favorites are the pics of each DS in the hammocks. So cute! They really did cooperate! And I'm not buying that they didn't want to do the photo session 'cause they look like they're really enjoying it.

I know!! :upsidedow Nope, no baseball here. They both did one season and thought it was the most boring thing ever! But DS10 will have spring soccer. Actually he will have to miss 2 games for Disney. :scared1:

IDK about Jo and her TR, you'll have to take that up with her!! :rotfl:
This would be the ideal time for her to start one though, wouldn't it....:rolleyes1

We say the same thing!! I did look into the vow renewal briefly when we went to WDW in 2008 for our 10th anniversary. It was a bit pricey.

I was very happy to go back to MK that evening!!:cool1:

Boo for the last night! :headache:

But spending it watcing MSEP at MK is the way to do it! :thumbsup2

I know, the end of a WDW trip is the worst. :headache: But yes, spending it with DS at MK was a great way to end it!:goodvibes

Thank you Sheree! :)

Yes we had nice visions of MK and the parade in our heads as we went home!

Doesn't that drive you nuts when you hear people talking about going to WDW and they don't have a clue what they are doing??? :scared1:

Well I'm glad you are all caught up again! :goodvibes You only missed a few posts, didn't you?

Glad you liked the photo-shoot! :) Yep, I used the timer for all the family shots except for one in the lobby. The boys did really well as long as they didn't have to be too close to each other.

Good morning! Well I see after 2 days of acting normal the DIS is back at it and super slow again this morning. :sad2: It has taken me about 15 minutes just to get to here....But I'll give it a try posting an update. My car is in the shop so I am stuck here with no wheels, so I don't have anything else to do I guess! :upsidedow

If the DIS doesn't speed up a bit I might be forced to go clean something. :scared1:

So who's up for a little MSEP? :cool1:

Once DS10 and I got inside MK we walked over to Main Street and decided we had better just grab our snacks now before finding a seat. So we walked back towards the entrance to the popcorn cart and got some popcorn and then headed back to find some seats.

We spotted some great seats right at the very beginning of Main Street. It wasn't too crowded there just yet. But of course as the evening went on it got more and more crowded. We had about an hour to wait so we just messed around and took in all the sites!

Just before the parade was starting a CM came by and made us all move back. We were still in the front row, but just had to push back some. The lady beside me started complaining up a storm to the CM about how ridiculous this was and that if they wanted us back they should have told us sooner. I suppose she was right, it did make for a very crowded/tight fit now since we had to push into everyone behind us, but I couldn't believe how she was going on and on. And then more and more people kept crowding in there. One lady crossed Main Street and jumped in behind us (and in front of other people that were behind us) and left her DH & baby (and stroller) across the street in a crowd of people. She then proceeded to yell at her DH across the street to get over here with her. And he was very hesitant to come over. He could see what she had done. And he was saying back to her that there wasn't room for him and the stroller and all. She wasn't having any part of what he was saying and she just kept yelling and insisting that he needed to get over here right now before the parade started. This went on for a little while and then he finally gave in and crossed the street and looked and me and said – I'm very sorry, can I squeeze in behind you?

Good grief!! :faint: It wasn't that much of a bother to us, we still had our front row seats, but it did of course make it even more cramped. I just don't understand people. You just can't walk up 5 minutes before such a popular event like that and expect to be able to have a great spot.

But whatever!! The parade was starting and DS and I were happy! The people behind us could fight it out all they wanted.

That was our first time seeing MSEP and we really enjoyed it!! I think I might even like the floats better than Spectromagic. But I do like Spectro's music more. So either one is fine with me! :goodvibes

How about you – Spectro or MSEP???

As soon as it was over DS and I stood up quickly to try to make a quick escape, and wouldn't you know it – I dropped my camera right onto the pavement. I picked it up and noticed that the on/off button was messed up. I messed with it the whole way out of the park and up the monorail platform. I did get it to work, but it has never really been quite right since. The button sat down in some anyway, it was never flush with the top of the camera, I suppose so it wouldn't get bumped on when in a purse or bag. But now it is down even further. It works fine, you just have to have a tiny finger or a long fingernail to get down in there to turn it on.

On a side note – DH got me a new camera for Christmas and the kids have inherited the old one!

dbdbd446.jpg

We caught the first monorail and were back to the Poly in no time. BUT – when we got there the doors didn't open on the monorail. We must have sat there for about 7-8 minutes I would guess. And DS had to use the restroom. :scared1: They were saying they couldn't open the doors because of something about clearance of another monorail. :confused3 Didn't really understand and we just wanted off that thing!!

Finally we got off and made a mad dash for the restroom! After that was all taken care of we called DH & DS12 too see if they wanted to come down and meet us for Dole Whips. But they had already had plenty of snacks on the lounge that evening while we were gone and DS was already in his pj's and watching a movie. So DS10 and I finished out our night together with some Dole Whips and sat out behind Captain Cook's. The weather was fabulous and we had a great night! It was nice to be able to have that time with just him since I had the AK morning with just DS12.

Up Next: Breakfast at Kona

Looking at the first few pics you have posted I can almost hear the music in my head and now I am thinking I should have made our MK day for when MSEP is showing , I picked a day when it is not for the lower crowds expected. I still could change but what a pain trying to get my same ADRs I want and re-book the Dessert Party plus I understand you can not see MSEP from the Dessert Party seating.
Got our Mickey Mail yesterday

If the DIS doesn't speed up a bit I might be forced to go clean something.

NOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo! :rotfl2:

I'm having the same issue with the DIS! :headache:

Your parade story is the one thing that I hate about Disney parades. There always seems to be someone who wants to butt in at the last minute and disregard everyone around them who has been waiting for an hour. I don't think that problem will ever be solved though.

MSEP looks like fun! I can't answer you on which I like better b/c we haven't seen MSEP yet. I have watched it on youtube though and I totally agree with you. I like the floats on MSEP better, but I thought the music was really bad. I hope it is better in person. :confused3

OH MY! I would have exploded if I had been trapped on that monorail!!! :scared1: I cannot handle stuff like that. I can ride the monorail fine, even though the cabs are small, as long as I know I can get off. But if they told me the doors wouldn't open, I would have solved that problem for them because I would've busted right through them! And why do you always have to go to the bathroom during something like that? Poor little guy!

Glad you got some one-on-one time with DS10. :thumbsup2 I know it must be hard to find opportunites to spend individual time with just one child. And getting that time at Disney is extra special. :wizard:

Agreed. Some people have no concern for others. How can people be so mean and rude while at the "Happiest Place on Earth"? :confused3

A few years ago as we were leaving MK, some lady and her kid were in such a hurry to exit the park that they ran over my 9 year old (at the time) son. They didn't even break stride or turn around and apologize. I yelled out "Excuse you!!!" but nothing.:mad::mad:

Oh well. I guess some people are just that way.

Sheila -- YAY for Mickey Mail!!! :cool1: You are getting so close. I know you have been waiting for this trip for a very long time. I am so excited for you!!! :goodvibes

Yeah, it's that bad. I am about to go clean.:rotfl:

I know, I think that's the reason I can rarely get my family to watch a parade at WDW. Rude people!! :sad2: Never fails and usually it's some adult jumping in front of the kids.

I wasn't too happy about being trapped in the monorail. It was very crowded and DS & I were standing anyway. And I thought he was going to pee his pants if we didn't get out of there soon!!! :scared1: If it had gone on much longer I was going to call DH and have him come and break us out!! :upsidedow:laughing:

It is rare to get one on one time with the kids these days with school and work and hectic schedules and DH working all the time. I'm glad we got to do that at Disney. :cloud9:

I know, I usually try to just smile and let it go - afterall we are at the Happiest Place on Earth. BUT - sometimes (especially when it has something to do with my kids) I have to say something too!! :scared1::laughing:

Loved the MSEP pictures! That stinks about your camera.:headache: But, I'm glad that you got a new one for Christmas!:yay:
You are officially going to think I am crazy. We are now staying at the BC! My DH really hurt his back last week, and will have to have surgery on it for the fourth time. He obviously can't go on the trip, but he wanted me and the girls to still go, especially since it's DD's 21st birthday trip. We invited along my niece last night, and it will be her birthday on the trip as well! She has never been to WDW, and wanted to stay at the BC, since she heard a lot about it.:headache: So I called WDW today to price out the cost, and it is actually less expensive to stay in a water view room there! So, it's off to the BC we go!:goodvibes

I cannot believe you had not seen the MSEP before!

One of my favorite things of my childhood at Disneyland was to see this parade right before the fireworks, Fantasy in the Sky. It was so magical to see and experience.

You got some great pictures there too. Bravo!

I am hoping it will stay through the summer so that we can see it in June.

Even more extra special is spending that time with your son - priceless!

Thanks for sharing! - Sea :cool1:

MESP is my favorite! :lovestruc I think it's because that's the first parade I saw at Disney.

It is really neat! :goodvibes

I'm so sorry about your DH's back. My DH had back surgery once and I know what a huge ordeal it is. :headache:

But lucky for your niece! I'm sure you ladies will show her a great time! :cool1: And take LOTS of BC pics for me!!

Nope, seen Spectro before a few times but never MSEP. I hope it's still there for you this summer. :wizard:

I was happy with how the pictures turned out!

It was a great night. :goodvibes

What a great night!!!:goodvibes

I haven't seen MSEP since I was a very little girl. It was always my favorite parade growing up--- but I'm like you, I prefer the music to Spectro. Either one--- I like them both!:lovestruc

I can't believe the nerve of some people either. Rude, rude, rude. We had that happen to us our first trip with the kids and their first time seeing Spectro. Some foreigners plopped down right in front of the kids just as it started. A lady actually almost sat in Drew's lap. Poor kid was about 7. And I asked them to move. And they acted like they couldn't understand me when I knew that they could.

Made it a teachable lesson for the kids- to not take something that isn't yours, just because you "want to". They still talk about how rude those people were!

Anyway- what a great time you had otherwise. :goodvibes
You got some really good pictures---- too bad about the camera. But I know the boys were happy to inherit the old camera when you got your new one.

----
Oh my gosh the monorail. I do not know what the heck is wrong with that thing sometimes! :faint: And your poor son, having to use the restroom so badly. Glad your DH didn't have to pull the Mighty Mouse cape on.

The Dole Whips!!!!!!!!!!!:lovestruc
One of the bestest reasons eva' to stay at the Poly--- Dole Whip when you get home from the parks late at night!:cool1:

Oooh, Kona Breakfast. How intriguing.
