A Disney rut?

We have AP's and we live in Ohio. Being DVC members with 3 trips planned in less than 12 months it made much more $$ sense to get the AP(we get a DVC discount on AP's) over individual tickets for each trip(we would go park hopper anyway). Plus you can get the DDE card(the darn thing paid for itself on our first trip).

We frequently travel with others. We have some family friends that we've taken trips with (children same ages as ours) and have a great time with them. Grandma (my Mom) has been along for 9 trips over the years. Brother's family (including cousin same age as my oldest) has been along a few times. Great-Grandma has also been along a few times. Travelling with different people at different times of the year keeps it all new and different for us.

Also, each trip has been different with 2 DS's as they've grown from 1 & 4 to now 8 & 11. No more baby-swap for us! We also switch between DL & WDW.

I think that the reason why we enjoy going to WDW because it is predictable and it doesn't change as much from year to year. My husband likes the familiarity of it all. But I can see how some people can end up in a rut...we just aren't there yet!

Our Disney vacations have all been different for many reasons. Our children are growing and their interests change. DD8 is into autographs :sad2: and collecting them is her focus. DS2 is young enough to tag along where we take him. DH and I like trying new restaurants and new attractions. We always stay in a different hotel, which makes it a new experience. Part of the magic for us is the fact that we can revisit old favorites (attractions/ restaurants) mixed with new ones.

Our last trip was to Disneyland and I felt planning was completely different. It was a different mindset, new attractions, not as much emphasis on restaurants. We are ready for another trip to the world and before we have our days mapped out, I am already researching resorts, restaurants etc.

We took DD#2 when she was only 2 1/2. She is now 5, and she was 4 during our last trip. Just by virtue of her getting older and having more stamina, our trips have been different (and better) each year. This year we are surprising the kids with the Pirate and Princess Party, and we are venturing off site for one day to go to Sea World, which DD#1 (11 years old today!) hasn't been to since she was 4, and DD#2 has never been. We also bought the DDP for the first time, and we are trying several restaurants we've never tried.

I've started thinking about next year's trip (DH would scream if he knew that, LOL) and I'm thinking we'll try a one bedroom Beach Club villa. We did YC last year and are staying again this year. I can't give up SAB but I'd like to try something a little different, and we've never stayed in a villa.

I try hard to plan at least one different thing each trip so we aren't trying to replicate the magic from a previous trip.
