A Disney Dream Come True - Nov/Dec TR ~ Oct10 Another TR :)

I don't think I've mentioned here before but Ariana and I are going to something this weekend that we are both incredibly excited about.... You might remember that although Ariana has a lot of favorites when it comes to Disney, there is one thing that is the absolute, ultimate thing that tops her list. :lovestruc :lovestruc

Think Baby Simba and Baby Kiara.

We are going to The Lion King Musical!!! I was beyond excited to find out when we were planning this trip that the tour was coming to Toronto. Tickets went on sale while we were in Florida and the moment we were back, I booked the best possible seats for the two of us. We are five rows back from the centre stage -- yes five rows!! -- and it's finally here, finally time to go!!

Do they let you take pictures during the performance??? :rotfl:

I think we'll make the most of it, get a bit gussied up, maybe grab something to eat afterwards. Some mother-daughter time.

Though I bought the tickets in December, I knew that I couldn't tell Ariana at first, because she would be asking me every day when we were going. I contemplated a second countdown chain, or a separate chart of somesort to give her the visual of when we were going, but in the end I opted to tell her at the start of May. That way she'd get the time to build the excitement, but not too much time that she'd drive me crazy  She ended up finding out towards the end of April because I'd written it on the calendar and she'd flipped the page over to see what the next picture was -- it's a Pixar calendar -- but she's been great about it. She still talks about it every day but we quantify it by saying how many sleeps until we go! :goodvibes

Of course I'll detail our day here with all my fellow Disney nuts. We are two sleeps away!!!

I am so jealous that you are going to see Lion King. I would buy tickets but then I would have to cancel MNSSHP on our trip and I don't think you would like that :sad2:

I hope you girls have a great time!!!

Great end to your fun MK day...the sky looks gorgeous too :thumbsup2 love the Stitich encounter...what a hoot!

For sure a great day. The ADR on the Boardwalk to force us to go was a good idea too... otherwise we probably wouldn't have left.

No, no, no --- there will be no cancelling of the MNSSHP!! {insert wavy finger here} It's a good thing I got these tickets back in December... before planning this trip with you. Fuzzy Disney math means I don't feel guilty over the money spent!

:rotfl:I guess I will have to wait till the next time it comes!!!!

Have fun at the Lion King!!! We saw it when it was here and it's amazing.

Great update, that Stitch is a mischievous one. His interactions are so much fun, I still don't get why people hate him sometimes :(

Yay for Lion King just around the corner, its such an amazing show, colour and the songs are really good too. Ariana will have so much fun :)

Yay for the Lion King!! So exciting!:yay: It's coming near us in September...tickets go on sale today! I really want to go....but I'm still not sure.:scratchin Although, I've heard it's amazing! Can't wait to hear what you think of it!:thumbsup2

I love Stitch! We always have so much fun with him.

Ariana was so excited.. we kept seeing signs the closer we got to the theatre and she kept asking me to take pictures of them. :goodvibes

Angie... GO! It's incredible. I'll give more details in another update but really, go see it!

how exciting to see the Lion King. I can't wait to hear about it. I just bought tickets for Phineas and Ferb Live today, but it's not till Sept. I think we are in row 6 or 7 center. If the seats start at A with nothing in front, we are row F, I believe.

How fun! We're still not totally up to snuff on Phineas and Ferb, we really need to watch more episodes. :happytv:

Little update on Lion King coming up!

So a short little update on our Lion King day. :goodvibes

We went to the early afternoon performance and Ariana was all gussied up. Sorry the picture is yucky and you can't really tell, but she's wearing makeup and her carriage pick-a-pearl necklace.

She'd recently gotten her hair cut again into a snazzy shorter style. Incidentally, she's progressed from HATING having her hair cut, to tolerating me doing it, to her first cut (from someone other than me) on this trip to absolutely ADORING having it done. She jumps at the chance to go to the hairdressers now and is asking me regularly to go. She even lets me flat iron it.

Anyway, I'd read on the ticket that no cameras were allowed and you'd have to check your camera at the box office so I didn't even bother taking it with me. Let me tell you, it absolutely killed me to have to leave it home. I have ONE picture of Ariana smiling in front of the theatre signs on my cell phone and that's it. On our drive in, Ariana kept noticing the Lion King signs and there was a huge billboard that once she saw it, she asked me "flash... take a picture" .... poor thing. :sad2:

I'd intentionally avoided looking up pictures of the theatre so I could be wowed when we walked in - and I was duly impressed. It was beautiful and the stage was much smaller than I'd imagined. The traffic was a bit heavy getting there and parking took forever so we only had about 15 min or so to spare. Our seats were amazing and the theatre staff were awesome, they treated Ariana like a princess. I hadn't known at first, but our VIP seats entitled us to a souvenier program and a merchandise gift which we picked up during the intermission. :thumbsup2

The performance was stunning, breath taking, incredible, amazing... all the positive adjectives you could possibly imagine and then some. During the FOTLK at Animal Kingdom I always tear up at particular spots. During this performance, I was down right crying at a lot of the scenes and at the end when I knew it was almost over.... Ariana was enthralled the entire time, loving every minute of it, especially when the performers were in the aisles. The costumes were perfect and the way they illustrated the different scenes - the 'props' were all performers - was amazing.

Our loot for the evening .....

Two of each, souvenier programs and baseball caps with the Lion King embroidered on the front and "VIP" embroidered on the back. The programs are glossy books almost that cover the important scenes of the show and contained a pull out listing details of all the performers. My personal favorite of the show we saw, was Scar. His subtle inflection changes to the dialogue made his words that much more menacing - loved him!

Lastly, Ariana's souvenier that she chose -- there was sooo much to choose from!

One snag on the day was Ariana misunderstanding that I was buying this for her....

She'd thought I'd bought it during intermission and had it in my purse. She asked for it the moment we were home and was very upset that I didn't have it. It's an ornament size adult Simba mask that's quite beautiful -- I'll have to find a way to get that for her and surprise her.

So there you are.... our Lion King day! My recommendation in a nutshell -- go see it!

So glad you loved it, its such a bright, colourful, moving performance isn't it :)

The Simba Mask is v cool, I ordered that and the Scar one just after Christmas from the UK Disney Store. Have you checked the Disney Store online?

Very, very moving. Rafiki was really great too and had an amazing voice. She did the opening and closing numbers which of course made me cry like a baby!

I'll check out the Disney Store online but might end up driving back to buy it in person. It'd be perfect to surprise her for her birthday in September when we're in Disney.... if I can hold onto it for that long!

What a wonderful evening. I would love to see it someday. Bummer about the camera. One time I went to something and brought my SLR and they told me it was a professional camera and couldn't be brought in. I was bummed, and took it back to the car and brought in my point and shoot. I think before we go to Phineas and Ferb, I 'll call and ask. I would rather take the big one, because my P & S is not good with darker shots at all.

Arianna is quite the beautiful young lady!! Love the picture of her all gussied up!!!!!

Glad you had such a great evening at Lion King!! I would love to see one of the Disney productions, I might have to see if one is coming to my area!!

That mask is gorgeous, hope you can find it! What a surprise that would be for her!!!
