So I'm sitting in the office today and I mention that I'm going on vacation next week. To Florida. Specifically, to Disney World.

Interested oohs and ahs all around.

One gal asks me "How long are you staying?"

And I say "10 days." Stunned silence. Her jaw drops.

And then she says: "10 days? And you're doing this willingly?"

I'm now officially weird. Sigh.

Some people just do NOT get it, do they?

But when you return with Mickey Mouse ears for everyone, that should convert them over!!!!!!;)

Or - you could always lie and tell them that you're going to Club Med.:D

I always wonder why people presume it's ok to question where you go on vacation, how you spend your money, what clothes you wear, etc. It's bad enough when they do this behind your back - but when they come right out and badger you personally!!

I'm envious!!

Awww...poor Greg! "They" just will never "get it"! Just go and have a fabulous time!
(BTW - we're taking our grown DSs next sumer to WDW & the 3-day Cruise, & I know there are folks who just don't "get it"!)

I'm jealous, Greg! 10 days gives you plenty of time to enjoy all you want at a leisurely pace. Perfect! Have fun....:D

Don't I know the feeling. Our relatives all think we're nuts because we won't go anywhere else on vacation. I'm so glad these boards exist so I can find the normal people who do "get" it. :D

I can identify with you, Greg! Everyone makes fun of me for going so often, but then they eventually want to come along!

WHY do you go SO often? WHAT is the Attraction? You like to SPEND a LOT of MONEY don't you? My answer: Because its there, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and NO I go during OFF season, and save BIG BUCKS on a ON SITE HOTEL!:o They procede to ask me HOW they can get those discounts......

Next time, tell them you are going to a fabulous resort with 4 & 5-star restaurants, grand vistas that have been featured on the Travel channel, a world tour, and personal touches at top-notch hotel.

Anybody else want to add a description of our fav place?!?!?!

I stopped telling them! Now when they know I'm going on vacation I just say "you know where".... :teeth:

The worst part is, most of my relatives have never even BEEN to WDW - and they STILL bash it!

Yeah, I love it when those that have never been or experienced WDW bash it. I think they think it is like their local amusement park, except more expensive.

Little do they know. Oh, well, more room for me at Disney! :D

Close proximity to excellent water parks, fireworks every night, gorgeous landscaping throughout, beaches, golf, water activities, fishing, mini-golf, a superb movie theater, Cirque Du Soleil, live entertainment, sports complex, Pleasure Island's nightlife, a Mid-Atlantic Boardwalk with Piano Bar, wide variety of excellent dining, plus free and frequent transportation to all of these. Then there are the parks....:D

...well, did you know that Walt Disney World is TWICE the size of Manhattan?

(Since I live and work in New York City, that usually elicits gasps of disbelief!)

Did you know it has over a dozen resorts? Four theme parks? Three water parks? A huge downtown shopping district? A nighttime entertainment district with clubs and restaraunts? A massive sports complex?

(By this time they are stunned, and I swoop in for the kill!)

It's the number one honeymoon destination in America! And it's just minutes from great beaches, incredible parkland and four OTHER great theme parks, including Universal and Sea World. Why, you could spend a MONTH there and not see EVERYTHING!!

:Pinkbounc

If I do it well, they usually want to know how they can get a brochure...heh heh heh. Disney should put me on their payroll, don'cha think?

I use to get "YOU ARE GOING ALONE?!!!" LOL!!! Just because I am a male I am not suppose to even like it a bit and only go because I HAVE to take kids there. LOL They have no clue. LOL

You said it Dave! Our next trip is the first one where my now teenage daughter and her friend will be able to go off on their own at WDW - and I can't wait! Finally DH and I can do what WE want at our own pace. It won't be a constant run from ride to ride without any breaks. I suspect it may be our best WDW trip yet. For us and our daughter! :D

You either get the magic or you don't. My own husband is Disney impaired, it's so sad :(

I wonder if some of us don't sometimes do the same thing though? I've had to bit my lip a few times because a coworker who enjoys the Disney parks actually prefers Las Vegas and keeps going back there instead of to WDW or DL. I keep wanting to ask him why in the world he prefers Vegas to Disney but that wouldn't be a fair question would it?

with coworkers and others... Their loss!!

I guess I figure if they don't come, more discounted rooms for us and less people crowding the parks. Their loss.
