A different question about rooms near the stairs....

Hi all,

I just got assigned room 6037 which, by looking at the map, backs right up against a stairwell. Has anyone ever stayed in one of these rooms? Can you hear people using the stairs? I'm a light sleeper and was looking forward to an inside room for better sleep, but will this be a problem?

Never stayed in a room that boarderd a stairway. There are 9 lifts (elevators) onboard and it appears to me that people are willing to stand and wait for 15 minutes to go up or down one floor (you know the way we park at shopping centers - try to get the space closest to the door and will wait for 10 minutes for someone to leave rather than go park immediately and be in and out of the store before you park in that closer spot).

I take the stairs most of the time - that way I get to eat more deserts!

Thanks for the reply. You do make a good point

This room also might be near one of the loading/unloading stations for the luggage but we were near one on our last cruise and it didn't bother us because we weren't sleeping when they were moving it all on the last night of the cruise anyway.

Guess we'll see what happens!

We were on the 10 day cruise, and the stairwell areas became a favorite hangout for the teens late at night. We were around the corner from the stairs, balcony cabin, and we could hear them sometimes. Might not happen on shorter cruises, though.

Another good point. I never seem to think of these things. I had thought of the possibility of kids running up and down the stairs all day, but figured that wouldn't matter since we'd be out all day anyway. The older ones at night might be something to think about though.
