Day 4
Today was our Epcot day, as well as the Segway tour for Bob and my dad at 9:30. We met on the bus and were at the park in plenty of time for opening. The plan was for Dad and Bob to head to their tour and Mom and I would take the my kids and Bethany and do some rides. So off we went. Our first stop was to get FPs for everyone for Soarin, the 5 of us rode standby. While we were there, and the line was short, we rode Livin with the Land. For some reason Alyssa loves that. Me, it's boring. From Soarin we went to MS, easy side. In the exit area of MS, they were just getting ready to start whatever giant video game that is. We've never done it so I asked the kids if they wanted to play. Of course the answer was yes, so the 3 of them played while Mom and I sat and talked/watched.
At some point Bob called to tell me that they would be crossing over the IG area around 11:15, give or take. We decided that would be a good photo op for us so we walked over to the UK and got some CS lunch at Rose and Crown, eating on the tables outside and waited for the Segway Parade. This was a new thing for me today. I've never eaten there and the fish and chips were quite tasty, but greasy!
It wasn't long before Bob and Dad were finished and walked over to meet us. They got themselves some fish and chips too. After lunch we all went over to TT. Bob and Bethany had to bail out of line for a potty break. The girls wanted to go over and ride Nemo and Crush, but Nicholas had no interest in that. Bob took the girls and the rest of us headed back to MS to play what we've dubbed the 'world's biggest video game.' I played 2x with Nicholas and Dad finally decided he wanted in ont he action and joined us on game 2.
By now it was getting close to our ADR at Coral Reef. We all met up over there and were seated after about a 10 minute wait. We had a tank side table, and Nicholas was presented with his birthday menu.
Let me add here that no one else knew about the extras I had planned, so it was a surprise to everyone. We had a delicious meal and before you knew it out came a diver. Bob and I saw him first, the Dad and everyone else. When he held up the birthday sign there was a round of oohs and aahs, not just from my group but from the surrounding tables as well. Nicholas got a round of applause from everyone. I think he was quite embarrased, but loved every minute of it. His ears got beat red and he complained of them "burning." So I had to hold up glasses of ice water to cool them off. He looked like a goof.
After my days of surprises, I was unanimously elected mom of the year by my group. Our server even brought out a little birthday dessert for Nicholas.
We headed over for our showing of the CP. The line was moving so it didn't take long for us to get into the theater. Our narrator was Neil Patrick Harris aka: Doogie Howser, who did an outstanding job. This was the first time that my parents have seen the CP and they really enjoyed it. There is just something about that show that is so moving. It gets me everytime the audience breaks out singing Silent Night.
WS wasn't very crowded, so we mosied around the countries, killing time before Illuminations.
Sorry it's so blurry.
We rode the boat ride in Norway and played drums at the Outpost.
While waiting for Illuminations to start I had a nice chat with a lady near us who used to work in Guest Relations for WDW. I always enjoy hearing about their experiences. Again this year they had the extra Christmas ending after Illuminations. It was crowded as we made our way out of the park. Thank goodness we get to sleep in tomorrow!
