A DEADLY Game!

I had a friend who died from doing this back in 1992, he was in his 20s. We waited tables together for several years. He had given up on drugs and alcohol, but still needed his high.

This report EXCLUDED auto erotic asphyxiation. These deaths are deaths from kids who just wanted to "get high", passing out.

Even so, what can you do? This is stupid, dangerous behavior yes, but kids engage in stupid, dangerous behavior, don't they? TELL your kids NOT to choke themselves to get high, but SOMETIMES they will ANYWAY.

Parents tell kids not to drink, do drugs, have sex when they are 14, smoke cigarettes and a lot of other stuff that they do anyway.

I guess I'm just not getting the point of the thread. To inform people of "the choking game"?

Yes. I think that there are teenagers and preteens that think that this can be a "harmless game". Maybe they will engage in it anyway, but to assume that, and not have the discussion, would lead to a lot of guilt.

yeah, freaking funny when people trivialize kids dying to make a cheep political joke.

Keep it up. :woohoo:

ETA - as mentioned in a following post of mine - this has been going on in schools for at LEAST 20 years, because I remember it. This isnt anything new.

I'm 36 and I remember the Jr. High guys doing it... IN THE SCHOOL HALLWAY!!!

The girls I remember doing it - were doing it at 'recess' or whatever they called it, right after lunch - also at school.

Youre right - and calling someone a prejudiced twit is the way to handle it.

I don't recall that I referred to you or anyone, by any name. I just don't see the humor in it. I think that there are actually teens, who, if they survive their teen years, might grow up to be productive citizens. I know that is a misguided, optimistic idea, but, I think it might be possible. I have a hard time finding anything funny about it. I live in a small town, yet over the years I have known at least four teens that died in car accidents, one who died of cancer and one who died of a drug overdose. The young man who died of a drug overdose was actually a math genius. I can't help thinking, that if his parents had been more "proactive", maybe more strict or punitive, he might be doing great things with his life right now. I don't know. :confused3

I remember a teacher catching a group of boys doing it at their lockers. They did get in trouble, but I can't remember exactly what. I'm sure it wasn't too terrible, as there probably were not any reports of deaths then.

My son's very close friend since 6th grade, passed away Dec 4th - also due to circumstances brought on by himself.

Seeing him laying in a casket - with hoardes of children his age at the funeral home, with all his sports equipment and pictures from the day of his birth on, was heart wrenching. Have my son and his friends carry his casket, was icing on the cake.

He would have been 17 January 8th.

Please dont think I am not well aware of the great lives we are losing due to poor decisions.

That being said - posting a picture, I had JUST posted (happened to STILL be in my clipboard) doesnt make me a prejudice twit - nor does it make me not realize how serious the 'fainting game' is.

But thanks!

I didn't call you a prejudice twit. I don't know why you responded to me. :confused3

I am 34 years old when I was in 4 or 5th grade kids did a form of this. I never saw it work because I don't think the 4th and 5th graders were doing it quite right (although it could have worked) but they learned it from some older brothers.

No - you only agreed with the prejudiced twit caller.

Never mind, Dawn.

No kidding, a real HOOT! ""

This includes my post to the quote. I do not see a reference to "prejudice twit". I don't mean to nit pick, but I didn't not "agree" with any name calling.

To clarify i ASKED if you were prejudice? I asked because I was disgusted that someone would use kids dying as an angle for cheap political jokes and was curious what kind of person would do that.

Being that you are close to the subject makes the situation even more curious. How would you justify your post to the parents of your son’s late friend?

With all that said. Apologies for calling you a twit.

Excuse me???

Get over yourself - please.
