I arrive a day earlier than the rest of my family so I have a free day to myself. I'm staying at OKW, I'll have a park hopper ++ so the possibilities are endless.

Just for fun, what would you do??

I would probably enjoy a nice breakfast at a resort.. Which one I don't know bc I've never thought of this before. I'm thinking the tonga toast. Then go to GF for a spa visit. Followed by an afternoon strolling World Showcase enjoying beverages and the shows the kids never want to sit still for.

Since you will be at OKW, do an early breakfast at Olivia's. The breakfast there is really nice. The menu choices are not heavy or lite, just right.
Then I would definitely do a spa visit at GF. Then a nice lunch at the counter service at GF. The choices there are surprisingly good.
If you like Sushi go to Poly. I think the Sushi bar is closed now but worth a check.
Then a boat to the MK for the afternoon and people watch and take in the parade. Because you don't have to be anywhere pick a great seat on MSUSA and wait for the parade. Ask a CM where the Dapper Dan's will perform and watch their show with an ice cream from the ice cream shop.
Book dinner at The California Grill and sit at the Sushi bar.
Then go to BLT to the TWL and watch the Wishes Fireworks Show with your favorite drink in your hand from the platform outside the lounge.
Then back to your room for a nice hot bath in the big tub (assuming one bedroom) with a night cap and a great night’s sleep.

The gf spa has an 80 minute pedicure that I just love. With the Dvc discount and gratuity I think it came in around $90 or $100. You also get to enjoy the spa facilities with heated tile loungers and a nice hot tub. Plus there is a comfy lounge area to relax with tea and some yummy mini muffins. It is my favorite. It makes for a great afternoon and the spa staff are so nice. This was probably my favorite splurge at Disney and you will definitely feel like you're on vacation. Afterwards you can shop at the gf and hopefully hear the piano player or orchestra. If I didn't do that I might just take myself to the magic kingdom and walk around, snack and shop.

I have the same situation in January. I am looking forward to a day at Magic Kingdom doing my favorite things without being on other peoples timeline. I am always the planner and often worry about the party having a good time. That night....Jellyrolls or Wishes.

I've actually had that situation. I had a business trip to Orlando and added an extra day as a vacation day and then flew home. After leaving the office, I went to MK and saw Spectromagic & Wishes, hopped on the monorail and saw Illuminations at Epcot (it was February so it got dark early). I then went to my room at Beach Club Villas. The next day I went to Epcot & DHS. I already had an annual pass so no extra ticket purchase needed. Evening flight home.

Do something you have never done before.
sports: golf, mini-golf, fishing, RPDE, marathon, bowling, ESPN Club, WWS/ESPN Zone, etc
shopping: DTD, area outlet malls, large scale malls
drinking: Jellyrolls, Raglan Road, monorail tour of resorts, walking tour of resorts in the Boardwalk area
movies: DTD 24 screen theater some with meals served by waiters
night clubbing: Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, Raglan Road, Citywalk
resort tours: monorail tour of resorts, Boardwalk around the lake tour of resorts, AKL/AKV
offsite: Gaylord Palms Resort, Citywalk, swamp tour
Take the time for yourself and enjoy.
Depending on your situtaion, you may want to do the adult things that the kids do not allow or if no kids, always do adult things, then go be a kid for the day.

yeah, i'd just figure out what you want to do that you would normally be limited by others' preferences...and do that.

if you have picky eaters in your family, now is the time to hit boma or jiko.

if your kids won't watch shows, go see beauty and the beast or whatever.

family not into shopping? maybe take some time to wander around the store at the japanese pavilion in epcot...

I have lots of free days at WDW since I often travel solo. My favorite day is just to have a TS breakfast, then wander around WS in Epcot, stopping and sitting frequently to "soak up the atmosphere" and people-watch. We recently took a family trip with 3 generations, and although I loved it, I can't wait until my solo trip in January so that I can do just what I described.

I can't imagine a more perfect day!

Two teenage sons who are into manga, martial arts and japanese culture! This is the only place I'm allowed to shop :rotfl2:

Is there much to see at Fort Wilderness? I was considering renting a bike at WL and touring around - need to exercise off that breakfast at Olivia's and prepare for a lazy afternoon at the GF spa :)

Thanks for some fabulous ideas. You're right, the possibilities are endless...

I would start at DHS. Ride TSMM single-rider until my wrist was sore. Do the animation drawing thing - I've always wanted to, but family never wanted to take the time. Lunch at 50's PT bar.

Head to Epcot on the boat - nice break. Wander WS, doing exactly what I wanted for however long I wanted to do it. Would make sure to see the drummers in Japan - I love watching those women!

Supper would be Chef's Table at Flying Fish. Then Boardwalk entertainers. Head back to OKW, perhaps to get a decaf capp or a nightcap at the bar.

Wow, that was fun to dream up! Now to go back and read what everyone else said!

Agree with Simbasmom........I love to just wander around World Showcase, people watching, browsing in the shops and stopping at a bench now and then, maybe enjoying an adult beverage or two. I also like to find a bench in a quiet area at AK, bring a good book in my bag, get a nice cold Safari Amber from the Dawa Bar and just relax and read for awhile with all that nature around me. Or, simply do the things you enjoy doing..but others usually in your party aren't particularly keen on...for me that would be seeing some of the shows. The Studios is also great to just pick a bench, relax and people watch....be careful where you pick the bench, though.....sometimes the Citizens of Hollywood will show up and before you know it....you're part of their show!
