DD and I have made these the past few years....all you need are left over candy canes and a cookie sheet (okay maybe a few other things but they are easy to find).
Heat your oven to a warm setting (under 200 degrees). Place a sheet of parchment paper on the cookie sheet then place your candy canes with the hooks facing each other to form the shape of a heart. Put them in the warm oven and let them sit there until they get soft to the touch. Take them out and pinch the canes where they meet (top and bottom) to seal the heart.
We put them in decorated gift bags and give them to her friends and classmates. It's really cute and fun to do.
