A Custom Boutique Trip Report (8/31-9/3)

I have never done a trip report but since I discovered the custom boutique thread on the family board I thought I would show off some of clothes I made for my princess and prince. There is me (Mom), DH (Dad), Megan (age 5) and Jacob (age 8). We drove an hour and a half for the three day weekend and stayed at the Beach Club Villas.

We got in Friday afternoon and walked over the Epcot for dinner. Megan wore her Nemo outfit and we ate at the German buffet. Jacob spotted a man taking pictures of his meal and DH remarked that he must be a friend of Mommy's. Megan had a great time twirling around and dancing to the band:

We walked over to listen to the British Invasion and I took Megan inside to see Alice, Tigger, Eeyore and Pooh. Alice remarked that she saw that Megan found Nemo and asked if she knew how to curtsy (did she ever!):

The next day we went to Magic Kingdom. While DH and J were riding the thrill rides I took Megan over to the Barber Shop. I would highly recommend this for any kid. It was only five dollars and she was super excited:

Megan got a lot of attention from her outfit, mostly from CMs. DH said that he did notice some people checking her out as well. Taking a break on the TTA we traded pictures. Megan and I matched:

And DH and J wore their matching pirate shirts. They got lots of attention from CMs as well (Arrrrgh!):

The next day, DH and J went over to Epcot to do sciencey things, while M and I headed back over to Magic Kingdom. It was Little Ones Extra Magic Hours and we had a blast. All the characters were out playing with the kids. Chip and Dale wanted Megan to play follow the leader. Then Chip led her and another adorable little girl to the carousel:

After riding every ride in Fantasy Land we headed over to ToonTown Fair to show Minnie her outfit. I think Minnie was impressed:

Over at Epcot, DH and J were selected with a group going on Test Track to receive special lanyards and pins. They were so excited! DH bought a starter kit for Megan so she wouldn't feel left out. They were so proud of their pins and the kids had a great time trading them. That night we went back over to Epcot for dinner:

Megan didn't get a lot of attention in this outfit; I'm not sure why because it is one of my favorites. Probably because she told me it is really a Small World outfit and not an Epcot one. Oh well!

We saved Animal Kingdom for last and that was a mistake. Even with Early Magic Hours, it was busier than the other parks and the kids were super cranky from being up late the whole weekend. We did ride the little dinosaur ride like 5 times while DH was getting a Fast Past for the Safari:

They both got a lot of attention this day. Several CMs told J they loved the animal buttons on his shirt. I am so glad he let me make it for him! Megan's Animal Kingdom outfit is my favorite.

That's it! We had a great time and the kids loved the special clothes so it is something we will do again. Megan didn't even get to wear all her outfits. I guess we'll save them for January! Thanks for looking!

Steph, these all look awesome!! You did a great job! Are you one of the newbie sewers too? If you are, you can't tell from those outfits! I love the picture of your DD after the barbershop - what a cute pose!! It looks like it was a fun trip!

I loved your trip report. I'm surprised the lack of attention for the "small world/epcot" outfit -- I still think that is probably the most appropriate & unique outfits for EPCOT. Your family looks terrific. (DD looks just like you by the way)

How fun! I love seeing the outfits in the parks. I need to get to work for my March trip. I am determined to make my dd5 an outfit for each day and dd9 as many as she will let me!

I think my favorite pictures were of Mickey and Minnie. I love the smile on Megan's face when she showed Minnie her dress. I also love that your DH wore a pirate shirt. That gives me an idea!

Yes, I think she did. She was totally adorable. I didn't get to talk to her family because I was just hanging back and letting Megan interact with the characters and the other kids.

Yes, I am a novice sewer. I only started this summer because of the thread on the family board but I am glad I did! Thanks for all your comments!

Looks like you had a great time. I loved the matching mom/DD dad/Ds shirts! I think your Ds's AK shirt is my favorite, but they are are adorable. I love the Epcot/small world outfit too, maybe people just didn't look close enough.

That was such a long wait, but worth it! While we were in line Clarabelle came right up to Megan and started pointing to her outfit. The accompanying CM said "I think she wants your Mommy to make her an outfit like that!" I didn't know if it was good or bad that it was that obvious it was handmade. DH later convinced me it was a good thing!

When Megan was reviewing the Trip Report with me she said, there's my Small World outfit. Megan's baby pictures look just like mine so I guess she is lucky (or not) to take after me.

That's the only shirt he let me make him and I think he was glad that I did. One CM asked where he got it from because he had never seen one like it and I heard him proudly say, My wife made it. It made my day!

I'm laughing at the 3 banana minimum: I didn't know that carried over here! If you ever get the opportunity to do the Little Ones Extra Magic Hour, do it. Megan had such a good time and I just hung back and tried not to cry at how sweet it was.

Well, since I take most of the pictures I guess I don't get in many. I just realized that I never got one of me and Megan in our matching Animal Kingdom outfits: shoot! I always love your picture in your sig, so I will have to do better at getting in the photos!

I told Jacob what you wrote because he was disappointed there weren't more pictures of him. I think next time we should take a back-up camera for when DH takes him off with him. He was very proud of his AK shirt since he basically designed it.

Aww, thank you so much! I did have to choke back tears a couple of times that day. She was just so proud and happy and so was I.

Thank you to everyone who commented. We had a lot of fun and I would have never thought of trying to do customs if it wasn't for the encouragement of the people on this board so I really appreciate it. (three banana minimum)
