It's official, after trying to make it work for the last few years, we are going to Disney World!!!:cool1: With the free dining PIN I got in the mail this week I KNOW I can afford it!

I am wondering if you think 10 nights is "too much" for a first trip? (ok, I know, I know who could have too much of a good thing right? But I mean too exhasting, too much closenesss in a hotel room, too much to ask my kids to behave themselves for that time...)

IF we stay that length of time I was thinking we should do a couple days at Universal Studios...but since we would be staying on Disney property what would be the best way going about getting there? Should we just switch to a off site hotel? Should we rent a car for those days? SOOO complicated! LOL! I just think my older kiddos would LOVE the US too!

We always stay 10 days. That gives us 2 days at each park, a day at a water park, and a resting day. Stay on property. One day at Universal is enough. You don't need to rent a car, unless you want. Have fun.

We always stay 10 nights/11 days-it gives you plenty of time to enjoy the parks-not just run from ride to ride so that you get to see everything. You don't need to rent a car to go to Universal-you can call Mears (the big taxi company in Orlando) and they will transport you back and forth-way cheaper than a taxi. Also, keep in mind that if you get the package deal, you will only get 10 days worth of park tickets (10 days is the maximum so you could go to Universal on your extra day.

10 days is not too much. There is so much to see and do. With 10 days you can slow down. Take a day off here and there to... sit at your hotel pool, visit dtd, visit fort wilderness, waterpark, play mini-golf,stay up late and sleep in, visit other resorts. ect ect ect. If you find your self and or kids getting on each others nerves, split up for awhile. Our first trip was 7 days and it flew by! we have a whole list of things we want to see and do next time.

10 days is perfect - not too long and not too short! It will give you time to really enjoy the trip. You won't want a 10 day base ticket but I'd stay on property without question and rent a car for the day to visit Universal or SeaWorld or go see a launch at the Kennedy Space Centre (we did that and it was sooo cool and something I always remember)!

I agree with the PPs, 10 days is perfect. Use Mears for transportation to Universal for a day. If you Stay offsite you cant take advantage of free dining! You can use your extra dining credit from your univeral day and hit a signature resturant!

We loved staying for 10 nights. It actually made the vacation less stressful and more relaxing - yes, even at Disney. We took our time at each park, stayed at the resort a couple of days just enjoying it's ammenities (ie. swimming and the arcade). Had a day to go to the waterpark and the boys with daddy went over and checked out Disney Quest while the girls shopped at DTD. It was soooo nice I couldn't imagine doing less. If they start getting antsy with each other, send them out to swim or to the arcade - my boys could spend all day at the arcade in the resort. And yes, take Mears to Universal.

Hey thanks for the replies guys!

My main concern about my trip is that I am a single momma so I would be doing it alone with the kiddos. My oldest is the only one who really could "split off" from us and as of this point I am thinking she wont be coming (looooong sordid tale but I am thinking she will be living with her dad at the time). Momma might get a little awnry near the end if babies dont listen well. :scared:

The guy I have been with for the last four years is thinking about joining us but I doubt could stay 10 days. I have put feelers out for my Mom, brother and his fiancee maybe my little sister. My BFF and her family too. But noone is for sure and I doubt anyone would stay 10 days but us. So there is SOME possibility that I wouldnt be totally alone but there is a possibility I WILL be alone. Maybe....a bottle of wine (or tequila maybe???:rotfl:) for the room may be in order...LMAO!

Thanks for the Mears suggestion! I was thinking the exact thing about dining. I REALLY wanna try Jiko (that filet with macaroni ) is right up my ally...actually up my "Disney adult" 10 year olds ally too!

10 days is the perfect amount of time b/c you will be able to slow the pace alot so you arent wearing out the kids. Then they'll have enough steam to get thru the rest of the week.
