How big are the Silhouettes? Also I know you can buy the frames and have them frame it there, but I want a specific style frame (and I can buy it cheaper, I'm sure ;) )Do you think I could take my own frame and they could put it in mine? I could, of course, just opt to have them give me just the silhouette, but I read on the other silhouette thread somewhere that someone had wished they had had it framed there. I'm just worried that if it isn't framed right away it would get messed up in packing etc. Kwim? Any insight would be great! TIA Guys :)

Oh! Also anybody know about them doing babies? I'm wondering abouut having one done for my 1 yr old, but not sure if it would really have a resemblance or not?

we did my 3 week old baby girl. and it looks just like her at the time, even though she looks like a boy since she has no hair! you should get the frame there. if i were you, i'd wait on buying a frame somewhere else until you see the ones at Disneyland. You might end up liking it and I don't think it costs that much. Also if you family continues to grow like mine...the frames remain the same so they all match.

Definitely wait until you see the frames. They are nice and pretty darned inexpensive in retrospect. I am one who wishes we'd shelled out the dough for at least one frame! Our silhouettes of DS still just sit there, unframed.

While most people end up with a good likeness of whoever was "done", and while DH thinks the silhouette looks like DS...I personally don't think it looks like anyone but Christopher Robin. And since DS doesn't really look like CR, I wasn't ultimately overly pleased with the actual job done, but it's probably just me being hypercritical. And I would do it again in a heartbeat, and likely will!

It's VERY fast, FYI.

I'd wait to see the frames. However, they are delicate so I'd have something sturdy (like a book) to put it in just in case you decide not to get the frame. That way the sihlouette won't get bent. As far as "size", they are 5x7 without the frame and an oval with.

You get 2 of each you have made it's a mirrored image. We buy one frame and frame the other in a 5x7 frame for family :thumbsup2. The frames are only about 10$. Good price for an oval frame. :goodvibes
we have them made by 2 different shop artists and I can see the difference in style. I prefer the older woman with grey hair; her work looks more detailed. I have a complete set from the younger long dark haired woman. But I need 4 more from the other artist! :wizard: Sorry I can't remember their names I know I have them in a pic somewhere! Lol

We had our 3 kids done and the resemblance wasn't huge. I still love them, framed them and put them on a ledge in the living room. I wish Sylvia had been there when we went. I believe she's been doing it for 30+ years. I had seen her work beforehand and it was amazing, she just didn't happen to be there when we were. I preferred a very simple black rectangle frame (fit perfectly in 5x7 frames) so I didn't have them framed there. They pack the silhouettes between 2 sturdy pieces of cardboard and put them in a bag. They made it home completely fine - no bends whatsoever. :)

I love the Silhouettes. I think they're one of the best bargains at the parks. Interestingly enough, they can only include character silhouettes along with yours at Disneyland, not at WDW.

Here's a quilt I made in 2002 using copies of the Silhouettes I had done over the years at Disneyland, starting on my honeymoon in 1980. I took it back when I was working on the applique and Sylvia kindly identified each of the silhouette artists. The Castle in the center is my own design.

I have one with my girls, I think it looks just like them. I have it framed with the silhouette pins in the frame. I liked the frames they had there in the shop, but I knew I wanted to frame it with the pins so I had to buy a frame at home. :)

WOW!! That is AMAZING.
I must have gotten Sylvia..we got sillouettes done of 5 of the grandkids and they were pretty accurate. I just framed them all in matching 5x7's. We'll take the other 3 next January, and can hopefully find the same simple frames for theirs.

We've always had Sylvia as an artist, and they are all very accurate! I'll have to scan them to post - one of each of my kids, one with the two of them together, one of the 3 of us, one of my service dog (done onsite), and one of my pet dog (done from a photo). I am a little sad that I can't think of another configuration to do! My kids are older now and one is out of the house, so doing another group picture is going to have to wait until she visits DL when we do (she lives 2500 miles away now).

We always got the frames, and I'm glad that we did. They look nice hanging over doorways throughout my livingroom.

I know this has been posted, but going in two weeks and need to know what shop and location these wonderful mementos are located in. thanks!!

The Silhoutte Studio is located on Main Street, on the right side (if you are walking towards the castle). I think it's approximately half way down Main Street, maybe a little more than half....
