A couple questions about a 3 year old

It will be our first time on a Disney cruise and we'll be sailing this Spring. I had a question about the Aquaduck. My son just turned 3 but is 42" tall, is it too scary for a 3 year old? At the bottom, do you get tossed out of the raft? Can you fall out on the ride? He's not a stronger swimmer and I know that I could put a puddle jumper on him but I have no idea what it's actually like.

The other question is about the upper berth. Has anyone let their 3 year old sleep up there? I could let him use the sofa bed but it would be nice not to have that pulled out. He saw the pictures of it and he said he wants to sleep up there and not in the bed. Just curious if anyone else let there very young child sleep up there. Thanks.

I did not find the AquaDuck scary, but I also did not take my 3 year old. There are places where you get sprayed in the face. How does he react to that? You stand up at the end abd everyone is the opposite of graceful going through that whole process.

My newly 3 year old slept in the upper bunk for the whole trip. We really appreciated not losing the floor space to the sofa bed and having the bunk down all day for when she napped.

Aquaduck is pretty tame. He'll have to ride in front with you behind. As long as he leans back and holds on, virtually no chance of getting thrown out.

In most rooms, the sofa bed is not like a traditional pull out couch. The back folds down to reveal a twin mattress. It takes up no more room folded down than when it's set up as a couch. The upper bunk has a rail. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with a3 year old up there. You could always ask your stateroom host to set it up so you could see it and decide then.

First, I'd suggest you google youtube videos of the AquaDuck. That'll give you an idea of what it's about. At the bottom you get out of the raft in about 2' of water and have to climb out (over a rail that's about 30-36" high) to the deck.

Second, the sofa bed isn't your typical pull out sofa, the mattress is in the back of the sofa and folds down. Certainly it's your call whether you let your 3 year old sleep up there. There's a built in rail, but you can ask your room host for additional rails. You could ask the room host to make up both beds for the first night and make the decision then as to what bed you want set up for the rest of the trip.
Here's a picture of one of the rooms with the beds all made up:

One more thing not all the cabins have the upper bunk. If your cabin only sleeps 3 it will only have the couch bed.

Also you can bring/buy a pair of goggles for him to wear on the Aquaduck if you think the water spraying in his face would bother him.

Thanks for the responses. I will google the Aqueduck and let him watch as well. He's a planner and so it's fun to be able to talk about it ahead of time and he knows what to expect. I had read on the Disney site that goggles weren't allowed on the Aquaduck but he's fine with water in his face. I should have mentioned we were going to be in a family concierge so from what I've seen online when the sofa is down there is no way to get the veranda without climbing over it. I did see there were some railings on the bunk but it doesn't seem like they go completely around it. I didn't know you could add more railing. It's a good idea to ask for both on the first night and try it out. I appreciate the advice.
