A couple of things I learned about getting dreamed

I am a SoCal local, too, and my friend who is always with me at DL lives 5 minutes down the street from Dl in Anaheim, but we love staying at the hotels anyway when we can! It seems more 'vacation-like' when we do than if we just drive home!

That would be fun! We just can't swing it that way so... back home we drive. (Plus, our puppy is waiting for us to return from DL when we go! hehe)

Glad we could help clarify the process. Think of the Dream Squad CMs as deliverers of the Dreams (not the Dream Deciders) and it all makes sense. :wizard:

I just wanted to add that although it was said ^ there somewhere that they travel in pairs, a friend won Fantasmic priority seating when pin trading with a Dream Squad CM who was solo - not paired-up with anyone.

Yes, you cannot leave a puppy at home overnight or for two nights!

I think I had heard that too - that sometimes it is just one Dream Squad person handing out things. And I thought I had also heard on this board that sometimes the Dream Squad people travel in packs, so maybe it just depends on what they have to give away and how much time they are allotted to do it, and if the process can move faster by sending out 5 people rather than two, maybe they do it that way? The whole thing is fascinating to me. I think whoever is meant to be dreamed will be dreamed if it is in the stars for them! I always chuckle when I read that some people spot the Dream Squad folks and stalk them through the parks until they lose sight of them. I bet a lot of people do that, but if they knew exactly how precise the whole process is, they would know that stalking the Dream Squad people probably won't do any good! It is an amusing visual, though!:rotfl: I am sure the Dream Squad gets a hoot out of it when they notice that someone is on their tail!

They hand out dreams everyday up until 5 p.m.

------------

Not exactly true. We were dreamed last year about 7:00 pm by Peter Pan's Flight. ;-)

Perhaps that has changed for this year because that was exactly what we were told by the Dream squad when we won the Dream Suite.

Also a couple of things I forgot about until now is only residents of certain countries are eligible to win some of the bigger dreams, the ones that require valid government ID. I know for the dream suite, I had to provide my driver's license. They told us that recently one winner said they had valid ID, but upon producing it, they found it had expired, so that person was not eligible to stay in the suite. Another time the woman who won the night in the suite didn't have her ID with her, but she went back home and got it and was able to stay.

We were told that recently the Dream squad approached six different people before someone accepted the night in the suite. The first five people thought that maybe they were selling something or told them they were in a hurry to get to XXX ride and they didn't have time to talk.

Here's an example of how random this process is, our concierge, Karen, told me that a family from England had a 10-night stay at Disneyland. They won a night in the suite on their first night and again on the last night. What are the odds of that happening?

I hope my b/f and I get dreamed before its over. We go so often you'd think we would have got something already.

What do the dream people wear?? I don't know what they look like.

At least one will be wearing a white vest.

Hope you get dreamed next time! YOAMD ends December 31st.

Rocketeer - I have a question for you, when they first approched you, did they present you with a certificate of some sort, like with Mickey on it??

No, first they said, "We would like to ask you a couple of questions. I know it's sounds kind of weird, but where are you from? Do you know anyone who works for Disney? Do you have a valid government ID? My son asked, "Do you mean like a driver's license?" They said, "Exactly. You are a potential winner." They asked us to follow them down to Main Street where they could tell us what we had potentially won. It was inside the guided tours office that they sat us down and showed us a DVD that said we had won a night in the Dream Suite.

It's sort of like lightning. It strikes when the weather conditions are right, but when, where, and how strong, no one knows.

1.21 Gigawatts..... What did you say?? A bolt of lighting....

(Hum 'Back to the Future' music theme song here.) :goodvibes
Sorry, I couldn't resist - I'm a gal from the 80's. :):rotfl:

Here's a question... what sort of gov't i.d. does a child under 18 years of age require if they are dreamed by the dream team? Thanks, if anyone knows. :) I would assume Mom or Dad, etc., can provide their own i.d. to vouch for them?:goodvibes

That's a good question. I'm not sure. We'll be back in October and Debbie, our Dream CM, wants us to visit her in NOS since her dream squad gig will be over, so I will ask her and post back.

I read a VERY detailed posting tonight from someone who won a night in the suite at Walt Disney World. Although it's the other park, I would bet the legal aspects are the same.

Two questions that have been raised in this thread, she somewhat answers for us: 1) Is there an age requirement? 2) Is an ID needed?

The winner states that there were lots of forms for her to fill out and sign in regard to her eligibility to win. This is when she was asked for a photo government ID. She mentions that they did a background check on her. (I found this interesting, but can think of many reasons for it.)

Also, she mentions that she was able to invite people to stay with her. Two of her choices were a good friend and her 16 year old son. She very specifically says that, "Then things got a little crazy with Elton [the Dream Squad CM with her] asking me how old her son was and him telling me that minors, 16 and under, could not participate unless they were my children."

She later explains that the Dream Squad CM made some phone calls and got special permission for the 16 year old to stay, but it certainly sounds like there is an age element (unless they are the winner, or winner's family).

She also mentions that the 5 people she got to invite to stay with her all need to bring an ID with them.

It was interesting to read that they were VERY specific about clarifying that she was not a cast member or related to any CMs or living with any CMs. However, 2 of the people that she invited to stay with her were CMs which was not a problem because they were not the winner, but her guests.

I also found it just amazing that she won Dream ears and Dream fastpasses within hours of winning the Suite in completely un-related circumstances of just being in the right spot as she was getting ready for her night in the suite. I guess some people just have the lucky aura.

Just thought if I found the above interesting, someone else would too

I just pulled out the paperwork I had signed, and you are correct. There is a portion where I had to agree to a background check. It says they "may" conduct a criminal background check and/or other investigative or security checks on me. In this day and age, they would be foolish not to. In fact, I wondered if they x-rayed our luggage before bringing it up to the suite. Video cameras are not allowed in the suite, and frankly, I probably wouldn't take someone's word that don't have one.

As for having others stay in the suite, there was no issue because it was only my son and me.

And the minor with ID issue: the paperwork states that if the winner is a minor, the parent/legal guardian must accept the prize on their behalf and sign the affidavit, and by signing, they agree to the terms on their own behalf as well as on behalf of the winning minor.

Thanks for your post. I found it very interesting as well. I never thought to include all those details about what type of form we signed, etc.
