First I want to vent... then I have a couple of questions

Vent-
Today I called Universal reservations to "add" an extra night to my reservation... (5 nights is now 6 nights) and the girl was just taking forever and kept putting me on hold.. I heard the Jurassic Park music 4 times..

anyway.. when she came back she reconfirmed the dates and told me everything was fine and then gave me the new total which was like a 1000.00 lower... so I said "Wait a minute" something is wrong here... it should be more... I have "added" a night.

Then she got all confused and started stammering... turns out she cancelled my res.. then rebooked - but booked a standard room instead of the club room I had and booked for a day less instead of a day more...

Then she had to ask me to spell our names again.. she didn't "have them" anymore... and also no record of my deposit which I paid in December... so it was a bit of a scare.. I was really sorry I called to add this night extra night! LOL

Well we got it sorted out... lots more Jurassic Park music and help from a supervisor... but finally everything is done! And after all that they charged me a 25.00 change fee for adding the extra night!!! How about my 25.00 phone bill for holding for 20 minutes long distance and my lost reservation!!?

Now I have two questions.... I added a meal & vault tour at the Hard Rock... has anyone tried this? It was 24.24 for adults and 9.99 for kids...

I also added a couple of dining experience vouchers for 35.00 and 13.00 kids... has anyone tried these?

(My aim was to pay for as much as possible ahead of time)

My last question and it may sound silly... has anyone ever paid more with their final payment... say 500.00 more... so there is room credit when you arrive?

Thanx for letting me drone on... I am sending final payment next week (way early) so it is all done with and I don't have to worry about anything between now and august.

They charged you a change fee? I've never had that happen and I've changed my reservation twice already. I have to add another night, so when I call today it will be interesting to see what will happen. If you call the Loews 1-800-235-6397 number the call is free and they are very knowledgable.
 
I would be raising holy hell about a change fee to ADD a night and give them MORE money. Is this some sort of package? When you made the original reservations were you told anything about changes would cost more? This makes NO sense to me. Also if they cancelled your original and then rebooked you - it wasn't a change anyway. It was a new booking! I'd ask to speak to the manager or whomever was in charge about this. I have my confirmation paperwork for my trip in May and the only fees listed are cancellation fees if you're witin 5 days of your trip - which you aren't.

I booked it online through their website back in December.

I was surprised when they put the whole thing through on my visa instead of just deposit (considering it was 8 months ahead of time) But I called and they switched it to just a deposit.

It does say 25.00 for changing dates in their terms and conditions... everything is all set now... after the experience of yesterday I don't want to touch my file again LOL

With all the trouble you've had with their record-keeping and such....Why in the world would you send them $500 if you don't HAVE to????? Just sounds like another thing to get lost in their system.
 
I have to agree. Universal is very good at losing reservations. Last year I had booked RPH and somehow had three different ressies! :eek: How that happened I'll never know but I have learned to try and do as much of the vacation planning myself rather than rely on someone else who handles tons of calls, questions, and ressies daily.

Anyone have a problem finding a reservationist who can speak fluent, clean english? I think that is where majority of the problem lies. So many times I have called only to hang up and call again because I am having such a hard time understanding the person I am speaking with.

So, has anyone ever done these meal plans? Is it worth it? Does anyone know which restaraunts are included in these?

We are staying at HRH the end of May. I wasn't aware of the meal plans mentioned above. Could you tell me more about them - or where I might find out about them? The vault tour and meal sounds interesting! What do the rest of you have to say? Thanks!
