I remember reading somewhere that you could see Epcot fireworks from the OKW balconies. Is this true? Is it Illuminations or just regular fireworks?

Also, does anyone have any info on the "Unbirthday" party? Has anyone ever done this with their kids and did they enjoy it? Thanks in advance. Tonia

Some balconys have a view of fireworks in the distance, certainly not a view really worth much....I think you can see both MGM and Epcot fireworks, but we are talking WAY out in the distance, if you happen to be facing the right way.

The unbirthday party is fun for young kids. Make your ressie early for it, it fills up quickly.

When we were in bldg 11 3 years ago, I was able to hear DTD fireworks and they were LOUD!!! I thought we were getting bombed!

I have never been in a unit that I was able to see Epcot fireworks, though. When we stayed at Caribbean Beach 8 years ago we were able to see Epcot's fireworks at Port Royale while we were hanging out at the Cabana Bar!

As far as the unbirthday party, I would like to be able to do that this next trip. How far in advance do you have to make reservations, Rich?

We were in the pool a few nights when the firworks were going off. We could certainly hear them, but about the only thing we could see was different colors lighting up the sky, but not the actual "firework pattern."

I don't think its something that you can make a PS for months in advance. We found that if we made it on the day we arrived or the day after, we would be OK, if you wait till the day before or the day of, you will be out of luck. And they do NOT stretch the limit at all.

Oh ya? Tell my wife that. She has had an 'unbirthday party' the last two years (since she turned 30). She is now officially 28! :teeth:

The unbirthday party brings back some great memories. My three are much too old for it now, but they loved it.

Rich is right, it can't be booked until you're there.

I've seen fireworks in the distance from OKW, but you are pretty far away. I remember seeing them while crossing the bridge that leads from the Hospitality House to Peninsular.

Maistre Gracey! I need to start doing my own reverse countdown.;)

What kind of activities do they do at the party? I have an almost 5 year old and a very mature (he thinks, lol) seven year old. Would they enjoy it? And does anyone know how long it takes? Tonia

We had a partial view of the fireworks from buildings 26 & 28 through the trees. Also heard the midnight fireworks from PI.

When they practiced the Illuminations/fireworks show a few nights before NYE last year, we were able to see the regular fireworks very clearly from our balcony on Bldg. 23. Epcot is MUCH closer to OKW than most people think (I believe it is about 1 mile as the crow flies), so we were able to see pretty darn clearly.
